Proverbs 3
1 [My] son, forget not my laws; but let your heart keep my words:
হে আমার বাছা, তুমি আমার শিক্ষা ভুলে যেয়ো না, কিন্তু তোমার হৃদয়ে আমার আদেশগুলি সঞ্চয় করে রেখো,
2 for length of existence, and years of life, and peace, shall they add to you.
কারণ সেগুলি তোমার আয়ু বহু বছর বাড়িয়ে তুলবে ও তোমার জীবনে শান্তি ও সমৃদ্ধি নিয়ে আসবে।
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake you; but bind them about your neck:
ভালোবাসা ও বিশ্বস্ততা যেন কখনও তোমাকে ত্যাগ করে না যায়; সেগুলি তোমার গলায় বেঁধে রাখো, সেগুলি তোমার হৃদয়-ফলকে লিখে রাখো।
4 so shall you find favor: and do you provide things honest in the sight of the Lord, and of men.
তবেই তুমি ঈশ্বরের ও মানুষের দৃষ্টিতে অনুগ্রহ ও সুখ্যাতি লাভ করবে।
5 Trust in God with all your heart; and be not exalted in your own wisdom.
তুমি সর্বান্তঃকরণে সদাপ্রভুর উপর আস্থা রাখো ও নিজের বিচক্ষণতার উপর নির্ভর কোরো না;
6 In all your ways acquaint yourself with her, that she may rightly direct your paths.
তোমার সমস্ত পথে তাঁর বশ্যতাস্বীকার করো, ও তিনি তোমার পথগুলি সোজা করে দেবেন।
7 Be not wise in your own conceit; but fear God, and depart from all evil.
নিজের দৃষ্টিতে জ্ঞানবান হোয়ো না; সদাপ্রভুকে ভয় করো ও কুকর্ম এড়িয়ে চলো।
8 Then shall there be health to your body, and good keeping to your bones.
এটি তোমার দেহে স্বাস্থ্য ফিরাবে ও তোমার অস্থির পুষ্টিসাধন করবে।
9 Honor the Lord with your just labors, and give him the first of your fruits of righteousness:
সদাপ্রভুর সম্মান করো তোমার ধনসম্পদ ও তোমার সমস্ত ফসলের অগ্রিমাংশ দিয়ে;
10 that your storehouses may be completely filled with corn, and that your presses may burst forth with wine.
তবেই তোমার গোলাঘরগুলি শস্যে পরিপূর্ণ হয়ে যাবে, ও ভাঁটিগুলি নতুন দ্রাক্ষারসে উপচে পড়বে।
11 [My] son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; nor faint when you are rebuked of him:
হে আমার বাছা, সদাপ্রভুর শাসন তুচ্ছ কোরো না, ও তাঁর ভর্ৎসনা ক্ষতিকর বলে মনে কোরো না,
12 for whom the Lord loves, he rebukes, and scourges every son whom he receives.
কারণ সদাপ্রভু যাদের প্রেম করেন, তাদেরই শাস্তি দেন, যেভাবে একজন বাবা তাঁর প্রিয় ছেলেকে দেন।
13 Blessed is the man who has found wisdom, and the mortal who knows prudence.
তারাই আশীর্বাদধন্য যারা প্রজ্ঞা খুঁজে পায়, যারা বিচক্ষণতা লাভ করে,
14 For it is better to traffic for her, than for treasures of gold and silver.
কারণ প্রজ্ঞা রুপোর চেয়েও বেশি লাভজনক ও সোনার চেয়েও ভালো প্রতিদান দেয়।
15 And she is more valuable than precious stones: no evil thing shall resist her: she is well known to all that approach her, and no precious thing is equal to her in value.
প্রজ্ঞা পদ্মরাগমণির চেয়েও বেশি মূল্যবান; তোমার আকাঙ্ক্ষিত কোনো কিছুকেই তার সাথে তুলনা করা যায় না।
16 For length of existence and years of life are in her right hand; and in her left hand are wealth and glory: out of her mouth proceeds righteousness, and she carries law and mercy upon her tongue.
প্রজ্ঞার ডান হাতে দীর্ঘ পরমায়ু আছে; বাঁ হাতে ধন ও সম্মান আছে।
17 Her ways are good ways, and all her paths are peaceful.
তার পথগুলি সুখকর পথ, ও তার সব পথে শান্তি আছে।
18 She is a tree of life to all that lay hold upon her; and she is [a] secure [help] to all that stay themselves on her, as on the Lord.
যারা প্রজ্ঞাকে ধরে রাখে তাদের কাছে সে এক জীবনবৃক্ষ; যারা তাকে অটলভাবে ধরে রাখে তারা আশীর্বাদধন্য হবে।
19 God by wisdom founded the earth, and by prudence he prepared the heavens.
সদাপ্রভু প্রজ্ঞা দ্বারাই পৃথিবীর ভিত্তিমূল স্থাপন করেছেন, বিচক্ষণতা দ্বারাই তিনি আকাশমণ্ডলকে যথাস্থানে রেখেছেন;
20 By understanding were the depths broken up, and the clouds dropped water.
তাঁর জ্ঞানের দ্বারাই গভীর জলরাশি বিভক্ত হয়েছিল, ও মেঘরাশি শিশির বর্ষণ করে।
21 [My] son, let [them] not pass from [you], but keep my counsel and understanding:
হে আমার বাছা, প্রজ্ঞা ও বিচক্ষণতা যেন তোমার দৃষ্টি-বহির্ভূত না হয়, সূক্ষ্ম বিচার ও বিচক্ষণতা অক্ষুণ্ণ রেখো;
22 that your soul may live, and that there may be grace round your neck; and it shall be health to your flesh, and safety to your bones:
তোমার জন্য সেগুলি জীবনস্বরূপ হবে, তোমার গলার শোভাবর্ধক এক অলংকার হবে।
23 that you may go confidently in peace in all your ways, and that your foot may not stumble.
তখন তুমি নিরাপদে তোমার পথে চলে যাবে, ও তোমার পায়ে হোঁচট লাগবে না।
24 For if you rest, you shall be undismayed; and if you sleep, you shall slumber sweetly.
তুমি যখন শুয়ে থাকবে, তখন তুমি ভয় পাবে না; তুমি যখন শুয়ে থাকবে, তখন তোমার ঘুমও তৃপ্তিদায়ক হবে।
25 And you shall not be afraid of alarm coming upon you, neither of approaching attacks of ungodly men.
আকস্মিক বিপর্যয় দেখে ভয় পাবে না বা দুষ্টদের সর্বনাশ হতে দেখেও ভয় পাবে না,
26 For the Lord shall be over all your ways, and shall establish your foot that you be not moved.
কারণ সদাপ্রভু তোমার পাশে দাঁড়াবেন ও তোমার পা-কে ফাঁদে পড়া থেকে তিনিই রক্ষা করবেন।
27 Forbear not to do good to the poor, whenever your hand may have [power] to help [him].
যাদের মঙ্গল করা উচিত তাদের মঙ্গল করতে অসম্মত হোয়ো না, যখন তা করার ক্ষমতা তোমার আছে।
28 Say not, Come back another time, to-morrow I will give; while you are able to do [him] good: for you know not what the next day will bring forth.
তোমার প্রতিবেশীকে বোলো না, “আগামীকাল আবার এসো ও আমি তোমাকে তা দেব”— যখন তোমার কাছেই তা আছে।
29 Devise not evil against your friend, living near you and trusting in you.
তোমার সেই প্রতিবেশীর অনিষ্ট করার ষড়যন্ত্র কোরো না, যে তোমাকে বিশ্বাস করে তোমার পাশেই বসবাস করছে।
30 Be not ready to quarrel with a man without a cause, lest he do you some harm.
অকারণে কাউকে দোষারোপ কোরো না— যখন সে তোমার কোনও ক্ষতি করেনি।
31 Procure not the reproaches of bad men, neither do you covet their ways.
হিংস্র প্রকৃতির মানুষকে হিংসা কোরো না বা তাদের কোনও পথ মনোনীত কোরো না।
32 For every transgressor is unclean before the Lord; neither does he sit among the righteous.
কারণ সদাপ্রভু উচ্ছৃঙ্খলদের ঘৃণা করেন কিন্তু ন্যায়পরায়ণদের সাথে তিনি ঘনিষ্ঠতা বাড়ান।
33 The curse of God is in the houses of the ungodly; but the habitations of the just are blessed.
দুষ্টের বাড়ির উপরে সদাপ্রভুর অভিশাপ নেমে আসে, কিন্তু ধার্মিকের ঘরকে তিনি আশীর্বাদ করেন।
34 The Lord resists the proud; but he gives grace to the humble.
অহংকারী ঠাট্টা-বিদ্রুপকারীদের তিনি বিদ্রুপ করেন কিন্তু নম্র ও নিপীড়িতদের প্রতি তিনি অনুগ্রহ দেখান।
35 The wise shall inherit glory; but the ungodly have exalted [their own] dishonor.
জ্ঞানবানেরা সম্মানের অধিকারী হয়, কিন্তু মূর্খেরা শুধু লজ্জাই পায়।
