< Naum 2 >

1 It is all over with him, he has been removed, [one] who has been delivered from affliction has come up panting into your presence, watch the way, strengthen [your] loins, be very valiant in [your] strength.
He has come up [one who] scatters on face your guard [the] fortification watch [the] road strengthen [the] loins make strong strength exceedingly.
2 For the Lord has turned aside the pride of Jacob, as the pride of Israel: for they have utterly rejected them, and have destroyed their branches.
For he will restore Yahweh [the] majesty of Jacob like [the] majesty of Israel for they have laid waste to them [those who] lay waste and branches their they have destroyed.
3 [They have destroyed] the arms of their power from among men, their mighty men sporting with fire: the reins of their chariots [shall be destroyed] in the day of his preparation, and the horsemen shall be thrown into confusion
[the] shield of Warriors his [is] dyed red men of strength [are] clothed in scarlet [are] in fire of iron the chariotry on [the] day prepares he and the cypresses they have been made to quiver.
4 in the ways, and the chariots shall clash together, and shall be entangled in each other in the broad ways: their appearance is as lamps of fire, and as gleaming lightnings.
In the streets they drive madly the chariotry they rush around! in the open places appearance their [are] like torches like lightning flashes they run around.
5 And their mighty men shall bethink themselves and flee by day; and they shall be weak as they go; and they shall hasten to her walls, and shall prepare their defences.
He remembers nobles his they stumble (on journey their *Q(K)*) they hurry wall its and it is prepared the cover.
6 The gates of the cities have been opened, and the palaces have fallen into ruin,
[the] gates of The rivers they have been opened and the palace it has melted away.
7 and the foundation has been exposed; and she has gone up, and her maidservants were led [away] as doves moaning in their hearts.
And it has been fixed it was uncovered it was taken away and maidservants its [are] moaning like [the] sound of doves [they are] beating on hearts their.
8 And [as for] Nineve, her waters [shall be] as a pool of water: and they fled, and staid not, and there was none to look back.
And Nineveh [was] like a pool of water from [the] days of it and they [are] fleeing stop stop and there not [is one who] turns back.
9 They plundered the silver, they plundered the gold, and there was no end of their adorning; they were loaded [with it] upon all their pleasant vessels.
Plunder silver plunder gold and there not [is] an end to the supply abundance from every article of preciousness.
10 [There is] thrusting forth, and shaking, and tumult, and heart-breaking, and loosing of knees, and pangs on all loins; and the faces of all [are] as the blackening of a pot.
Emptiness and emptiness and devastation and heart [is] melting and [are] tottering knees and anguish [is] in all loins and [the] faces of all of them they have gathered a glow.
11 Where is the dwelling-place of the lions, and the pasture that belonged to the whelps? where did the lion go, that the lion's whelp should enter in there, and there was none to scare [him] away?
Where? [is the] dwelling place of lions and [is] pasture it for young lions where it walked lion lioness there cub of lion and there not [was one who] disturbed [them].
12 The lion seized enough prey for his whelps, and strangled for his [young] lions, and filled his lair with prey, and his dwelling-place with spoil.
[the] lion [was] tearing For [the] sufficiency of cubs its and [was] strangling for lionesses its and it filled prey hole its and dens its torn flesh.
13 Behold, I am against you, says the Lord Almighty, and I will burn up your multitude in the smoke, and the sword shall devour your lions; and I will utterly destroy your prey from off the land, and your deeds shall no more at all be heard of.
Here I [am] against you [the] utterance of Yahweh of hosts and I will burn in smoke chariotry its and young lions your it will consume [the] sword and I will cut off from [the] earth prey your and not it will be heard again [the] voice of messengers your.
