Psalms 137

1 For David, [a Psalm] of Jeremias. By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat; and wept when we remembered Sion.

ബാബേൽ നദികളുടെ തീരത്ത് ഞങ്ങളിരുന്നു സീയോനെ ഓർത്തപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങൾ കരഞ്ഞുപോയി.

2 We hung our harps on the willows in the midst of it.

അവിടെ അലരിവൃക്ഷങ്ങളിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളുടെ കിന്നരങ്ങൾ തൂക്കിയിട്ടു,

3 For there they that had taken us captive asked of us the words of a song; and they that had carried us away [asked] a hymn, [saying], Sing us [one] of the songs of Sion.

കാരണം ഞങ്ങളെ ബന്ദികളാക്കിയവർ ഞങ്ങളോടൊരു ഗാനം ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു, “സീയോൻഗീതങ്ങളിലൊന്ന് ഞങ്ങൾക്കായി ആലപിക്കുക, ആനന്ദഗാനങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നുതന്നെ,” ഞങ്ങളുടെ പീഡകർ ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചു.

4 How should we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?

ഒരു അന്യദേശത്ത് ആയിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ യഹോവയുടെ ഗാനങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ആലപിക്കാൻ കഴിയുന്നതെങ്ങനെ?

5 If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget [its skill].

ജെറുശലേമേ, നിന്നെ ഞാൻ മറക്കുന്നെങ്കിൽ, എന്റെ വലതുകരം അതിന്റെ വൈദഗ്ദ്ധ്യം മറന്നുപോകട്ടെ.

6 May my tongue cleave to my throat, if I do not remember you; if I do not prefer Jerusalem as the chief of my joy.

ഞാൻ നിന്നെ ഓർക്കാതെപോയാൽ, എന്റെ പരമാനന്ദമായ ജെറുശലേമിനെ കരുതാതെപോയാൽ എന്റെ നാവ് മേലണ്ണാക്കിനോട് ഒട്ടിച്ചേരട്ടെ.

7 Remember, O Lord, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase [it], rase [it], even to its foundations.

യഹോവേ, ജെറുശലേമിന്റെ പതനദിവസത്തിൽ, ഏദോമ്യർ ചെയ്തത് എന്താണെന്നോർക്കണമേ. “ഇടിച്ചുനിരത്തുക,” അവർ ആക്രോശിച്ചു, “അതിന്റെ അടിത്തറവരെയും തോണ്ടിയെടുക്കുക!”

8 Wretched daughter of Babylon! blessed [shall he be] who shall reward you as you have rewarded us.

ബാബേൽപുത്രീ, നശിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടാൻ പോകുന്നവളേ, നീ ഞങ്ങളോടു ചെയ്തതിനൊക്കെ പകരം വീട്ടുന്നവർ ധന്യർ.

9 Blessed [shall he be] who shall seize and dash your infants against the rock.

നിന്റെ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളെ അപഹരിക്കുന്നവർ ധന്യർ; അവരെ പാറമേൽ ആഞ്ഞടിക്കുന്നവരും!
