Psalms 27
1 [A Psalm] of David, before he was anointed. The Lord is my light and my Saviour; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the defender of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
De David. L’Éternel est ma lumière et mon salut: De qui aurais-je crainte? L’Éternel est le soutien de ma vie: De qui aurais-je peur?
2 When evil-doers drew near against me to eat up my flesh, my persecutors and mine enemies, they fainted and fell.
Quand des méchants s’avancent contre moi, Pour dévorer ma chair, Ce sont mes persécuteurs et mes ennemis Qui chancellent et tombent.
3 Though an army should set itself in array against me, my heart shall not be afraid: though war should rise up against me, in this am I confident.
Si une armée se campait contre moi, Mon cœur n’aurait aucune crainte; Si une guerre s’élevait contre moi, Je serais malgré cela plein de confiance.
4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, this will I earnestly seek: that I should dwell in the house of the Lord, all the days of my life, that I should behold the fair beauty of the Lord, and survey his temple.
Je demande à l’Éternel une chose, que je désire ardemment: Je voudrais habiter toute ma vie dans la maison de l’Éternel, Pour contempler la magnificence de l’Éternel Et pour admirer son temple.
5 For in the day of mine afflictions he hid me in his tabernacle: he sheltered me in the secret of his tabernacle; he set me up on a rock.
Car il me protégera dans son tabernacle au jour du malheur, Il me cachera sous l’abri de sa tente; Il m’élèvera sur un rocher.
6 And now, behold, he has lifted up mine head over mine enemies: I went round and offered in his tabernacle the sacrifice of joy; I will sing even sing psalms to the Lord.
Et déjà ma tête s’élève sur mes ennemis qui m’entourent; J’offrirai des sacrifices dans sa tente, au son de la trompette; Je chanterai, je célébrerai l’Éternel.
7 Hear, O Lord, my voice which I have uttered aloud: pity me, and listen to me.
Éternel! Écoute ma voix, je t’invoque: Aie pitié de moi et exauce-moi!
8 My heart said to you, I have diligently sought your face: your face, O Lord, I will seek.
Mon cœur dit de ta part: Cherchez ma face! Je cherche ta face, ô Éternel!
9 Turn not your face away from me, turn not you away from your servant in anger: be you my helper, forsake me not; and, O God my Saviour, overlook me not.
Ne me cache point ta face, Ne repousse pas avec colère ton serviteur! Tu es mon secours, ne me laisse pas, ne m’abandonne pas, Dieu de mon salut!
10 For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord has taken me to himself.
Car mon père et ma mère m’abandonnent, Mais l’Éternel me recueillera.
11 Teach me, O Lord, in your way, and guide me in a right path, because of mine enemies.
Éternel! enseigne-moi ta voie, Conduis-moi dans le sentier de la droiture, A cause de mes ennemis.
12 Deliver me not over to the desire of them that afflict me; for unjust witnesses have risen up against me, and injustice has lied within herself.
Ne me livre pas au bon plaisir de mes adversaires, Car il s’élève contre moi de faux témoins Et des gens qui ne respirent que la violence.
13 I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Oh! Si je n’étais pas sûr de voir la bonté de l’Éternel Sur la terre des vivants!…
14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and let your heart be strengthened: yes wait on the Lord.
Espère en l’Éternel! Fortifie-toi et que ton cœur s’affermisse! Espère en l’Éternel!
