< Psalms 47 >
1 For the end, a Psalm for the sons of Core. Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with a voice of exultation.
To the Chief Musician. For the Sons of Korah. A Melody. All ye peoples, clap your hands, Shout unto God, with the voice of triumph;
2 For the Lord most high is terrible; [he is] a great king over all the earth.
For, Yahweh—as Most High, is to be revered, A great king, over all the earth,
3 He has subdued the peoples under us, and the nations under our feet.
He will subjugate, Peoples under us, and, Tribes of men beneath our feet.
4 He has chosen out his inheritance for us, the beauty of Jacob which he loved. (Pause)
He chooseth for us our inheritance, The excellence of Jacob, which he hath loved. (Selah)
5 God is gone up with a shout, the Lord with a sound of a trumpet.
God hath ascended with a shout, Yahweh, with the sound of a horn.
6 Sing praises to our God, sing praises: sing praises to our King, sing praises.
Sing praises unto God, sing praises, Sing praises to our King, sing praises;
7 For God is king of all the earth: sing praises with understanding.
For God is king of all the earth, Sing praises with understanding.
8 God reigns over the nations: God sits upon the throne of his holiness.
God, hath become king, over the nations, God, hath taken his seat upon his holy throne.
9 The rulers of the people are assembled with the God of Abraam: for God's mighty ones of the earth have been greatly exalted.
The willing-hearted of the peoples, have gathered themselves together, The people of the God of Abraham; For, to God, belong the shields of the earth, Greatly is he exalted.
