< Proverbs 20 >

1 Wine is an intemperate thing, and strong drink full of violence: but every fool is entangled with them.
Ju kiti hi nuijat le chatvei sosah ahin, khamna thei kiti jong hi kanah le baotamna jeng ahi. Khamna theija lop chu miching ahipoi.
2 The threat of a king differs not from the rage of a lion; and he that provokes him sins against his own soul.
Lengpa lunghan kigin nahi keipi bahkai ngih tobang ahin, koi hileh lengpa phin lung hang chan chu ahinkhoa tijat umtah ahi.
3 [It is] a glory to a man to turn aside from railing; but every fool is entangled with such matters.
Kinah baotamna’a kon kidalse ding hi mijabolna ahin, mingol kiti chu mitoh kina’a baotamji ahi.
4 A sluggard when reproached is not ashamed: so also he who borrows corn in harvest.
Koi hileh nipi laiya natong nom lou chun, thaset jeh’a chang-at ding amujou lou ding ahi.
5 Counsel in a man's heart is deep water; but a prudent man will draw it out.
Mihem khat in alunggil’a angaito hi twi thuh tah tobang ahin, hinlah thil hetkhen themna nei mihem dingin; hitobang thuh tah chu twi thal’a athal ding ahi.
6 A man is valuable, and a merciful man precious: but [it is] hard to find a faithful man.
Mihem tampin ama ama kitahna cheh aphon ding, hinlah mihem kitah mong koijin amudoh tadem?
7 He that walks blameless in justice, shall leave his children blessed.
Hitobang mi chu lungthim dihtah’a lamlha pa ahin, anungjui-ah achapa te jeng jong phatthei chang ding ahi.
8 Whenever a righteous king sits on the throne, no evil thing can stand before his presence.
Athuthanna laltouna’a tou lengpan, ijakai amit tenin aven ase le apha atetoh jin ahi.
9 Who will boast that he has a pure heart? or who will boldly say that he is pure from sins?
Mihem koiham, “Kalung thim kasutheng in; kachonsetna kon in katheng tai,” tia sei ngam ding?
10 A large and small weight, and various measures, are even both of them unclean before the Lord; and [so is] he that makes them.
Thil tena dihlou le thil tena kitoh lou chu, Pakai dinga thet umtah ahi cheh lhon e.
11 A youth [when in company] with a godly man, will be restrained in his devices, and [then] his way will be straight.
Naosen jeng jong achaloh aum chan in, itobang mi ahi aphongdoh in; hijeh chun athilbol chu adih ham athenga ham ti aseidoh theijin ahi.
12 The ear hears, and the eye sees: even both of them are the Lord's work.
Kho jahna bikol hihen chule kho muna mit hijongleh, anitah’a Pakaiyin asem ahi.
13 Love not to speak ill, lest you be cut off: open your eyes, and be filled with bread.
Imut ding bou gel hih hel’in, ajeh chu vaichatnan nahin phah lo ding ahi; na mit teni hasah inlang vetan, chutileh an neh ding neng jeng junga nanei ding ahi.
Thilchoa pang pan, “Man bei ahibouve,” atin, hinlah ama chu achemang teng hoitho nan adim jitai.
Chihna le hetna kamsung'a kon thucheng hohi, sana le song mantam sang in aman tamjon ahi.
Hetkhah louhel mi kom’a thilman a kitungsa mipa chu, aponsil aboncha kichom peh a; chule hetphah louhel mite dinga hitobang mihem chu kiman jeng thei ahidem?
Koitobang khat dingin changlhah kigua kine hi atui chomdan’in angaito in, hinlah phat chomkhat jouteng akamsunga song chang tobang adim jin ahi.
Ki-thumop to themna jeh’in thilgon ho alolhing thei jin, chingthei tah’a kilam kaina jeh’a galsat’a kikonji ahi.
Akam tam le seiding hol’a chun thuguh jouse aseidoh jin, hijeh chun ngol the thua thuseipa chutoh kivop hih in.
20 The lamp of him that reviles father or mother shall be put out, and his eyeballs shall see darkness.
Koi hileh anu le apa gaosap chan chu, muthim lah’a athao mei kimut mit peh tei ding ahi.
21 A portion hastily gotten at first shall not be blessed in the end.
Apatna kino chenga kimuji nei le gou chu, achaina lam tengleh phattheina bei ding ahitai.
22 Say not, I will avenge myself on my enemy; but wait on the Lord, that he may help you.
“Keiman thilse ka lethuh ding ahi,” tinjong seihih in; Pakai ngah in chule Aman na kithopi tei ding ahi.
23 A double weight is an abomination to the Lord; and a deceitful balance is not good in his sight.
Thil tena adihlouva kimangcha chu, Pakai dinga dei-umlou tah ahi; chule thil asao le achom tena adihlou jong chu aphapoi.
24 A man's goings are directed of the Lord: how then can a mortal understand his ways?
Pakai thusah jal’a bou mihem in akal asonji ahin, achutileh mihem in amacham tah’a akalsonna ding iti ahetkhen thei ding ham?
25 It is a snare to a man hastily to consecrate some of his own property: for [in that case] repentance comes after vowing.
Ama deidan tah a, “Hiche hi thil theng ahibouve,” tia sei chu; kipal lhuhna dinga thangkol kisong ahin, hiche hin Pakaija kitepna le kigahna chu amin mai maija aphondoh ahi.
26 A wise king utterly crushes the ungodly, and will bring a wheel upon them.
Lengpa ching thei tah chun migilouho pum’a kijap bangin ajapdoh jin, achunga akol-in akipei lele sah jin ahi.
27 The spirit of man is a light of the Lord, who searches the inmost parts of the belly.
Mihem lhagao kiti hi Pakai thaomei vah ahin, hijeh chun mihem lunggil hi ahesoh keijin ahi.
28 Mercy and truth are a guard to a king, and will surround his throne with righteousness.
Kitahna le tantih neilouva ngailutna chun lengpa ahinso ahin, Alaltouna jeng jong ngailutnan ahendet ahibouve.
29 Wisdom is an ornament to young men; and grey [hairs] are the glory of old men.
Gollhang ho loupina hi athahat jal-u ahin, tehseho melhoina vang hi asam kan’u hi ahi.
30 Bruises and contusions befall bad men; and plagues [shall come] in the inward parts of [their] belly.
Thilse doudalna’a tahsa kijepna maha chu damdoi phatah ahin, hitobang kijepna chun mihem lung laigil geija asuhtheng ahi.
