Naum 2
1 It is all over with him, he has been removed, [one] who has been delivered from affliction has come up panting into your presence, watch the way, strengthen [your] loins, be very valiant in [your] strength.
Hỡi Ni-ni-ve, người tàn phá đang tiến quân đánh thẳng vào ngươi. Hãy bảo vệ các đồn lũy! Canh phòng các trục giao thông! Hãy chuẩn bị chiến đấu! Tăng cường quân lực!
2 For the Lord has turned aside the pride of Jacob, as the pride of Israel: for they have utterly rejected them, and have destroyed their branches.
Vì Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ phục hồi vinh quang cho Gia-cốp, như vinh quang của Ít-ra-ên dù những kẻ hủy diệt đã phá tan hoang và tiêu diệt hết các vườn nho của chúng.
3 [They have destroyed] the arms of their power from among men, their mighty men sporting with fire: the reins of their chariots [shall be destroyed] in the day of his preparation, and the horsemen shall be thrown into confusion
Thuẫn khiên của lính chiến màu đỏ! Quân phục các binh sĩ cũng đỏ! Trong ngày dàn trận chuẩn bị giáp chiến, kim khí trên chiến xa lòe sáng như chớp, với một rừng gươm giáo vung trên chúng.
4 in the ways, and the chariots shall clash together, and shall be entangled in each other in the broad ways: their appearance is as lamps of fire, and as gleaming lightnings.
Các chiến xa chạy như bão trong các đường phố, qua lại vùn vụt trên các thông lộ. Mỗi chiếc đều sáng lòe như bó đuốc và chạy nhanh như chớp.
5 And their mighty men shall bethink themselves and flee by day; and they shall be weak as they go; and they shall hasten to her walls, and shall prepare their defences.
Vua triệu tập các quân đội; họ vấp ngã khi chạy ra các chiến lũy, khiên thuẫn sẵn sàng.
6 The gates of the cities have been opened, and the palaces have fallen into ruin,
Các sông cái sẽ bật mở! Cung điện sẽ đổ sập!
7 and the foundation has been exposed; and she has gone up, and her maidservants were led [away] as doves moaning in their hearts.
Sắc lệnh đày ải Ni-ni-ve được ban ra, những tớ gái khóc than vì bị bắt. Họ rên rỉ như bồ câu và đấm ngực đau khổ.
8 And [as for] Nineve, her waters [shall be] as a pool of water: and they fled, and staid not, and there was none to look back.
Ni-ni-ve giống như một hồ nứt cạn nước! Dân chúng chạy trốn. Có tiếng hô: “Dừng lại! Dừng lại!” nhưng không ai quay lại.
9 They plundered the silver, they plundered the gold, and there was no end of their adorning; they were loaded [with it] upon all their pleasant vessels.
Hãy chiếm đoạt bạc và vàng. Vì kho tàng bảo vật Ni-ni-ve thật vô hạn— tài sản quý giá nhiều vô số.
10 [There is] thrusting forth, and shaking, and tumult, and heart-breaking, and loosing of knees, and pangs on all loins; and the faces of all [are] as the blackening of a pot.
Nó bị tàn phá và bị cướp sạch chẳng còn gì cả. Lòng dân tan chảy và các đầu gối đập vào nhau. Chúng đứng sửng run rẩy, mặt mày tái xanh.
11 Where is the dwelling-place of the lions, and the pasture that belonged to the whelps? where did the lion go, that the lion's whelp should enter in there, and there was none to scare [him] away?
Ni-ni-ve từng nổi tiếng một thời, như sư tử hùng cứ sơn lâm. Nó tạo riêng cho mình một cõi, để sư tử đực, sư tử cái dạo chơi, để sư tử con nô đùa không biết sợ.
12 The lion seized enough prey for his whelps, and strangled for his [young] lions, and filled his lair with prey, and his dwelling-place with spoil.
Sư tử xé thịt cho đàn con, bóp họng thú rừng để thết đãi sư tử cái. Tích trữ đầy mồi trong hang trong động. Nhưng bây giờ Ni-ni-ve ở đâu?
13 Behold, I am against you, says the Lord Almighty, and I will burn up your multitude in the smoke, and the sword shall devour your lions; and I will utterly destroy your prey from off the land, and your deeds shall no more at all be heard of.
Chúa Hằng Hữu Vạn Quân phán: “Này, Ta chống lại ngươi! Ta sẽ đốt các chiến xa ngươi trong khói lửa và các thanh niên ngươi sẽ bị lưỡi gươm tàn sát. Ta sẽ chấm dứt việc ngươi lùng bắt tù binh và thu chiến lợi phẩm khắp mặt đất. Tiếng của các sứ thần ngươi sẽ chẳng còn được lắng nghe.”
