< Lamentations 4 >
1 ALEPH. How will the gold be tarnished, [and] the fine silver changed! the sacred stones have been poured forth at the top of all the streets.
Báwo ni wúrà ṣe sọ ògo dídán rẹ̀ nù, wúrà dídára di àìdán! Òkúta ibi mímọ́ wá túká sí oríta gbogbo òpópó.
2 BETH. The precious sons of Zion, who were equalled in value with gold, how are they counted as earthen vessels, the works of the hands of the potter!
Báwo ni àwọn ọ̀dọ́mọkùnrin Sioni tí ó ṣe iyebíye, tí wọ́n fi wúrà dídára ṣe wá dàbí ìkòkò amọ̀ lásán iṣẹ́ ọwọ́ amọ̀kòkò!
3 GIMEL. Nay, serpents have drawn out the breasts, they give suck to their young, the daughters of my people are incurably cruel, as an ostrich in a desert.
Àwọn ajáko pèsè ọmú wọn fún ìtọ́jú àwọn ọmọ wọn, ṣùgbọ́n àwọn ènìyàn mi wá láì lọ́kàn bí ògòǹgò ní aginjù.
4 DALETH. The tongue of the sucking child cleaves to the roof of its mouth for thirst: the little children ask for bread, [and] there is none to break [it] to them.
Nítorí òǹgbẹ, ahọ́n àwọn ọmọ ọwọ́ lẹ̀ mọ́ òkè ẹnu wọn; àwọn ọmọdé bẹ̀bẹ̀ fún oúnjẹ, ṣùgbọ́n kò sí ẹni tí ó fi fún wọn.
5 HE. They that feed on dainties are desolate in the streets: they that used to be nursed in scarlet have clothed themselves with dung.
Àwọn tí ó ń jẹ ohun dáradára di òtòṣì ní òpópó. Àwọn tí a fi aṣọ dáradára wọ̀ ni wọ́n sùn ní orí òkìtì eérú.
6 VAU. And the iniquity of the daughter of my people has been increased beyond the iniquities of Sodoma, [the city] that was overthrown very suddenly, and none laboured against her [with their] hands.
Ìjìyà àwọn ènìyàn mi tóbi ju ti Sodomu lọ, tí a sí ní ipò ní òjijì láìsí ọwọ́ láti ràn án lọ́wọ́.
7 ZAIN. Her Nazarites were made purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were purified [as] with fire, their polishing was superior to sapphire stone.
Ọmọ ọba ọkùnrin wọn mọ́ ju òjò-dídì, wọ́n sì funfun ju wàrà lọ wọ́n ni ìtọ́jú bí iyùn pupa, ìrísí wọn dàbí safire.
8 HETH. Their countenance is become blacker than smoke; they are not known in the streets: their skin has cleaved to their bones; they are withered, they are become as a stick.
Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí wọ́n dúdú ju èédú; wọn kò sì dá wọn mọ̀ ní òpópó. Ara wọn hun mọ́ egungun; ó sì gbẹ bí igi gbígbẹ.
9 TETH. The slain with the sword were better than they that were slain with hunger: they have departed, pierced through from [lack of] the fruits of the field.
Àwọn tí ó kù nípasẹ̀ idà sàn ju àwọn tí ìyàn pa; tí ó wọ àkísà ebi, tí ó ń ṣòfò fún àìní oúnjẹ láti inú pápá.
10 JOD. The hands of tender-hearted women have sodden their own children: they became meat for them in the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Pẹ̀lú ọwọ́ àwọn obìnrin aláàánú ni wọ́n ṣe ọmọ wọn jẹ tí ó di oúnjẹ fún wọn nígbà tí a pa àwọn ènìyàn mi run.
11 CHAPH. The Lord has accomplished his wrath; he has poured out fierce anger, and has kindled a fire in Sion, and it has devoured her foundations.
Olúwa ti fi ihò kíkún fún ìbínú rẹ̀; ó sì tú ìbínú gbígbóná rẹ̀ jáde. Ó da iná ní Sioni tí ó jó ìpìlẹ̀ rẹ̀ run.
12 LAMED. The kings of the earth, [even] all that dwell in the world, believed not that an enemy and oppressor would enter through the gates of Jerusalem.
Àwọn ọba ayé kò gbàgbọ́, tàbí àwọn ènìyàn ayé, wí pé àwọn ọ̀tá àti aninilára le wọ odi ìlú Jerusalẹmu.
13 MEM. For the sins of her prophets, [and] iniquities of her priests, who shed righteous blood in the midst of her,
Èyí ṣẹlẹ̀ nítorí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ àwọn wòlíì àti àìṣedéédéé àwọn olórí àlùfáà, tí ó ta ẹ̀jẹ̀ àwọn olódodo sílẹ̀ láàrín rẹ̀.
14 NUN. her watchmen staggered in the streets, they were defiled with blood in their weakness, they touched their raiment [with it].
Nísinsin yìí wọ́n ń rìn kiri ní òpópó bí ọkùnrin tí ó fọ́jú. Ẹ̀jẹ̀ ara wọn sọ wọ́n di àbàwọ́n tí kò sẹ́ni tó láyà láti fọwọ́ kan aṣọ wọn.
15 SAMECH. Depart you from the unclean ones: call you them: depart, depart, touch [them] not: for they are on fire, yes, they stagger: say you among the nations, They shall no more sojourn [there].
“Lọ kúrò! Ẹ̀yin di aláìmọ́!” ni àwọn ènìyàn ń kígbe sí wọn. “Ẹ lọ! Ẹ lọ! Ẹ má ṣe fọwọ́ kàn wá!” Àwọn ènìyàn láàrín orílẹ̀-èdè wí pé, “Wọn kì yóò tẹ̀dó síbí mọ́.”
16 AIN. The presence of the Lord [was] their portion; [but] he will not again look upon them: they regarded not the person of the priests, they pitied not the prophets.
Olúwa ti tú wọn ká fúnra rẹ̀; kò sí bojútó wọn mọ́. Kò sí ọ̀wọ̀ fún olórí àlùfáà mọ́, àti àánú fún àwọn àgbàgbà.
17 PHE. While we yet lived our eyes failed, while we looked in vain for our help. TSADE. We looked to a nation that could not save.
Síwájú sí i, ojú wa kùnà fún wíwo ìrànlọ́wọ́ asán; láti orí ìṣọ́ wa ni à ń wò fún orílẹ̀-èdè tí kò le gbà wá là.
18 We have hunted [for] our little ones, that they should not walk in our streets. KOPH. Our time has drawn near, our days are fulfilled, our time is come.
Wọ́n ń ṣọ́ wa kiri, àwa kò sì le rìn ní òpópó wa mọ́. Òpin wa ti súnmọ́, ọjọ́ wa sì níye nítorí òpin wa ti dé.
19 Our pursuers were swifter than the eagles of the sky, they flew on the mountains, in the wilderness they laid wait for us.
Àwọn tí ń lé wa yára ju idì ojú ọ̀run lọ; wọ́n lé wa ní gbogbo orí òkè wọ́n sì gẹ̀gùn dè wá ní aginjù.
20 RECHS. The breath of our nostrils, [our] anointed Lord, was taken in their destructive snares, of whom we said, In his shadow we shall live among the Gentiles.
Ẹni àmì òróró Olúwa, èémí ìyè wa, ni wọ́n fi tàkúté wọn mú. Àwa rò pé lábẹ́ òjìji rẹ̀ ni àwa yóò máa gbé láàrín orílẹ̀-èdè gbogbo.
21 CHSEN. Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Idumea, that dwell in the land: yet the cup of the Lord shall pass through to you: you shall be drunken, and pour forth.
Ẹ yọ̀ kí inú yín sì dùn, ẹ̀yin ọmọbìnrin Edomu, ẹ̀yin tó ń gbé ní ilẹ̀ Usi. Ṣùgbọ́n, a ó gbé ago náà kọjá sọ́dọ̀ rẹ pẹ̀lú; ìwọ yóò yó bí ọ̀mùtí, ìwọ yóò sì rìn ní ìhòhò.
22 THAU. O daughter of Sion, your iniquity has come to an end; he shall no more carry you captive: he has visited your iniquities, O daughter of Edom; he has discovered your sins.
Ìwọ ọmọbìnrin Sioni, ìjìyà rẹ yóò dópin; kò ní mú ìgbèkùn rẹ pẹ́ mọ́. Ṣùgbọ́n, ìwọ ọmọbìnrin Edomu, yóò jẹ ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ rẹ ní yà yóò sì fi àìṣedéédéé rẹ hàn kedere.
