Psalms 2
1 Therefore did the heathen rage, and the nations imagine vain things?
Pourquoi s’agitent les nations, et les peuples méditent-ils la vanité?
2 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers gathered themselves together, against the Lord, and against his Christ;
Les rois de la terre se lèvent, et les princes consultent ensemble contre l’Éternel et contre son Oint:
3 [saying], Let us break through their bonds, and cast away their yoke from us.
Rompons leurs liens, et jetons loin de nous leurs cordes!
4 He that dwells in the heavens shall laugh them to scorn, and the Lord shall mock them.
Celui qui habite dans les cieux se rira [d’eux], le Seigneur s’en moquera.
5 Then shall he speak to them in his anger, and trouble them in his fury.
Alors il leur parlera dans sa colère, et, dans sa fureur, il les épouvantera:
6 But I have been made king by him on Sion his holy mountain,
Et moi, j’ai oint mon roi sur Sion, la montagne de ma sainteté.
7 declaring the ordinance of the Lord: the Lord said to me, You are my Son, today have I begotten you.
Je raconterai le décret: l’Éternel m’a dit: Tu es mon Fils; aujourd’hui, je t’ai engendré.
8 Ask of me, and I will give you the heathen [for] your inheritance, and the ends of the earth [for] your possession.
Demande-moi, et je te donnerai les nations pour héritage, et, pour ta possession, les bouts de la terre;
9 You shall rule them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them in pieces as a potter's vessel.
Tu les briseras avec un sceptre de fer; comme un vase de potier tu les mettras en pièces.
10 Now therefore understand, you kings: be instructed, all you that judge the earth.
Et maintenant, ô rois, soyez intelligents; vous, juges de la terre, recevez instruction:
11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice in him with trembling.
Servez l’Éternel avec crainte, et réjouissez-vous avec tremblement;
12 Accept correction, lest at any time the Lord be angry, and you should perish from the righteous way: whenever his wrath shall be suddenly kindled, blessed are all they that trust in him.
Embrassez le Fils, de peur qu’il ne s’irrite, et que vous ne périssiez dans le chemin, quand sa colère s’embrasera tant soit peu. Bienheureux tous ceux qui se confient en lui!
