< Joshua 4 >
1 And when the people had completely passed over Jordan, the Lord spoke to Joshua, saying,
Ɛberɛ a ɔman no nyinaa twaa Yordan wieeɛ no, Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Yosua sɛ,
2 Take men from the people, one of each tribe,
“Yiyi mmarima dumienu firi ɔmanfoɔ no mu a ɔbaako biara firi abusuakuo no bi mu
3 and charge them; and you shall take out of the midst of Jordan twelve fit stones, and having carried them across together with yourselves, place them in your camp, where you shall encamp for the night.
na ka kyerɛ wɔn sɛ, wɔmfa aboɔ dumienu mfiri Yordan mfimfini nifa so wɔ baabi a na asɔfoɔ no gyina hɔ, na wɔnsoa mfa ntwa mmra mmɛgu baabi a mobɛtena anadwo yi.”
4 And Joshua having called twelve men of distinction among the children of Israel, one of each tribe,
Ɛnna Yosua frɛɛ mmarima dumienu a ɔyii wɔn firii Israelfoɔ no mu no a ɔbaako biara firi abusuakuo bi mu no,
5 said to them, Advance before me in the presence of the Lord into the midst of Jordan, and each having taken up a stone from thence, let him carry it on his shoulders, according to the number of the twelve tribes of Israel:
na ɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Monkɔdi Awurade, mo Onyankopɔn, adaka no anim mfa nkɔ Yordan mfimfini. Ɔbaako biara mfa ɛboɔ nto ne batiri so sɛdeɛ Israelfoɔ mmusuakuo no dodoɔ te,
6 that these may be to you continually for an appointed sign, that when your son asks you in future, saying, What are these stones to us?
na ɛnyɛ nsɛnkyerɛnneɛ wɔ mo mu. Sɛ daakye bi, mo mma bisa mo sɛ, ‘Saa aboɔ yi ase kyerɛ sɛn’ a,
7 then you may explain to your son, saying, The river Jordan was dried up from before the ark of the covenant of the Lord of the whole earth, when it passed it: and these stones shall be for a memorial for you for the children of Israel for ever.
monka nkyerɛ wɔn sɛ, Yordan asutene no twaeɛ wɔ Awurade apam adaka no anim. Ɛberɛ a Awurade apam adaka no twaa Yordan asutene no, asuo no weeɛ. Saa aboɔ yi bɛyɛ nkaedeɛ ama Israelfoɔ daa nyinaa.”
8 And the children of Israel did so, as the Lord commanded Joshua; and they took up twelve stones out of the midst of Jordan, (as the Lord commanded Joshua, when the children of Israel had completely passed over, ) and carried these stones with them into the camp, and laid them down there.
Enti, mmarima no yɛɛ sɛdeɛ Yosua kyerɛɛ wɔn no. Wɔfaa aboɔ dumienu firii Asubɔnten Yordan mfimfini a ɛboɔ baako biara gyina hɔ ma abusuakuo baako, sɛdeɛ Awurade hyɛɛ Yosua no. Wɔsoa de kɔɔ baabi a wɔtenaa hɔ anadwo no na wɔsii nkaeɛdum wɔ hɔ.
9 And Joshua set also other twelve stones in Jordan itself, in the place that was under the feet of the priests that bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord; and there they are to this day.
Yosua nso de aboɔ dumienu sii nkaeɛdum wɔ Yordan mfimfini wɔ baabi a na asɔfoɔ a wɔso apam Adaka no gyina hɔ. Ɛwɔ hɔ bɛsi ɛnnɛ.
10 And the priests that bore the ark of the covenant stood in Jordan, until Joshua [had] finished all that the Lord commanded him to report to the people; and the people hasted and passed over.
Asɔfoɔ a na wɔso adaka no gyinaa asuo no mfimfini hɔ ara kɔsii sɛ Awurade ahyɛdeɛ a ɔnam Mose so de maa Yosua no, wɔyɛɛ ne nyinaa. Saa ɛberɛ no, nnipa no yɛɛ ntɛm twaa asuo no kɔsii ne konkɔn so.
11 And it came to pass when all the people had passed over, that the ark of the covenant of the Lord passed over, and the stones before them.
Na ɛberɛ a obiara duruu asuo no fa hɔ no, asɔfoɔ no nso de Awurade adaka no tware kɔɔ ɛfa hɔ bi.
12 And the sons of Ruben, and the sons of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasse passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses commanded them.
Na akofoɔ a wɔahyɛ wɔn akodeɛ a wɔfiri Ruben abusuakuo mu, Gad abusuakuo mu ne Manase abusuakuo fa mu akofoɔ no dii Israelfoɔ no anim twaa Yordan sɛdeɛ Mose kyerɛɛ wɔn no pɛpɛɛpɛ.
13 Forty thousand armed for battle went over before the Lord to war, to the city of Jericho.
Saa akofoɔ yi, na wɔn dodoɔ bɛyɛ mpem aduanan a wɔasiesie wɔn ho ama ɔko. Wɔtwa kɔɔ Yeriko asase so wɔ Awurade anim.
14 In that day the Lord magnified Joshua before all the people of Israel; and they feared him, as [they did] Moses, as long as he lived.
15 And the Lord spoke to Joshua, saying,
Na Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Yosua sɛ,
16 Charge the priests that bear the ark of the covenant of the testimony of the Lord, to go up out of Jordan.
“Hyɛ asɔfoɔ a Awurade apam adaka no so wɔn no sɛ, wɔmfiri subɔnhwa no mu hɔ mmra.”
17 And Joshua charged the priests, saying, Go up out of Jordan.
Enti, Yosua hyɛɛ wɔn.
18 And it came to pass when the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord were gone up out of Jordan, and set their feet upon the land, [that] the water of Jordan returned impetuously to its place, and went as before over all its banks.
Na ɛberɛ a asɔfoɔ a wɔso Awurade apam adaka no firii subɔnhwa no mu ara pɛ na Asubɔnten Yordan sane ka sram so tɛntɛntɛn te sɛ kane no.
19 And the people went up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month; and the children of Israel encamped in Galgala in the region eastward from Jericho.
Bosome a ɛdi ɛkan no ɛda ɛtɔ so edu no nnipa no foro firii Yordan kɔbɔɔ atenaeɛ wɔ Gilgal, Yeriko apueeɛ.
20 And Joshua set these twelve stones which he took out of Jordan, in Galgala,
Gilgal hɔ na Yosua boaa aboɔ dumienu a wɔde firi Asubɔnten Yordan mu baeɛ no ano.
21 saying, When your sons ask you, saying, What are these stones?
Afei, Yosua ka kyerɛɛ Israelfoɔ no sɛ, “Daakye bi mo mma bɛbisa sɛ, ‘Saa aboɔ yi kyerɛ sɛn?’
22 Tell your sons, that Israel went over this Jordan on dry land,
Na mo nso moaka akyerɛ wɔn sɛ, ‘Ɛha ne beaeɛ a Israelfoɔ twaa Yordan wɔ asase wesee so no.’
23 when the Lord our God had dried up the water of Jordan from before them, until they had passed over; as the Lord our God did to the Red Sea, which the Lord our God dried up from before us, until we passed over.
Awurade, mo Onyankopɔn, maa nsuo no wee wɔ mo anim na ɔkɔɔ so ma ɛweeɛ ara kɔsii sɛ mo nyinaa twareeɛ, sɛdeɛ ɔyɛeɛ wɔ Ɛpo Kɔkɔɔ no. Ɔmaa no weeɛ ara kɔsii sɛ yɛn nyinaa twareeɛ.
24 That all the nations of the earth might know, that the power of the Lord is mighty, and that you might worship the Lord our God in every work.
Ɔyɛɛ yei sɛdeɛ aman a wɔwɔ ewiase nyinaa bɛhunu Awurade tumi na mo nso moasuro Awurade, mo Onyankopɔn, daa nyinaa.”
