Lamentations 3
1 ALEPH. I am the man that sees poverty, through the rod of his wrath upon me.
Minä olen mies, jonka viheliäisyyttä nähdä täytyy hänen hirmuisuutensa vitsan kautta.
2 He has taken me, and led me away into darkness, and not [into] light.
Hän johdatti minua ja vei pimeyteen ja ei valkeuteen.
3 Nay, against me has he turned his hand all the day.
Hän on kätensä kääntänyt minua vastaan, ja toimittaa toisin aina minun kanssani.
4 He has made old my flesh and my skin; he has broken my bones.
Hän on tehnyt lihani ja nahkani vanhaksi, ja luuni musertanut.
5 BETH. He has built against me, and compassed my head, and brought travail [upon me].
Hän rakensi minua vastaan, ja sapella ja vaivalla hän minua kääri.
6 He has set me in dark places, as them that have long been dead.
Hän on minut pannut pimeyteen, niinkuin aikaa kuolleet.
7 He has builded against me, and I can’t come forth: he has made my brazen [chain] heavy.
Hän on minut muurannut sisälle, etten minä pääse ulos, ja minut kovaan jalkapuuhun pannut.
8 GIMEL. Yes, [though] I cry and shout, he shuts out my prayer.
Ja vaikka minä huudan ja parun, niin hän kuitenkin korvansa tukitsee minun rukouksestani.
9 DALETH. He has built up my ways, he has hedged my paths;
Hän on muurannut tieni kiinni vuojonkivillä, ja polkuni sulkenut.
10 he has troubled me, [as] a she-bear lying in wait: he is to me [as] a lion in secret places.
Hän on väijynyt minua niinkuin karhu, niinkuin jalopeura salaisuudessa.
11 He pursued [me] after I departed, and brought me to a stand: he has utterly ruined me.
Hän on minun antanut tieltä eksyä, ja minut repinyt säpäleiksi, ja minut autioksi tehnyt.
12 HE. He has bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
Hän on joutsensa jännittänyt, ja asettanut minun nuolella tarkoitettavaksi.
13 He has caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
Hän ampui minun munaskuihini viinensä nuolet.
14 I became a laughing stock to all my people; and their song all the day.
Minä olen kaiken minun kansani nauru, ja heidän jokapäiväinen virtensä.
15 VAU. He has filled me with bitterness, he has drenched me with gall.
Hän on haikeudella minut ravinnut, ja koiruoholla juovuttanut.
16 And he has dashed out my teeth with gravel, he has fed me with ashes.
Hän on hampaani somerolla rikki musertanut, hän kieritti minun tuhassa.
17 He has also removed my soul from peace: I forgot prosperity.
Minun sieluni on ajettu pois rauhasta, minun täytyy hyvän unohtaa.
18 Therefore my success has perished, and my hope from the Lord.
Minä sanoin: minun voimani ja minun toivoni Herran päälle on kadonnut.
19 ZAIN. I remembered by reason of my poverty, and because of persecution my bitterness and gall shall be remembered;
Muista siis, kuinka minä niin raadollinen ja hyljätty, koiruoholla ja sapella juotettu olen.
20 and my soul shall meditate with me.
Minun sieluni sen kyllä muistaa, ja sitä itsellensä tutkistelee.
21 This will I lay up in my heart, therefore I will endure.
Minä panen sen sydämeeni; sentähden minä vielä nyt toivon.
22 HETH. [It is] the mercies of the Lord, that he has not failed me, because his compassions are not exhausted. Pity [us], O Lord, early [every] month: for we are not brought to an end, because his compassions are not exhausted.
Herran laupiudesta se on, ettemme ratki hukkuneet; ei hänen laupiutensa vielä loppunut.
23 [They are] new every morning: great is your faithfulness.
Vaan joka huomen se on uusi, ja sinun uskollisuutes on suuri.
24 The Lord is my portion, says my soul; therefore will I wait for him.
Herra on minun osani, sanoo minun sieluni; sentähden tahdon minä häneen toivoa.
25 TETH. The Lord is good to them that wait for him: the soul which shall seek him
Herra on hyvä niille, jotka häneen toivovat, ja niille sieluille, jotka häntä kysyvät.
26 [is] good, and shall wait for, and quietly expect salvation of the Lord.
Hyvä on olla kärsivällisenä ja Herralta apua toivoa.
27 TETH. [It is] good for a man when he bears a yoke in his youth.
Hyvä on ihmiselle ijestä kantaa nuoruudessansa;
28 He will sit alone, and be silent, because he has borne [it] upon him.
Että hän istuu yksinänsä, on vaiti, kuin jotakin hänen päällensä tulee,
Ja panee suunsa tomuun, ja odottaa toivoa,
30 JOD. He will give [his] cheek to him that smites him: he will be filled full with reproaches.
Ja antaa löydä poskillensa, ja paljon pilkkaa kärsii.
31 For the Lord will not reject for ever.
Sillä ei Herra syökse pois ijankaikkisesti.
32 CHAPH. For he that has brought down will pity, and [that] according to the abundance of his mercy.
Vaan hän saattaa murheelliseksi, ja taas armahtaa suuresta laupiudestansa.
33 He has not answered [in anger] from his heart, though he has brought low the children of a man.
Sillä ei hän sydämestänsä ihmisiä kurita eikä murheesen saata,
34 LAMED. To bring down under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
Niinkuin hän tahtois raadolliset maan päällä ratki jalkainsa alla polkea,
35 to turn aside the judgment of a man before the face of the Most High,
Ja antais jonkun miehen oikeuden Ylimmäisen edessä tulla käännetyksi pois,
36 to condemn a man [unjustly] in his judgment, the Lord has not given commandment.
Ja ihmistä väärin tuomita asiassansa, niinkuin ei Herra sitä näkisikään.
37 Who has thus spoken, and it has come to pass? the Lord has not commanded it.
Kuka tohtii siis sanoa: senkaltaiset tapahtuvat ilman Herran käskyä?
38 Out of the mouth of the Most High there shall not come forth evil and good.
Eikö paha ja hyvä tule Korkeimman suusta?
39 MEM. Why should a living man complain, a man concerning his sin?
Miksi siis ihmiset nurisevat eläissänsä? Jokainen nuriskaan syntejänsä vastaan.
40 NUN. Our way has been searched out and examined, and we will turn to the Lord.
Tutkistelkaamme ja etsikäämme meidän menoamme, ja palatkaamme Herran tykö.
41 Let us lift up our hearts with [our] hand to the lofty One in heaven.
Nostakaamme meidän sydämemme ja kätemme taivaasen päin, Jumalan tykö.
42 We have sinned, we have transgressed; and you have not pardoned.
Me, me olemme syntiä tehneet ja kovakorvaiset olleet; (sentähden) et sinä säästänytkään.
43 SAMECH. You has visited [us] in wrath, and driven us away: you has slain, you has not pitied.
Vaan sinä olet vihalla meitä peittänyt ja vainonnut, ja armottomasti surmannut.
44 You have veiled yourself with a cloud because of prayer, that I might be blind,
Sinä verhoitit itses pilvellä, ettei rukous päässyt sen lävitse.
45 and be cast off. AIN. You have set us [alone] in the midst of the nations.
Sinä olet meitä tunkioksi ja saastaisuudeksi kansain seassa tehnyt.
46 All our enemies have opened their mouth against us.
Kaikki meidän vihollisemme ovat suutansa ammottaneet meitä vastaan.
47 Fear and wrath are come upon us, suspense and destruction.
Me painetaan alas ja rangaistaan pelvolla ja ahdistuksella.
48 Mine eye shall pour down torrents of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Minun silmäni vuotavat vesi-ojia minun kansani tyttären surkeuden tähden.
49 PHE. Mine eye is drowned [with tears], and I will not be silent, so that there shall be no rest,
Minun silmäni vuotavat ja ei taida lakata; ei he asetu,
50 until the Lord look down, and behold from heaven.
Siihenasti että Herra katsoo taivaasta alas ja näkee.
51 Mine eye shall prey upon my soul, because of all the daughters of the city.
Minun silmäni kuluttaa minulta elämäni kaikkein minun kaupunkini tytärten tähden.
52 TSADE. The fowlers chased me as a sparrow, all mine enemies destroyed my life in a pit without cause,
Minun viholliseni ovat minua kovin ajaneet takaa, niinkuin lintua ilman syytä.
53 and laid a stone upon me.
He ovat minun elämäni kuoppaan salvanneet, ja heittäneet kiven minun päälleni.
54 Water flowed over my head: I said, I am cut off.
Ovat myös vedet minun pääni ylitse käyneet; niin minä sanoin: nyt minä ratki hukassa olen.
55 KOPH. I called upon your name, O Lord, out of the lowest dungeon.
Minä huusin avukseni sinun nimeäs, Herra, alhaalta kuopasta;
56 You heard my voice: close not your ears to my supplication.
Ja sinä kuulit minun ääneni, älä korvias kätke minun huokauksestani ja huudostani.
57 You drew near to my help: in the day wherein I called upon you you said to me, Fear not.
Sinä lähenet kuin minä sinua huudan, ja sanot: älä pelkää.
58 RECHS. O Lord, you has pleaded the causes of my soul; you has redeemed my life.
Sinä, Herra, ratkaiset minun sieluni asian, ja lunastat minun henkeni.
59 You have seen, O Lord, my troubles: you have judged my cause.
Herra katso, kuinka minulle niin vääryyttä tehdään, ja tuomitse minun oikeuteni.
60 You have seen all their vengeance, [you have looked] on all their devices against me.
Sinä näet kaikki heidän kostonsa ja kaikki heidän ajatuksensa minusta.
61 CHSEN. You have heard their reproach [and] all their devices against me;
Herra, sinä kuulet heidän pilkkansa ja kaikki heidän ajatuksensa minua vastaan,
62 the lips of them that rose up against me, and their plots against me all the day;
Minun vainollisteni huulet ja heidän neuvonsa minua vastaan yli päivää.
63 their sitting down and their rising up: look you upon their eyes.
Katso, kuin he istuvat eli nousevat, niin he minusta virsiä laulavat.
64 You will render them a recompense, O Lord, according to the works of their hands.
Kosta heille, Herra, niinkuin he ansainneet ovat, heidän kättensä töiden jälkeen.
65 THAU. You will give them [as] a covering, the grief of my heart.
Anna heidän sydämensä vavista ja sinun kiroustas tuta.
66 You will persecute them in anger, and will consume them from under the heaven, O Lord.
Vainoo heitä hirmuisuudella, ja hukuta heitä Herran taivaan alta.
