< Psalms 30 >

1 For the end, a Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David. I will exalt you, O Lord; for you have lifted me up, and not caused mine enemies to rejoice over me.
A Canticle Psalm. In dedication to the house of David. I will extol you, Lord, for you have sustained me, and you have not allowed my enemies to delight over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried to you, and you did heal me.
O Lord my God, I have cried out to you, and you have healed me.
3 O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Hades, you have delivered me from [among] them that go down to the pit. (Sheol h7585)
Lord, you led my soul away from Hell. You have saved me from those who descend into the pit. (Sheol h7585)
4 Sing to the Lord, you his saints, and give thanks for the remembrance of his holiness.
Sing a psalm to the Lord, you his saints, and confess with remembrance of his holiness.
5 For anger is in his wrath, but life in his favor: weeping shall wait for the evening, but joy shall be in the morning.
For wrath is in his indignation, and life is in his will. Toward evening, weeping will linger, and toward morning, gladness.
6 And I said in my prosperity, I shall never be moved.
But I have said in my abundance: “I will never be disturbed.”
7 O Lord, in your good pleasure you did add strength to my beauty: but you did turn away your face, and I was troubled.
O Lord, in your will, you made virtue preferable to beauty for me. You turned your face away from me, and I became disturbed.
8 To you, O Lord, will I cry; and to my God will I make supplication.
To you, Lord, I will cry out. And I will make supplication to my God.
9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to destruction? Shall the dust give praise to you? or shall it declare your truth?
What use would there be in my blood, if I descend into corruption? Will dust confess to you or announce your truth?
10 The Lord heard, and had compassion upon me; the Lord is become my helper.
The Lord has heard, and he has been merciful to me. The Lord has become my helper.
11 You have turned my mourning into joy for me: you have tore off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
You have turned my mourning into gladness for me. You have cut off my sackcloth, and you have surrounded me with joy.
12 that my glory may sing praise to you, and I may not be pierced [with sorrow]. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you for ever.
So then, may my glory sing to you, and may I not regret it. O Lord, my God, I will confess to you for eternity.
