Lamentations 5
1 Remember, O Lord, what has happened to us: behold, and look on our reproach.
| اذْكُرْ يَا رَبُّ مَا أَصَابَنَا. انْظُرْ وَعَايِنْ عَارَنَا. | ١ |
2 Our inheritance has been turned away to aliens, our houses to strangers:
| قَدْ تَحَوَّلَ مِيرَاثُنَا إِلَى الْغُرَبَاءِ وَبُيُوتُنَا إِلَى الأَجَانِبِ. | ٢ |
3 we are become orphans, we have no father, our mothers are as widows.
| أَصْبَحْنَا أَيْتَاماً لَا أَبَ لَنَا، وَأُمَّهَاتُنَا كَالأَرَامِلِ. | ٣ |
4 We have drunk our water for money; our wood is sold to us [for a burden] on our neck:
| بِالْفِضَّةِ شَرِبْنَا مَاءَنَا. وَبِثَمَنٍ ابْتَعْنَا حَطَبَنَا. | ٤ |
5 we have been persecuted, we have laboured, we have had no rest.
| دَاسَ مُضْطَهِدُونَا أَعْنَاقَنَا، أَعْيَيْنَا وَلَمْ نَجِدْ رَاحَةً. | ٥ |
6 Egypt gave the hand [to us], Assur to their own satisfaction.
| خَضَعْنَا بَاسِطِينَ أَيْدِينَا إِلَى أَشُّورَ وَمِصْرَ لِنَشْبَعَ خُبْزاً. | ٦ |
7 Our fathers sinned, [and] are not: we have borne their iniquities.
| قَدْ أَخْطَأَ آبَاؤُنَا، وَتَوَارَوْا عَنِ الْوُجُودِ، وَنَحْنُ نَتَحَمَّلُ عِقَابَ آثَامِهِمْ. | ٧ |
8 Servants have ruled over us: there is none to ransom [us] out of their hand.
| تَسَلَّطَ عَلَيْنَا عَبِيدٌ، وَلَيْسَ مَنْ يُنْقِذُنَا مِنْ أَيْدِيهِمْ. | ٨ |
9 We shall bring in our bread with [danger of] our lives, because of the sword of the wilderness.
| بِأَنْفُسِنَا نَأْتِي بِخُبْزِنَا مُجَازِفِينَ بِحَيَاتِنَا مِنْ جَرَّاءِ السَّيْفِ الْكَامِنِ لَنَا فِي الصَّحْرَاءِ. | ٩ |
10 Our skin is blackened like an oven; they are convulsed, because of the storms of famine.
| جِلْدُنَا مُلْتَهِبٌ كَتَنُّورٍ مِنْ نِيرَانِ الْجُوعِ الْمُحْرِقَةِ. | ١٠ |
11 They humbled the women in Sion, the virgins in the cities of Juda.
| اغْتَصَبُوا النِّسَاءَ فِي صِهْيَوْنَ وَالْعَذَارَى فِي مُدُنِ يَهُوذَا. | ١١ |
12 Princes were hanged up by their hands: the elders were not honored.
| عُلِّقَ النُّبَلاءُ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ وَلَمْ يُوَقِّرُوا الشُّيُوخَ. | ١٢ |
13 The chosen men lifted up [the voice in] weeping, and the youths fainted under the wood.
| سَخَّرُوا الشُّبَّانَ لِلطَّحْنِ، وَهَوَى الصِّبْيَانُ تَحْتَ الْحَطَبِ. | ١٣ |
14 And the elders ceased from the gate, the chosen men ceased from their music.
| هَجَرَ الشُّيُوخُ بَوَّابَةَ الْمَدِينَةِ، وَكَفَّ الشُّبَّانُ عَنْ غِنَائِهِمْ. | ١٤ |
15 The joy of our heart has ceased; our dance is turned into mourning.
| انْقَطَعَ فَرَحُ قَلْبِنَا وَتَحَوَّلَ رَقْصُنَا إِلَى نَوْحٍ. | ١٥ |
16 The crown has fallen [from] our head: yes, woe to us! for we have sinned.
| تَهَاوَى إِكْلِيلُ رَأْسِنَا، فَوَيْلٌ لَنَا لأَنَّنَا قَدْ أَخْطَأْنَا. | ١٦ |
17 For this has grief come; our heart is sorrowful: for this our eyes are darkened.
| لِهَذَا غُشِيَ عَلَى قُلُوبِنَا، وَأَظْلَمَتْ عُيُونُنَا. | ١٧ |
18 Over the mountain of Sion, because it is made desolate, foxes have walked therein.
| لأَنَّ جَبَلَ صِهْيَوْنَ أَضْحَى أَطْلالاً تَرْتَعُ فِيهِ الثَّعَالِبُ. | ١٨ |
19 But you, O Lord, shall dwell for ever; your throne [shall endure] to generation and generation.
| أَمَّا أَنْتَ يَا رَبُّ، فَتَمْلِكُ إِلَى الأَبَدِ، وَعَرْشُكَ ثَابِتٌ مِنْ جِيلٍ إِلَى جِيلٍ. | ١٩ |
20 Therefore will you utterly forget us, and abandon us a long time?
| لِمَاذَا تَنْسَانَا إِلَى الأَبَدِ وَتَتْرُكُنَا طُولَ الأَيَّامِ؟ | ٢٠ |
21 Turn us, O Lord, to you, and we shall be turned; and renew our days as before.
| رُدَّنَا يَا رَبُّ إِلَيْكَ فَنَرْجِعَ. جِدِّدْ أَيَّامَنَا كَمَا فِي الْعُهُودِ السَّالِفَةِ. | ٢١ |
22 For you have indeed rejected us; you have been very angry against us.
| إِلا إِنْ كُنْتَ قَدْ رَفَضْتَنَا كُلَّ الرَّفْضِ وَغَضِبْتَ عَلَيْنَا أَشَدَّ الْغَضَبِ. | ٢٢ |
