< Psalms 118 >

1 Alleluia. Give thanks to the Lord; for [he is] good: for his mercy [endures] for ever.
Alleluia. Confitemini Domino quoniam bonus: quoniam in saeculum misericordia eius.
2 Let now the house of Israel say, that [he is] good: for his mercy [endures] for ever.
Dicat nunc Israel quoniam bonus: quoniam in saeculum misericordia eius.
3 Let now the house of Aaron say, that [he is] good: for his mercy [endures] for ever.
Dicat nunc domus Aaron: quoniam in saeculum misericordia eius.
4 Let now all that fear the Lord say, that [he is] good: for his mercy [endures] for ever.
Dicant nunc omnes qui timent Dominum: quoniam in saeculum misericordia eius.
5 I called on the Lord out of affliction: and he listened to me, [so as to bring me] into a wide place.
De tribulatione invocavi Dominum: et exaudivit me in latitudine Dominus.
6 The Lord is my helper; and I will not fear what man shall do to me.
Dominus mihi adiutor: non timebo quid faciat mihi homo.
7 The Lord is my helper; and I shall see [my desire] upon mine enemies.
Dominus mihi adiutor: et ego despiciam inimicos meos.
8 [It is] better to trust in the Lord than to trust in man.
Bonum est confidere in Domino, quam confidere in homine:
9 [It is] better to hope in the Lord, than to hope in princes.
Bonum est sperare in Domino, quam sperare in principibus.
10 All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the Lord I repulsed them.
Omnes gentes circuierunt me: et in nomine Domini quia ultus sum in eos.
11 They completely compassed me about: but in the name of the Lord I repulsed them.
Circumdantes circumdederunt me: et in nomine Domini quia ultus sum in eos.
12 They compassed me about as bees [do] a honeycomb, and they burst into flame as fire among thorns: but in the name of the Lord I repulsed them.
Circumdederunt me sicut apes, et exarserunt sicut ignis in spinis: et in nomine Domini quia ultus sum in eos.
13 I was thrust, and sorely shaken, that I might fall: but the Lord helped me.
Impulsus eversus sum ut caderem: et Dominus suscepit me.
14 The Lord is my strength and my song, and is become my salvation.
Fortitudo mea, et laus mea Dominus: et factus est mihi in salutem.
15 The voice of exultation and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the Lord has wrought mightily.
Vox exultationis, et salutis in tabernaculis iustorum.
16 The right hand of the Lord has exalted me: the right hand of the Lord has wrought powerfully.
Dextera Domini fecit virtutem: dextera Domini exaltavit me, dextera Domini fecit virtutem.
17 I shall not die, but live, and recount the works of the Lord.
Non moriar, sed vivam: et narrabo opera Domini.
18 The Lord has chastened me sore: but he has not given me up to death.
Castigans castigavit me Dominus: et morti non tradidit me.
19 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and give praise to the Lord.
Aperite mihi portas iustitiae, ingressus in eas confitebor Domino:
20 This is the gate of the Lord: the righteous shall enter by it.
haec porta Domini, iusti intrabunt in eam.
21 I will give thanks to you; because you have heard me, and are become my salvation.
Confitebor tibi quoniam exaudisti me: et factus es mihi in salutem.
22 The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner.
Lapidem, quem reprobaverunt aedificantes: hic factus est in caput anguli.
23 This has been done of the Lord; and it is wonderful in our eyes.
A Domino factum est istud: et est mirabile in oculis nostris.
24 This is the day which the Lord has made: let us exult and rejoice in it.
Haec est dies, quam fecit Dominus: exultemus, et laetemur in ea.
25 O Lord, save now: O Lord, send now prosperity.
O Domine salvum me fac, o Domine bene prosperare:
26 Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord: we have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.
benedictus qui venit in nomine Domini. Benediximus vobis de domo Domini:
27 God is the Lord, and he has shined upon us: celebrate the feast with thick [branches, binding the victims] even to the horns of the altar.
Deus Dominus, et illuxit nobis. Constituite diem sollemnem in condensis, usque ad cornu altaris.
28 You are my God, and I will give you thanks: you are my God, and I will exalt you. I will give thanks to you, for you have heard me, and are become my salvation.
Deus meus es tu, et confitebor tibi: Deus meus es tu, et exaltabo te. Confitebor tibi quoniam exaudisti me: et factus es mihi in salutem.
29 Give thanks to the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy [endures] for ever.
Confitemini Domino quoniam bonus: quoniam in saeculum misericordia eius.
