< Proverbs 11 >

1 False balances are an abomination before the Lord: but a just weight is acceptable to him.
Ratiri itarĩ cia ma nĩ kĩndũ kĩrĩ magigi harĩ Jehova, no nĩakenagĩra mahiga ma gũthima marĩa maigananu.
2 Wherever pride enters, there will be also disgrace: but the mouth of the lowly meditates wisdom.
Rĩrĩa mwĩtĩĩo woka, ũrũmagĩrĩrwo nĩ thoni, no kwĩnyiihia kũrehaga ũũgĩ.
3 When a just man dies he leaves regret: but the destruction of the ungodly is speedy, and causes joy.
Ũrũngĩrĩru wa arĩa marũgamĩte wega nĩũmonagĩrĩria njĩra, no andũ arĩa matarĩ ehokeku, nĩmanangagwo nĩ ũhinga wao.
4 [Possessions will not profit in a day of wrath, but righteousness will deliver from death. ]
Ũtonga ndũrĩ kĩguni mũthenya wa mangʼũrĩ, no ũthingu nĩũkũũraga mũndũ kuuma kũrĩ gĩkuũ.
5 Righteousness traces out blameless paths: but ungodliness encounters unjust dealing.
Ũthingu wa andũ arĩa matarĩ na ũcuuke ũmathondekagĩra njĩra nũngarũ, no andũ arĩa aaganu magũithagio nĩ waganu wao ene.
6 The righteousness of upright men delivers them: but transgressors are caught in their own destruction.
Ũthingu wa andũ arĩa arũngĩrĩru nĩũmahonokagia, no andũ arĩa matarĩ ehokeku nĩmategagwo nĩ merirĩria mao mooru.
7 At the death of a just man his hope does not perish: but the boast of the ungodly perishes.
Hĩndĩ ĩrĩa mũndũ mwaganu aakua, kĩĩrĩgĩrĩro gĩake nĩgũthira gĩthiraga; kĩrĩa gĩothe eerĩgĩrĩire kuuma kũrĩ ũhoti wake gĩtuĩkaga o tũhũ.
8 A righteous man escapes from a snare, and the ungodly man is delivered up in his place.
Mũndũ ũrĩa mũthingu nĩahonokagio kuuma thĩĩna-inĩ, naguo ũgaacookerera ũrĩa mwaganu.
9 In the mouth of ungodly men is a snare to citizens: but the understanding of righteous men is prosperous.
Mũndũ ũtetigĩrĩte Ngai nĩanangaga mũndũ wa itũũra na kanua gake, no arĩa athingu nĩmetharaga nĩ ũndũ wa ũmenyo.
10 In the prosperity of righteous men a city prospers: but by the mouth of ungodly men it is overthrown.
Rĩrĩa andũ arĩa athingu magaacĩra, itũũra nĩgũkena rĩkenaga; rĩrĩa andũ arĩa aaganu maathira, nĩkũrũhio kũrũũhagio.
11 [At the blessing of the upright a city shall be exalted. ]
Itũũra inene nĩrĩtũũgagĩrio nĩ ũndũ wa kĩrathimo kĩa andũ arĩa arũngĩrĩru, no nĩrĩanangagwo nĩ kanua ka andũ arĩa aaganu.
12 A man void of understanding sneers at [his fellow] citizens: but a sensible man is quiet.
Mũndũ ũtarĩ ũũgĩ wa gũkũũrana maũndũ anyũrũragia mũndũ wa itũũra rĩake, no mũndũ ũrĩ na ũtaũku nĩ gwĩkirĩra ekiragĩra.
13 A double-tongued man discloses the [secret] counsels of an assembly: but he that is faithful in spirit conceals matters.
Mũndũ wa mũhuhu nĩoimagia ndeto cia ndundu nja, no mũndũ mwĩhokeku nĩaigaga hitho.
14 They that have no guidance fall like leaves: but in much counsel there is safety.
Bũrũri ũngĩaga ũtongoria mwega nĩkũgũa ũgũũaga, no ataarani aingĩ matũmaga kũgĩe na ũhootani kũna.
15 A bad man does harm wherever he meets a just man: and he hates the sound of safety.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũrũgamagĩrĩra thiirĩ wa mũndũ ũngĩ ti-itherũ nĩagathĩĩnĩka, no mũndũ ũrĩa wothe wagaga kũrũgamĩrĩra mũndũ thiirĩ atũũraga na thayũ.
16 A gracious wife brings glory to her husband: but a woman hating righteousness is a theme of dishonor. The slothful come to lack: but the diligent support themselves with wealth.
Mũndũ-wa-nja mũtaana nĩegĩagĩra gĩtĩĩo, no arũme arĩa matarĩ tha no ũtonga magĩaga naguo.
17 A merciful man does good to his own soul: but the merciless destroys his own body.
Mũndũ mũtaana egunaga we mwene, no mũndũ ũtarĩ tha erehagĩra thĩĩna we mwene.
18 An ungodly man performs unrighteous works: but the seed of the righteous is a reward of truth.
Mũndũ mwaganu athũkũmaga mũcaara wa kũmũheenia, no ũrĩa ũhaandaga ũthingu nĩagethaga irĩhi rĩa ma.
19 A righteous son is born for life: but the persecution of the ungodly [ends] in death.
Mũndũ ũrĩa mũthingu kũna nĩagatũũra muoyo, no mũndũ ũrĩa ũrũmagĩrĩra waganu nĩ gũkua agaakua.
20 Perverse ways are an abomination to the Lord: but all they that are blameless in their ways are acceptable to him.
Andũ arĩa marĩ ngoro ya rũtũrĩko nĩ kĩndũ kĩrĩ magigi harĩ Jehova, no nĩakenagio nĩ andũ arĩa njĩra ciao itarĩ ũcuuke.
21 He that unjustly strikes hands shall not be unpunished: but he that sows righteousness he shall receive a faithful reward.
Ti-itherũ mũndũ mwaganu ndakaaga kũherithio, no andũ arĩa athingu nĩmakahonokio.
22 As an ornament in a swine's snout, so is beauty to an ill-minded women.
Mũndũ-wa-nja mũthaka ũtarĩ ũgereri ahaana ta gĩcũhĩ gĩa thahabu kĩrĩ iniũrũ-inĩ rĩa ngũrwe.
23 All the desire of the righteous is good: but the hope of the ungodly shall perish.
Wendi wa mũndũ mũthingu ũrĩkagĩrĩria o wega-inĩ, no kĩĩrĩgĩrĩro kĩa mũndũ ũrĩa mwaganu kĩrĩĩkagĩrĩria mangʼũrĩ-inĩ.
24 There are [some] who scatter their own, and make it more: and there are [some] also who gather, [yet] have less.
Kũrĩ mũndũ ũheanaga na ũtaana, nake agakĩrĩrĩria kũgĩa na indo; ũngĩ atuĩkaga mũkarĩ mũno, no agathiĩ o na mbere gũthĩĩna.
25 Every sincere soul is blessed: but a passionate man is not graceful.
Mũndũ mũtaana nĩakagaacĩra; ũrĩa ũnyootoraga arĩa angĩ o nake mwene nĩakanyootorwo.
26 May he that hoards corn leave it to the nation: but blessing be on the head of him that gives [it].
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũregaga kwenderia andũ mbembe iria aigĩte nĩarumagwo nĩ andũ, no mũndũ ũrĩa ũciendagia, kĩrathimo kĩrĩkoragwo mũtwe-inĩ wake.
27 He that devises good [counsels] seeks good favor: but [as for] him that seeks after evil, [evil] shall overtake him.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũcaragia maũndũ mega arĩonaga o wega, no ũrĩa ũcaragia maũndũ mooru no mo marĩmũkoraga.
28 He that trusts in wealth shall fall; but he that helps righteous men shall rise.
Mũndũ ũrĩa wothe wĩhokaga ũtonga wake nĩkũgũa akaagũa, no arĩa athingu makaagaacĩra ta ithangũ rĩrĩa iruru.
29 He that deals not graciously with his own house shall inherit the wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise man.
Mũndũ ũrĩa ũnyamaragia mũciĩ wake akaagaya o rũhuho, nake mũndũ mũkĩĩgu agaatuĩka ndungata ya ũrĩa mũũgĩ.
30 Out of the fruit of righteousness grows a tree of life; but the souls of transgressors are cut off before their time.
Maciaro ma andũ arĩa athingu nĩ mũtĩ wa muoyo, nake mũndũ ũrĩa mũũgĩ nĩaguucagĩrĩria ngoro cia andũ.
31 If the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
Angĩkorwo andũ arĩa athingu nĩmarĩhagwo marĩ gũkũ thĩ-rĩ, githĩ arĩa matetigĩrĩte Ngai na arĩa ehia matikarĩhwo makĩria!
