Psalms 40

1 For the end, a Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the Lord; and he attended to me, and listened to my supplication.

Mai marelui muzician, un psalm al lui David. Am așteptat cu răbdare pe DOMNUL; și el s-a aplecat spre mine și a ascultat strigătul meu.

2 And he brought me up out of a pit of misery, and from miry clay: and he set my feet on a rock, and ordered my goings aright.

M-a scos de asemenea din groapa pieirii, din noroiul mocirlos și mi-a așezat picioarele pe stâncă și mi-a întemeiat umbletele.

3 And he put a new song into my mouth, [even] a hymn to our God: many shall see [it], and fear, and shall hope in the Lord.

Și mi-a pus în gura o cântare nouă, laudă Dumnezeului nostru, mulți vor vedea aceasta și se vor teme și se vor încrede în DOMNUL.

4 Blessed [is] the man whose hope is in the name of the Lord, and [who] has not regarded vanities and false frenzies.

Binecuvântat este omul care face pe DOMNUL încrederea sa și nu dă atenție celor mândri, nici celor ce se abat spre minciuni.

5 O Lord my God, you have multiplied your wonderful works, and in your thoughts there is none who shall be likened to you: I declared and spoke [of them]: they exceeded number.

DOAMNE Dumnezeul meu, multe sunt lucrările tale minunate pe care le-ai făcut, și gândurile tale care sunt îndreptate spre noi, acestea nu îți pot fi înșirate; dacă aș dori să le vestesc și să vorbesc despre ele, sunt mai multe decât pot fi numărate.

6 Sacrifice and offering you would not; but a body have you prepared me: whole burnt offering and [sacrifice] for sin you did not require.

Sacrificiu și ofrandă nu ai dorit; urechile mele le-ai deschis, ofrandă arsă și ofrandă pentru păcat nu ai cerut.

7 Then I said, Behold, I come: in the volume of the book it is written concerning me,

Atunci am spus: Iată, eu vin, în sulul cărții este scris despre mine,

8 I desired to do your will, O my God, and your law in the midst of mine heart.

Îmi place să fac voia ta, Dumnezeul meu; da, legea ta este înăuntrul inimii mele.

9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation; behold! I will not refrain my lips; O Lord, you know my righteousness.

Am predicat dreptatea în adunarea cea mare, iată, nu mi-am înfrânat buzele; DOAMNE, tu știi aceasta.

10 I have not hid your truth within my heart, and I have declared your salvation; I have not hid your mercy and your truth from the great congregation.

Nu am ascuns dreptatea ta înăuntrul inimii mele; am vestit credincioșia ta și salvarea ta, nu am ascuns bunătatea ta iubitoare și adevărul tău de adunarea cea mare.

11 But you, Lord, remove not your compassion far from me; your mercy and your truth have helped me continually.

Nu opri îndurările tale blânde de la mine, DOAMNE, bunătatea ta iubitoare și adevărul tău să mă păstreze continuu.

12 For innumerable evils have encompassed me; my transgressions have taken hold of me, and I could not see; they are multiplied more than the hairs of my head; and my heart has failed me.

Fiindcă nenumărate rele m-au înconjurat, nelegiuirile mele m-au prins, astfel încât nu mai sunt în stare să privesc în sus; ele sunt mai multe decât perii capului meu, de aceea inima mea mă părăsește.

13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me; O Lord, draw near to help me.

Fii mulțumit, DOAMNE, să mă eliberezi, DOAMNE, grăbește-te să mă ajuți.

14 Let those that seek my soul, to destroy it, be ashamed and confounded together; let those that wish me evil be turned backward and put to shame.

Să fie rușinați și încurcați toți cei ce îmi caută sufletul pentru a-l nimici; să fie împinși înapoi și dați de rușine cei ce îmi doresc răul.

15 Let those that say to me, Aha, aha, quickly receive shame for their reward.

Să fie pustiiți ca o răsplată a rușinii lor cei ce îmi spun: Aha, aha.

16 Let all those that seek you, O Lord, exult and rejoice in you; and let them that love your salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified.

Să se veselească și să se bucure în tine toți cei ce te caută, să spună continuu cei care iubesc salvarea ta: DOMNUL fie preamărit.

17 But I am poor and needy; the Lord will take care of me; you are my helper, and my defender, O my God, delay not.

Dar eu sunt sărac și nevoiaș; totuși Domnul se gândește la mine; tu ești ajutorul meu și eliberatorul meu; nu întârzia, Dumnezeul meu.
