< Proverbs 23 >
1 If you sit to sup at the table of a prince, consider attentively the things set before you:

2 and apply your hand, knowing that it behoves you to prepare such [meats]: but if you are very insatiable,

3 desire not his provisions; for these belong to a false life.
E da dia hou ogogole adoba: sa: besa: le, mae uasuli moma.
4 If you are poor, measure not yourself with a rich man; but refrain yourself in your wisdom.
Di da noga: le molole dawa: ma. Di da liligi bagade gagumu hanaiba: le hawa: hamonana, dia gasa gufia: ne gala: mu da defea hame.
5 If you should fix your eye upon him, he will disappear; for wings like an eagle's are prepared for him, and he returns to the house of his master.
Dia muni amo ea ebelebe da hedolodafa si abo gelebe agoai ba: sa. Amola amo da buhiba ea ougia hinabo aligili wa: leahoabe agoai.
6 Sup not with an envious man, neither desire you his meats:
Di da gegenane uasuli nasu dunu amo ea ha: i manu ida: iwane mae uasuli moma.
7 so he eats and drinks as if any one should swallow a hair, and do not bring him in to yourself, nor eat your morsel with him:
Amo gegenane uasuli nasu dunu da eso huluane amo ha: i manu ea bidi bagadega lai amo dawa: lala. E da aowalale amane sia: sa, “Defea! Bu bagade ha: i amola waini moma!” Be e da ogogole sia: sa. Ea houdafa da ea asigi dawa: su defele gala.
8 for he will vomit it up, and spoil your fair words.
Di da dia mai liligi amo bu isole fasimu. Amola dia ema dabuagado ofa: su sia: da ogogole ofa: su sia: udigili ha: digi agoai ba: mu.
9 Say nothing in the ears of a fool, lest at any time he sneer at your wise words.
Di gagaoui dunuma moloi dawa: su sia: amo mae sia: ma. E da dia sia: ida: iwane dawa: mu da hamedei galebe.
10 Remove not the ancient landmarks; and enter not upon the possession of the fatherless:
Musa: soge alalo legei amo maedafa gua: ma. Amola guluba: mano ilia soge amo mae wamolama.
11 for the Lord is their redeemer; he is mighty, and will plead their cause with you.
Bai Hina Gode da ilima gasa bagade Gaga: su dunu esala. E da ilimagale, dima fofada: mu.
12 Apply your heart to instruction, and prepare your ears for words of discretion.
Dia olelesu dunu amo ea olelebe hamugini nabima amola noga: le hamoma.
13 Refrain not from chastening a child; for if you beat him with the rod, he shall not die.
Dia mano da wadela: le hamosea, ema hedolo se ima. Dawa: ma: ne fasea, amo mano da hame bogomu.
14 For you shall beat him with the rod, and shall deliver his soul from death. (Sheol )
Be amo dawa: ma: ne fasu da ea esalusu gaga: mu. (Sheol )
15 Son, if your heart be wise, you shall also gladden my heart;
Nagofe! Di da dawa: ida: iwane lasea, na da hahawane bagade ba: mu.
16 and your lips shall converse with my lips, if they be right.
Di da dawa: su ida: iwane sia: sia: sea, na da dima nodone dawa: mu.
17 Let not your heart envy sinners: but be you in the fear of the Lord all the day.
Wadela: i hamosu dunu ilia hamobe amoga hamomusa: , mae mudale hanama. Be eso huluane Hina Godema nodone dawa: ma.
18 For if you should keep these things, you shall have posterity; and your hope shall not be removed.
Amaiwane hamosea, di da hahawane esalumu.
19 Hear, [my] son, and be wise, and rightly direct the thoughts of your heart.
Nagofe! Nabima! Molole dawa: ma amola dia esalusu noga: le ouligima.
20 Be not a wine-bibber, neither continue long at feasts, and purchases of flesh:
Di da adini bagade nasu dunu amola ha: i fufuluba nasu dunu ilima mae gilisima.
21 for every drunkard and whoremonger shall be poor; and every sluggard shall clothe himself with tatters and ragged garments.
Feloai dunu amola ha: i fufuluba nasu dunu da hedolo liligi hame gagui dunu agoai ba: mu. Dia da ha: i nasu amola golasu amo fawane hamosea, di da gagadelai abula amo fawane ga: i ba: mu.
22 Listen, [my] son, to your father which begot you, and despise not [your mother] because she is grown old.
Nagofe! Dia ada ea sia: noga: le nabima! E da di hame hamoi ganiaba, di da hame esalala: loba. Dia ame da da: i hamosea, e da di noga: le ouligiba: le, ema nodoma.
Moloidafa hou, olelesu, molole dawa: su amola asigi dawa: su ida: iwane gala. Amo liligi bidiga lamu da defea. Be lai dagoiba: le, eno dunuma mae alofele lama. Bai amo liligi lasu defei da gadodafa.
24 A righteous father brings up [his children] well; and his soul rejoices over a wise son.
Dunu moloidafa ea ada da hahawane bagade. Dia gofe da molole dawa: su hou lai galea, di da ema nodone dawa: mu da defea.
25 Let your father and your mother rejoice over you, and let her that bore you be glad.
Nagofe! Dia ada amola ame da dia hou nodone ba: ma: ne, hou moloiwane hamoma. Dia ame hahawane ba: ma: ne hamoma.
26 [My] son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways.
Nagofe! Hamugini noga: le nabima. Na esalebe defele, dia esaloma.
27 For a strange house is a vessel full of holes; and a strange well is narrow.
Uda hina: da: i bidi lasu amola eno wadela: i hamosu uda da bogosu sani agoai gala.
28 For such a one shall perish suddenly; and every transgressor shall be cut off.
Ilia da wamolasu dunu agoane di wadela: lesimusa: desega lela. Ilia agoane hamobeba: le, dunu bagohame da ilia udama baligi fa: sa.
29 Who [has] woe? who trouble? who [has] quarrels? and who vexations and disputes? who [has] bruises without a cause? whose eyes are livid?
Nowa dunu da waini hano bagade nasea amola gaheabolo adini hogoi helesea, e da bagade da: i diosa amola mosolasu hamosa, amola eso huluane egasa. Ea si da maga: me gasagala: i amola ea da: i da udigili fofonomane gagai.
30 Are not those of them that stay long at wine? [are] not [those] of them that haunt [the places] where banquets are? Be not drunk with wine; but converse with just men, and converse [with them] openly.
31 For if you should set your eyes on bowls and cups, you shall afterwards go more naked than a pestle.
Waini hano da ulasuyei amola faigelei gelabo ganodini bubunuma heda: sa amola noga: le da: gisa. Be dafama: ne adoba: sa: besa: le, waini hano manusa: mae magesa: ima.
32 But at last [such a one] stretches himself out as one struck by a serpent, and venom is diffused through him as by a horned serpent.
Waini hano nalu, diahabe, wa: legadole, di da saya: bega gasomai agoai ba: mu.
33 Whenever your eyes shall behold a strange woman, then your mouth shall speak perverse things.
Dia da: i da felowai agoai ba: le, noga: le dawa: le sia: mu gogolei ba: mu.
34 And you shall lie as in the midst of the sea, and as a pilot in a great storm.
Di da dusagai ganodini fila heda: le ahoasea da dia hagomo sasaleabe, amo agoai ba: mu.
35 And you shall say, They struck me, and I was not pained; and they mocked me, and I knew it not: when will it be morning, that I may go and seek those with whom I may go in company?
