< Joshua 23 >
1 And it came to pass after many days after the Lord had given Israel rest from all his enemies round about, that Joshua was old and advanced in years.
Pea kuo fuoloange mo e tuku ʻe Sihova ʻae fiemālie ki ʻIsileli mei honau ngaahi fili naʻe tuʻu takatakai, mo ʻene fakaʻaʻau ʻo motuʻa ʻa Siosiua, pea lahi hono taʻu.
2 And Joshua called together all the children of Israel, and their elders, and their chiefs, and their judges, and their officers; and said to them, I am old and advanced in years.
Pea naʻe fekau ʻe Siosiua ke haʻu ʻa ʻIsileli kotoa pē, ʻa ʻenau kau mātuʻa, mo honau ngaahi ʻeiki, mo honau kau fakamaau, pea mo honau kau matāpule, ʻo ne pehē kiate kinautolu, “Kuo u motuʻa pea lahi hoku taʻu:
3 And you have seen all that the Lord our God has done to all these nations before us; [for it] is the Lord your God who has fought for you.
Pea kuo mou mamata ki he ngaahi meʻa kotoa pē kuo fai ʻe Sihova ko homou ʻOtua ki he ngaahi puleʻanga ni koeʻuhi ko kimoutolu; he ko Sihova ko homou ʻOtua, ko ia ia kuo ne tau koeʻuhi ko kimoutolu.
4 See, that I have given to you these nations that are left to you by lots to your tribes, all the nations beginning at Jordan; and [some] I have destroyed; and the boundaries shall be at the great sea westward.
Vakai, kuo u vahevahe kiate kimoutolu ʻi he talotalo ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga ni ʻoku toe, ko e tofiʻa ki homou ngaahi faʻahinga, mei Sioatani, mo e ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē ʻaia kuo u fakaʻauha, ʻio, ʻo aʻu atu ki ke Tahi Lahi ʻi lulunga.
5 And the Lord our God, he shall destroy them before us, until they utterly perish; and he shall send against them the wild beasts, until he shall have utterly destroyed them and their kings from before you; and you shall inherit their land, as the Lord our God said to you.
Pea ko Sihova ko homou ʻOtua, ʻe kapusi ʻe ia ʻakinautolu mei homou ʻao, ʻo fakahēʻi ʻakinautolu mei homou mata; pea te mou maʻu honau fonua, ʻo hangē ko e talaʻofa kiate kimoutolu ʻe Sihova ko homou ʻOtua.
6 Do you therefore strive diligently to observe and do all things written in the book of the law of Moses, that you turn not to the right hand or to the left;
Ko ia mou loto mālohi ʻaupito ke tauhi, pea ke fai ʻaia kotoa pē kuo tohi ʻi he tohi ʻoe fono ʻa Mōsese, ke ʻoua naʻa mou tafoki mei ai ki he nima toʻomataʻu pe ki he toʻohema;
7 that you go not in among these nations that are left; and the names of their gods shall not be named among you, neither shall you serve them, neither shall you bow down to them.
Koeʻuhi ke ʻoua naʻa mou kaumeʻa mo e ngaahi puleʻanga ni, ʻaia ʻoku toe ʻiate kimoutolu; pea ʻoua naʻa lea ki he hingoa ʻo honau ngaahi ʻotua, pe fekau ke fuakava ki ai, pe ke tauhi ʻakinautolu, pe punou hifo ʻakimoutolu kiate kinautolu:
8 But you shall cleave to the Lord our God, as you have done until this day.
Ka mou pikitai kia Sihova ko homou ʻOtua, hangē ko ia kuo mou fai ʻo aʻu ki he ʻaho ni.
9 And the Lord shall destroy them before you, [even] great and strong nations; and no one has stood before us until this day.
He kuo kapusi atu ʻe Sihova mei homou ʻao ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga lahi mo mālohi: ka ko kimoutolu, naʻe ʻikai mafai ʻe ha tangata ke tuʻu ʻi homou ʻao ʻo aʻu ki he ʻaho ni.
10 One of you has chased a thousand, for the Lord our God, he fought for you, as he said to us.
ʻE tuli ʻe homou tokotaha ʻae toko afe: he ko Sihova ko homou ʻOtua, ko ia ia ʻoku tau maʻamoutolu ʻo hangē ko ʻene fakahā kiate kimoutolu.
11 And take you great heed to love the Lord our God.
Ko ia mou vakai lahi kiate kimoutolu ke mou ʻofa kia Sihova ko homou ʻOtua.
12 For if you shall turn aside and attach yourselves to these nations that are left with you, and make marriages with them, and become mingled with them and they with you,
Telia ʻi hoʻomou tafoki ki mui ʻi ha meʻa ʻe taha, ʻo pikitai ki hono toe ʻoe ngaahi puleʻanga ni ʻakinautolu ʻoku toe ʻo nofo kiate kimoutolu, pea mali mo kinautolu, ʻo feʻaluʻaki fakafelātani mo kinautolu:
13 know that the Lord will no more destroy these nations from before you; and they will be to you snares and stumbling blocks, and nails in your heels, and darts in your eyes, until you be destroyed from off this good land, which the Lord your God has given you.
Pea ke ʻilo pau ʻekimoutolu, ʻe ʻikai toe kapusi ʻe Sihova ko homou ʻOtua ha puleʻanga ʻe taha mei homou ʻao: ka tenau hoko ko e ngaahi hele, mo e ngaahi luo kiate kimoutolu, mo e ngaahi meʻa tā ki homou vakavaka, mo e ngaahi talaʻi ʻakau ʻi homou mata, ke mou ʻauha ai mei he fonua lelei ni ʻaia kuo foaki ʻe Sihova ko homou ʻOtua kiate kimoutolu.
14 But I hasten to go the way [of death], as all that are upon the earth also [do]: and you know in your heart and in your soul, that not one word has fallen [to the ground] of all the words which the Lord our God has spoken respecting all that concerns us; there has not one of them failed.
“Pea vakai, ko e ʻaho ni ʻoku ou ʻalu ʻi he hala ʻo māmani kotoa pē: pea ʻoku mou ʻilo ʻi homou loto kotoa pē, pea ʻi homou laumālie kotoa pē, ʻi he ngaahi meʻa lelei kotoa pē ʻaia naʻe folofola ai ʻa Sihova ko homou ʻOtua kiate kimoutolu ʻeku ʻikai liʻaki ha meʻa ʻe taha; kuo fakahoko kotoa pē kiate kimoutolu, pea ʻoku ʻikai liʻaki hano meʻa ʻe taha.
15 And it shall come to pass, that as all the good things are come upon us which the Lord God will bring upon you all the evil things, until he shall have destroyed you from off this good land, which the Lord has given you,
Ko ia ʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ʻo hangē kuo hoko kiate kimoutolu ʻae ngaahi meʻa lelei ʻaia naʻe talaʻofa ʻe Sihova ko homou ʻOtua kiate kimoutolu; ʻe pehē ʻae ʻomi kiate kimoutolu ʻe Sihova ʻae ngaahi meʻa kovi, kaeʻoua ke ʻosi ʻene fakaʻauha ʻakimoutolu mei he fonua lelei ni ʻaia kuo foaki ʻe Sihova ko homou ʻOtua kiate kimoutolu.
16 when you transgress the covenant of the Lord our God, which he has charged us, and go and serve other gods, and bow down to them.
ʻI hoʻomou fai talangataʻa ki he fuakava ʻa Sihova ko homou ʻOtua, ʻaia kuo ne fekau kiate kimoutolu, pea kuo mou ʻalu ʻo tauhi ʻae ngaahi ʻotua kehe, ʻo fakapunou hifo ʻakimoutolu ki ai: ʻe tupu ai ʻae houhau ʻa Sihova kiate kimoutolu, pea te mou ʻauha vave mei he fonua lelei ʻaia kuo ne foaki kiate kimoutolu.”
