< Psalms 107 >

1 Alleluia. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his mercy [endures] for ever.
“Mou ʻatu ʻae fakafetaʻi kia Sihova, he ʻoku angalelei ia: koeʻuhi ʻoku tolonga ʻo taʻengata ʻa ʻene ʻaloʻofa.”
2 Let them say [so] who have been redeemed by the Lord, whom he has redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
Ke lea pehē ʻe he kakai kuo huhuʻi ʻe Sihova, ʻakinautolu kuo ne huhuʻi mei he nima ʻoe fili;
3 and gathered them out of the countries, from the east, and west, and north, and south.
Pea tānaki ʻakinautolu mei he ngaahi fonua, mei he potu hahake, pea mei he potu lulunga, mei he potu tokelau, pea mei he feituʻu tonga.
4 They wandered in the wilderness in a dry land; they found no way to a city of habitation.
Naʻa nau ʻalu fano pē ʻi he toafa ʻi he hala liʻaki; naʻe ʻikai tenau ʻilo ha kolo ke nofo ai.
5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
Pea ʻi he fiekaia mo e fieinua, naʻe pongia ai honau laumālie ʻiate kinautolu.
6 Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
Pea naʻa nau toki tangi kia Sihova ʻi heʻenau tuʻutāmaki, pea ne ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi mamahi.
7 And he guided them into a straight path, that they might go to a city of habitation.
Pea naʻa ne tataki atu ʻakinautolu ʻi he hala totonu, koeʻuhi kenau hoko ki he kolo naʻe kakai.
8 Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, and his wonderful works to the children of men.
Taumaiā ke fakamālō ʻae kakai kia Sihova koeʻuhi ko ʻene ʻaloʻofa, pea koeʻuhi ko ʻene ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ki he fānau ʻae tangata!
9 For he satisfies the empty soul, and fills the hungry [soul] with good things,
He ʻoku ne fakamākona ʻae laumālie ʻoku holi, mo ne fakapito ʻaki ʻae lelei ʻae laumālie ʻoku fiekaia.
10 [even] them that sit in darkness and the shadow of death, fettered in poverty and iron;
Ko kinautolu ʻoku nofo ʻi he fakapoʻuli pea mo e ʻata ʻae mate, kuo haʻi ʻaki ʻae mamahi mo e ukamea;
11 because they rebelled against the words of God, and provoked the counsel of the Most High.
Koeʻuhi naʻa nau angatuʻu ki he ngaahi folofola ʻae ʻOtua, mo nau fehiʻa ki he akonaki ʻae fungani Māʻolunga:
12 So their heart was brought low with troubles; they were weak, and there was no helper.
Ko ia naʻa ne fakavaivaiʻi honau loto ʻi he ngāue; naʻa nau tō ki lalo, pea naʻe ʻikai ha taha ke tokoni.
13 Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction, and he saved them out of their distresses.
Pea naʻa nau toki tangi kia Sihova ʻi heʻenau tuʻutāmaki, pea ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi mamahi.
14 And he brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bonds asunder.
Naʻa ne ʻomi ʻakinautolu mei he fakapoʻuli mo e ʻata ʻoe mate, ʻo ne motuhi honau ngaahi haʻi.
15 Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, and his wonders to the children of men.
Taumaiā ke fakamālō ʻae kakai kia Sihova koeʻuhi ko ʻene ʻaloʻofa, pea koeʻuhi ko ʻene ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ki he fānau ʻae tangata!
16 For he broke to pieces the brazen gates, and crushed the iron bars.
He kuo ne maumauʻi ʻae ngaahi matapā palasa, pea ne tutuʻu ʻae ngaahi ukamea fakamaʻu.
17 He helped them out of the way of their iniquity; for they were brought low because of their iniquities.
‌ʻOku mamahi ʻae kau vale koeʻuhi ko ʻenau talangataʻa, pea mo ʻenau ngaahi hia.
18 Their soul abhorred all meat; and they drew near to the gates of death.
‌ʻOku fehiʻa honau laumālie ki he meʻakai kotoa pē; pea ʻoku nau fakaʻaʻau ki he ngaahi matapā ʻoe mate.
19 Then they cried to the Lord in their affliction, and he saved them out of their distresses.
Pea ʻoku nau toki tangi kia Sihova ʻi heʻenau tuʻutāmaki, pea ʻoku ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi mamahi.
20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them out of their destructions.
Naʻa ne fekau ʻene folofola, pea ne fakamoʻui ʻakinautolu, mo ne fakahaofi ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi meʻa fakaʻauha.
21 Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, and his wonderful works to the children of men.
Taumaiā ke fakamālō ʻae kakai kia Sihova koeʻuhi ko ʻene ʻaloʻofa, pea koeʻuhi ko ʻene ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ki he fānau ʻae tangata!
22 And let them offer to him the sacrifice of praise, and proclaim this works with exultation.
Pea tuku kenau feilaulau ʻaki ʻae ngaahi feilaulau ʻoe fakafetaʻi, mo fakahā ʻene ngaahi ngāue ʻi he fiefia.
23 They that go down to the sea in ships, doing business in many waters;
Ko kinautolu ʻoku ʻalu hifo ki he tahi ʻi he ngaahi vaka, mo fai ʻae ngāue ʻi he ngaahi vai lahi;
24 these [men] have seen the works of the Lord, and his wonders in the deep.
‌ʻOku nau mamata ki he ngaahi ngāue ʻa Sihova, mo ʻene ngaahi meʻa fakaofo ʻi he moana.
25 He speaks, and the stormy wind arises, and its waves are lifted up.
He ʻoku fekau ʻe ia, pea ʻoku fakatupu ʻae matangi mālohi, ʻaia ʻoku tupu hake ai hono ngaahi peau.
26 They go up to the heavens, and go down to the depths; their soul melts because of troubles.
‌ʻOku nau ʻalu hake ki he langi, ʻoku nau toe ʻalu hifo ki he ngaahi loloto: kuo vela ʻo vai honau laumālie koeʻuhi ko e mamahi.
27 They are troubled, they stagger as a drunkard, and all their wisdom is swallowed up.
‌ʻOku nau tasipa, pea luelue ʻo hangē ko e tangata konā, pea kuo mole honau poto kotoa pē.
28 Then they cry to the Lord in their affliction, and he brings them out of their distresses.
‌ʻOku nau toki tangi kia Sihova ʻi heʻenau tuʻutāmaki, pea ʻoku ne ʻomi ʻakinautolu mei heʻenau ngaahi mamahi.
29 And he commands the storm, and it is calmed into a gentle breeze, and its waves are still.
‌ʻOku ne ngaohi ʻae afā ke tofukī, ko ia ʻoku ʻikai ngaue ai hono peau.
30 And they are glad, because they are quiet; and he guides them to their desire haven.
Pea ʻoku nau toki fiefia koeʻuhi ʻoku nau fiemālie ai; pea ʻoku ne ʻomi ʻakinautolu ki he taulanga kuo nau holi ki ai.
31 Let them acknowledge to the Lord his mercies, and his wonderful works to the children of men.
Taumaiā ke fakamālō ʻae kakai kia Sihova koeʻuhi ko ʻene ʻaloʻofa, pea koeʻuhi ko ʻene ngaahi ngāue fakaofo ki he fānau ʻae tangata!
32 Let them exalt him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the seat of the elders.
Tuku kenau fakahikihiki ʻa ʻene ʻafio ʻi he fakataha ʻoe kakai, mo fakamālō
33 He turns rivers into a desert, and streams of water into a dry land;
‌ʻOku liliu ʻe ia ʻae ngaahi vaitafe ko e toafa, mo e ngaahi matavai ko e kelekele mōmoa;
34 a fruitful land into saltness, for the wickedness of them that dwell in it.
Mo e fonua mahu ko e hongea, koeʻuhi ko e angakovi ʻae kakai ʻoku nofo ai.
35 He turns a wilderness into pools of water, and a dry land into streams of water.
‌ʻOku ne liliu ʻae toafa ko e ano vai, mo e fonua mōmoa ko e ngaahi matavai.
36 And there he causes the hungry to dwell, and they establish for themselves cities of habitation.
Pea ʻoku ne pule ke nofo ai ʻae fiekaia, koeʻuhi kenau teuteu ʻae kolo ke nofo ai;
37 And they sow fields, and plant vineyards, and they yield fruit of increase.
Mo tūtuuʻi ʻae ngaahi ngoue, pea tō ʻae ngaahi ngoue vaine, ʻaia ʻoku faʻa ʻomi ʻae ngaahi fua kuo tupu.
38 And he blesses them, and they multiply exceedingly, and he diminishes not the number of their cattle.
‌ʻOku ne fakamonūʻia foki ʻakinautolu, ko ia kuo nau tupu ʻo tokolahi ʻaupito; pea ʻoku ʻikai te ne tuku ke fakaʻaʻau ke siʻi ʻenau fanga manu.
39 Again they become few, and are brought low, by the pressure of evils and pain.
Pea ʻoku toe fakaʻaʻau ke tokosiʻi mo vaivai ʻakinautolu ʻi he fakamālohi, mo e mahaki, mo e mamahi.
40 Contempt is poured upon their princes, and he causes them to wander in a desert and trackless land.
‌ʻOku ne lilingi ʻae manuki ki he ngaahi ʻeiki, pea ʻoku ne pule kenau ʻalu fano ʻi he toafa, ʻaia ʻoku ʻikai ha hala ʻi ai.
41 But he helps the poor out of poverty, and makes [him] families as a flock.
Ka ʻoku ne hiki hake ʻae masiva mei he mamahi, pea ʻoku ne ngaohi maʻana ʻae ngaahi kāinga ʻo hangē ko e fanga sipi.
42 The upright shall see and rejoice; and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.
‌ʻE mamata ki ai ʻae angatonu, pea fiefia; pea ʻe tāpuni ʻe he angahala kotoa pē hono ngutu.
43 Who is wise, and will observe these things, and understand the mercies of the Lord?
Ko hai ʻoku poto, pea tokanga ki he ngaahi meʻa ni, tenau ʻiloʻi ʻae ʻaloʻofa ongongofua ʻa Sihova.
