< Psalms 33 >

1 [A Psalm] of David. Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous; praise becomes the upright.
Kia hari ki a Ihowa, e te hunga tika: he mea ataahua te whakamoemiti ma te hunga kore he.
2 Praise the Lord on the harp; platy to him on a lute of ten strings.
3 Sing to him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.
4 For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are faithful.
No te mea he tika te kupu a Ihowa, a kei runga i te pono ana mahi katoa.
5 He loves mercy and judgment; the earth is full the mercy of the Lord.
6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were established; and all the host of them by the breath of his [mouth].
7 Who gathers the waters of the sea as [in] a bottle; who lays up the deeps in treasuries.
He mea huihui e ia nga wai o te moana, ano he puranga; he mea whawhao e ia te rire ki nga pakoro.
8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; and let all that dwell in the world be moved because of him.
9 For he spoke, and they were made; he commanded, and they were created.
I ki hoki ia, a kua oti: i whakahau, a tu tonu iho.
10 The Lord frustrates the counsels of the nations; he brings to nothing also the reasonings of the peoples, and brings to nothing the counsels of princes.
E whakataka ana e Ihowa te whakaaro o nga tauiwi: e whakakahoretia ana e ia nga meatanga a nga iwi.
11 But the counsel of the Lord endures for ever, the thoughts of his heart from generation to generation.
Ko te whakaaro o Ihowa, tu tonu ake ake; ko nga meatanga a tona ngakau kei tena whakatupuranga, kei tena whakatupuranga.
12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance.
Ka hari te iwi no ratou nei Atua a Ihowa, te iwi kua whiriwhiria e ia hei taonga tupu mona.
13 The Lord looks out of heaven; he beholds all the sons of men.
E titiro iho ana a Ihowa i te rangi: e kite ana ia i nga tama katoa a te tangata.
14 He looks from his prepared habitation on all the dwellers on the earth;
15 who fashioned their hearts alone; who understands all their works.
Nana i hanga nga ngakau o ratou katoa, e mohiotia ana e ia a ratou mahi katoa.
16 A king is not saved by reason of a great host; and a giant shall not be delivered by the greatness of his strength.
E kore tetahi kingi e ora i te nui o te ope, e kore e ora te marohirohi i te nui o te kaha.
17 A horse is vain for safety; neither shall he be delivered by the greatness of his power.
He mea teka te hoiho hei whakaora; ehara ano tona kaha nui i te mea e mawhiti ai.
18 Behold, the eyes of the Lord are on them that fear him, those that hope in his mercy;
Nana, kei runga i te hunga e wehi ana i a ia te kanohi o Ihowa, kei te hunga e tumanako ana ki tana mahi tohu;
19 to deliver their souls from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
Hei whakaora i o ratou wairua kei mate, hei mea i a ratou kia ora i te wa o te hemokai.
20 Our soul waits on the Lord; for he is our helper and defender.
Kua tatari nei o tatou wairua ki a Ihowa; ko ia to tatou kaiawhina, to tatou whakangungu rakau.
21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, and we have hoped in his holy name.
Hari tonu to tatou ngakau ki a ia; no tatou hoki i whakawhirinaki ki tona ingoa tapu.
22 Let your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we have hoped in you.
E Ihowa, hei runga i a matou tau mahi tohu; kia rite hoki ki ta matou tumanako ki a koe.
