Psalms 32
1 [A Psalm] of instruction by David. Blessed [are they] whose transgressions are forgiven, and who sins are covered.
Un psaume de méditation, de David. Heureux ceux à qui leurs péchés ont été remis, et dont les fautes ont été couvertes.
2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin, and whose mouth there is no guile.
Heureux l'homme à qui le Seigneur n'impute point de péché, et qui n'a pas de fraude sur les lèvres.
3 Because I kept silence, my bones waxed old, from my crying all the day.
Parce que j'ai gardé le silence, mes os ont vieilli, quand je criais tout le jour.
4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me: I became thoroughly miserable while a thorn was fastened in [me]. (Pause)
Jour et nuit ta main s'était appesantie sur moi; je me retournais dans ma détresse, tandis qu'une épine s'enfonçait en moi. Interlude.
5 I acknowledged my sin, and hid not mine iniquity: I said, I will confess mine iniquity to the Lord against myself; and you forgave the ungodliness of my heart. (Pause)
Je t'ai fait connaître mon péché; je n'ai point caché mon iniquité. J'ai dit: Je confesserai à Dieu mon iniquité contre moi; et tu m'as pardonné l'impiété de mon péché. Interlude.
6 Therefore shall every holy one pray to you in a fit time: only in the deluge of many waters they shall not come near to him.
A cause de cela chaque saint te fera sa prière au moment opportun; les grandes eaux même d'un déluge n'approcheront point de lui.
7 You are my refuge from the affliction that encompasses me; my joy, to deliver me from them that have compassed me. (Pause)
Tu es mon refuge dans la tribulation qui m'a environné; à toi, ô ma joie, délivre-moi de ceux qui m'ont investi. Interlude.
8 I will instruct you and guide you in this way wherein you shall go: I will fix mine eyes upon you.
Je te donnerai l'intelligence et je t'affermirai dans la voie où tu dois marcher; j'aurai toujours les yeux fixés sur toi.
9 Be you not as horse and mule, which have no understanding; [but you must] constrain their jaws with bit and curb, lest they should come near to you.
Ne soyez pas comme le cheval et le mulet, à qui manque l'intelligence: serre leur bouche avec la bride et le frein, pour qu'ils ne s'approchent point de toi.
10 Many are the scourges of the sinner: but him that hopes in the Lord mercy shall compass about.
Les flagellations réservées aux pécheurs sont nombreuses; tandis que la miséricorde du Seigneur entourera celui qui espère en lui.
11 Be glad in the Lord, and exult, you righteous: and glory, all you that are upright in heart.
Ô justes, livrez-vous dans le Seigneur à la joie et à tous ses transports; et glorifiez-vous en lui, vous tous dont le cœur est droit.
