< Proverbs 14 >

1 Wise women build houses: but a foolish one digs [hers] down with her hands.

2 He that walks uprightly fears the Lord; but he that is perverse in his ways shall be dishonored.
Lungdih’a lam jot chun Pakai aging in, hinlah achena jousea thilphalou gelpan Pakai anahsah jipon ahi.
3 Out of the mouth of fools [comes] a rod of pride; but the lips of the wise preserve them.
Mingol in akijepna ding akiseidoh bep jin, miching hon vang ahoidoh nadiu akiseidoh jiuvin ahi.
4 Where no oxen are, the cribs are clean; but where there is abundant produce, the strength of the ox is apparent.
Bongchal loukai ding umlouna-a chang akilamdoh ngai pon, ajeh chu bongchal thahat akon chang tampi kilam-ji ahi.
5 A faithful witness does not lie; but an unjust witness kindles falsehoods.
Mi kitah hettoh sah-a apan teng jouthu asei ngai pon, midihlou hettoh sah-a apan teng jou le nal in thu aseijin ahi.
6 You shall seek wisdom with bad men, and shall not find it; but discretion is easily available with the prudent.
Michavai hon chihna ahol-un amu jou deh pouvin, hinlah thil hetthemna neipa ding in chihna hi nailam cha ahibouve.
7 All things are adverse to a foolish man; but wise lips are the weapons of discretion.
Mingol hoa kon’in kikhin mang in, ajeh chu amaho kamsung'a kon’in chihna thu kisei japon nate.
8 The wisdom of the prudent will understand their ways; but the folly of fools leads astray.
Milungthim ching hon ajot nadiu lampi akihet-un, mingol ho vang joulhepna jeng ahi.
9 The houses of transgressors will need purification; but the houses of the just are acceptable.
Pathen in miphalou aphohsal jin, michonpha hon vang Pathen lunglhaina akimu jiuve.
10 [If] a man's mind is intelligent, his soul is sorrowful; and when he rejoices, he has no fellowship with pride.
Mihem lungthim hin gim le hesoh ahen, midang in akipanau chu ahetthem peh-un ahi.
11 The houses of ungodly men shall be utterly destroyed; but the tabernacles of them that walk uprightly shall stand.
Migilou ho inchu kiphet lhah peh ding, midih ho ponbuh vang dettah a kisong jing ding ahi.
12 There is a way which seems to be right with men, but the ends of it reach to the depths of hell. (questioned)
Mihem khat’in achena lampi chu dih-in agel jin, hinlah alampi chu ajonaleh thina ahi.
13 Grief mingles not with mirth; and joy in the end comes to grief.
Nuijat pat jeng in jong mihem alung kham jin, kipana jeng jong gimnan akichai-ji tai.
14 A stout-hearted [man] shall be filled with his own ways; and a good man with his own thoughts.
Midihlou chu achena chan’a atohga aneh ding, hitobanga chu miphan jong atohga aneh ding ahi.
15 The simple believes every word: but the prudent man betakes himself to afterthought.
Mihem meimeija um chun akisei jouse atahsan jin, miching in vang achena ding akivet phet in ahi.
16 A wise man fears, and departs from evil; but the fool trusts in himself, and joins himself with the transgressor.
Miching hon chingthei tah’in thilse apeldoh jiuvin, mingol hon vang ngol han pum’in na atong jiuve.
17 A passionate man acts inconsiderately; but a sensible man bears up under many things.
Milungchom hon ngol hoitah in thil abol jiuvin, hinlah thil hethem mivang chu atomngai ahi.
18 Fools shall have mischief for their portion; but the prudent shall take fast hold of understanding.
Mihem meimeija um chu ngolna ahin, miching hon hetna kiti hi lallukhuh a aneiju ahi.
19 Evil men shall fall before the good; and the ungodly shall attend at the gates of the righteous.
Thilse kiti phot chu thilpha masanga dilsu ding, miphalou ho jong midih ho kelkot phunga dilsu diu ahi.
20 Friends will hate poor friends; but the friends of the rich are many.
Mivaicha hohi ain-heng ho kisan in athet bol jiuvin, mihao ding in vang golpha atam jin ahi.
21 He that dishonors the needy sins: but he that has pity on the poor is most blessed.
Aheng akom ngailu lou mihem chu achonse ahin, mivaicha ho ngailua chu anunnom ahi.
22 They that go astray devise evils: but the good devise mercy and truth. The framers of evil do not understand mercy and truth: but compassion and faithfulness are with the framers of good.
Thilse jeng gel hon suhkhel anei tei jiuvin, thilpha jeng ngaito hon vang tahsanna le kitahna akimu jiuvin ahi.
23 With every one [who is] careful there is abundance: but the pleasure-taking and indolent shall be in lack.
Natoh hahsa kiti chun aphachom asoh tei ding, natoh beija thumot seina hin vaichat asoji ahi.
24 A prudent man is the crown of the wise: but the occupation of fools is evil.
Miching ho ding in chihna hi lallukhuh in apang jin, mingol ho ding in vang ngolna hi pahvui banga aki-o jiu ahi.
25 A faithful witness shall deliver a soul from evil: but a deceitful [man] kindles falsehoods.
Mikitah hettohsah a apan teng mi tampi huhdoh jin, hinlah thujou seina hin mihem amanthah sahji ahi.
26 In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and he leaves his children a support.
Pathen ging kiti hi mihem dinga kisonna ahin, achate jeng jong ama’a kisel diu ahi.
27 The commandment of the Lord is a fountain of life; and it causes [men] to turn aside from the snare of death.
Pakai gin kiti hinna twinah tobang ahin, ajeh chu mihem in thina jeng jong apeldoh-ji ahi.
28 In a populous nation is the glory of a king: but in the failure of people is the ruin of a prince.
Gamsunga cheng mipite apunbe teng lengpa loupina ahin, hinlah mihem lhomcha ahiteng milen milal dinga pannabei ahibouve.
29 A man slow to wrath abounds in wisdom: but a man of impatient spirit is very foolish.
Koi hileh lunghang vahlou chun thil hetthemna anei ahin, kino thethua lungchomna vang chun ngol-hoitah atoh doh ding ahi.
30 A meek-spirited man is a healer of the heart: but a sensitive heart is a corruption of the bones.
Lungneng tah’a umhi tahsa damna ahin, hinlah thangthipna kiti hi gu le chang in adoulal ahi.
31 He that oppresses the needy provokes his Maker: but he that honors him has pity upon the poor.
Mivaicha sugenthei hon asempau Pathen ataitom nau ahin, amavang nei lou genthei khoto them chun asempa Pathen agin ahi.
32 The ungodly shall be driven away in his wickedness: but he who is secure in his own holiness is just.
Miphalou chu toset atosah in alehkhup jin, midih ding in vang bitna aum jing in ahi.
33 There is wisdom in the good heart of a man: but in the heart of fools it is not discerned.
Thil detkhen them mi chun chihna anei jing in, mingolte lungthim sunga vang chihna in mun aneipoi.
34 Righteousness exalts a nation: but sins diminish tribes.
Thudih hin mihem namkhat adom sang in, hinlah chonsetna hin mihem nam pumpi muda achansah ahi.
35 An understanding servant is acceptable to a king; and by his good behavior he removes disgrace.
Lhacha chingtah’a natong hin, lengpa lunglam aboldoh jin, jachatna natongpa chunga lengpa alungkim jipoi.
