Nehemiah 7
1 And it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
जब शहरपनाह बनाने का काम पूरा हो गया, मैंने पल्लों को ठीक जगह पर बैठा दिया और द्वारपालों, गायकों और लेवियों को चुना,
2 that I gave charge to Ananias my brother, and Ananias the ruler of the palace, over Jerusalem: for he was a true man, and one that feared God beyond many.
मैंने अपने भाई हनानी और गढ़ के हाकिम हननियाह को येरूशलेम का अधिकारी ठहरा दिया, क्योंकि हननियाह विश्वासयोग्य व्यक्ति था और वह परमेश्वर का बहुत भय मानने वाला व्यक्ति था.
3 And I said to them, The gates of Jerusalem shall not be opened till sunrise; and while they are still watching, let the doors be shut, and bolted; and set watches of them that dwell in Jerusalem, [every] man at his post, and [every] man over against his house.
उनके लिए मेरा आदेश था, “जब तक सूरज में गर्मी रहे येरूशलेम के फाटक न खोले जाएं और जब तक पहरेदार द्वार पर खड़े ही होंगे, द्वार बंद ही रखे जाएं और उनमें चिटकनी लगी रहे. जो द्वारपाल ठहराए जाएं, वे येरूशलेम के रहनेवाले ही हों; हर एक को अपने-अपने निर्दिष्ट स्थानों पर और शेष अपने घरों के सामने के द्वार पर खड़ा किये जाए.”
4 Now the city [was] wide and large; and the people [were] few in it, and the houses were not built.
नगर फैला हुआ और बड़ा था, किंतु निवासियों की गिनती थोड़ी ही थी और अभी घर नहीं बने थे.
5 And God put [it] into my heart, and I gathered the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, into companies: and I found a register of the company that came up first, and I found written in it as follows:
तब मेरे परमेश्वर ने मेरे मन में यह विचार डाला कि रईसों, अधिकारियों और प्रजा को इकट्ठा किया जाए कि वंशावली के अनुसार उन्हें गिना जाए. मुझे वह पुस्तक भी मिल गई, जिसमें उन व्यक्तियों के नाम लिखे थे, जो सबसे पहले यहां पहुंचे थे. मुझे उस पुस्तक में जो लेखा मिला, वह इस प्रकार था:
6 Now these [are] the children of the country, that came up from captivity, of the number which Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon carried away, and they returned to Jerusalem and to Juda, [every] man to his city;
इस प्रदेश के वे लोग, जो बाबेल के राजा नबूकदनेज्ज़र द्वारा बंधुआई में ले जाए गए थे और जो बंधुआई से यहूदिया और येरूशलेम, अपने-अपने नगर को लौट आए थे, वे इस प्रकार हैं
7 with Zorobabel, and Jesus, and Neemia, Azaria, and Reelma, Naemani, Mardochaeus, Balsan, Maspharath, Esdra, Boguia, Inaum, Baana, Masphar, men of the people of Israel.
वे ज़ेरुब्बाबेल, येशुआ, नेहेमियाह, अज़रियाह, रामियाह, नाहामानी, मोरदकय, बिलषान, मिसपार, बिगवाई, नेहुम और बाअनाह के साथ लौटे थे. कुल-पिताओं के नाम के अनुसार इस्राएल देश के पुरुषों की गिनती थी:
8 The children of Phoros, two thousand one hundred and seventy-two.

शलोमोन के सेवकों के वंशज इन वंशों से: सोताई, हसोफेरेथ, पेरिदा,
58 the children of Jelel, the children of Dorcon, the children of Gadael,
याला, दारकोन, गिद्देल,
59 the children of Saphatia, the children of Ettel, the children of Phacarath, the children of Sabaim, the children of Emim.
शेपाथियाह, हत्तील, पोचेरेथ-हज्ज़ेबाइम, अमोन.
60 All the Nathinim, and children of the servants of Solomon, [were] three hundred and ninety-two.
मंदिर के सेवक और शलोमोन के सेवकों की कुल गिनती 392
61 And these went up from Thelmeleth, Thelaresa, Charub, Eron, Jemer: but they could not declare the houses of their families, or their seed, whether they were of Israel.
ये व्यक्ति वे हैं, जो तेल-मेलाह, तेल-हरषा, करूब, अद्दान तथा इम्मर से आए, तथा इनके पास अपनी वंशावली के सबूत नहीं थे, कि वे इस्राएल के वंशज थे भी या नहीं:
62 The children of Dalaia, the children of Tobia, the children of Necoda, six hundred and forty-two.
देलाइयाह के वंशज, तोबियाह के वंशज तथा नेकोदा के वंशज, 642
63 And of the priests; the children of Ebia, the children of Acos, the children of Berzelli, for they took wives of the daughters of Berzelli the Galaadite, and they were called by their name.
पुरोहितों में: होबाइयाह के वंशज, हक्कोज़ के वंशज तथा बारज़िल्लाई, जिसने गिलआदवासी बारज़िल्लाई की पुत्रियों में से एक के साथ विवाह किया था, और उसने उन्हीं का नाम रख लिया.
64 These sought the pedigree of their company, and it was not found, and they were removed [as polluted] from the priesthood.
इन्होंने अपने पुरखों के पंजीकरण की खोज की, किंतु इन्हें सच्चाई मालूम न हो सकी; तब इन्हें सांस्कृतिक रूप से अपवित्र माना गया तथा इन्हें पुरोहित की जवाबदारी से दूर रखा गया.
65 And the Athersastha said, that they should not eat of the most holy things, until a priest should stand up to give light.
अधिपति ने उन्हें आदेश दिया कि वे उस समय तक अति पवित्र भोजन न खाएं, जब तक वहां कोई ऐसा पुरोहित न हो, जो उरीम तथा थुम्मिन से सलाह न ले लें.
66 And all the congregation was about forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty,
सारी सभा की पूरी संख्या हुई 42,360.
67 besides their menservants and their maidservants: these were seven thousand three hundred and thirty seven: and the singing-men and singing-women, two hundred and forty-five.
इनके अलावा 7,337 दास-दासियां तथा 245 गायक-गायिकाएं भी थी.
उनके घोड़ों की गिनती 736 और खच्चरों की 245,
69 Two thousand seven hundred asses.
ऊंटों की 435 और गधों की गिनती 620 थी.
70 And part of the heads of families gave into the treasury to Neemias for the work a thousand pieces of gold, fifty bowls, and thirty priests' [garments].
पूर्वजों के परिवारों के प्रधानों ने इस काम के लिए आर्थिक सहायता दी. राज्यपाल ने खजाने में 1,000 सोने के द्राखमा, 50 चिलमचियां और पुरोहितों के लिए ठहराए गए 530 अंगरखे दिए.
71 And [some] of the heads of families gave into the treasuries of the work, twenty thousand pieces of gold, and two thousand three hundred pounds of silver.
पूर्वजों के परिवारों के कुछ प्रधानों ने इस काम के लिए खजाने में 20,000 सोने के द्राखमा और 2,200 चांदी मीना दिए.
72 And the rest of the people gave twenty thousand pieces of gold, and two thousand two hundred pounds of silver, and sixty-seven priests' [garments].
वह सब, जो बाकी लोगों ने भेंट में दिया, वह था कुल 20,000 सोने के द्राखमा, 2,000 चांदी मीना और पुरोहितों के 67 अंगरखे.
73 And the priests, and Levites, and porters, and singers, and [some] of the people, and the Nathinim, and all Israel, lived in their cities.
अब पुरोहित, लेवी, द्वारपाल, गायक, कुछ सामान्य प्रजाजन, मंदिर के सेवक, जो सभी इस्राएल वंशज ही थे, अपने-अपने नगरों में रहने लगे. सातवें महीने तक पूरा इस्राएल अपने-अपने नगर में बस चुका था.
