< Job 41 >

1 But will you catch the serpent with a hook, and put a halter about his nose?
Leviathan to cakoih hoi na tathok thai tih maw? To tih ai boeh loe anih ih palai to qui hoiah na pathlet pae thai tih maw?
2 Or will you fasten a ring in his nostril, and bore his lip with a clasp?
A hnah to na daw pae moe, anih ih akam huh to cakoih hoiah na taqawt pae thai tih maw?
3 Will he address you with a petition? softly, with the voice of a suppliant?
Anih mah tahmenhaih na hni ueloe, nang khaeah lok kanaem to thui tih maw?
4 And will he make a covenant with you? and will you take him for a perpetual servant?
Anih loe hing thung na tamna ah oh hanah, nang khaeah lokmaihaih sah tih maw?
5 And will you play with him as with a bird? or bind him as a sparrow for a child?
Anih to tavaa hoi amhai baktiah nam hai haih han maw? To tih ai boeh loe nangmah ih nongpatanawk hanah anih to qui hoiah na pathlet pae han maw?
6 And do the nations feed upon him, and the nations of the Phoenicians share him?
Nam puinawk mah anih han buhraenghaih sah pae tih maw? Anih to hmuen zaw kaminawk khaeah athum o sak tih maw?
7 And all the ships come together would not be able to bear the mere skin of his tail; neither [shall they carry] his head in fishing vessels.
Sum kamsum hoiah anih ih ahin to na thunh thai tih maw? To tih ai boeh loe a lu to tanga thunhaih tayae hoiah na thunh thai tih maw?
8 But you shall lay your hand upon him [once], remembering the war that is waged by his mouth; and let it not be done any more.
Anih nuiah ban to mah koeng ah, anih tuk hanah poek hmah.
9 Hast you not seen him? and have you not wondered at the things said [of him]?
Khenah, anih pazawk han poekhaih loe azom pui ni; anih hnu kami loe amthaek bup mak ai maw?
10 Do you not fear because preparation has been made by me? for who is there that resists me?
Anih to mi mah doeh pahrue thai mak ai; to tiah om nahaeloe mi maw ka hmaa ah angdoe thai tih?
11 Or who will resist me, and abide, since the whole [world] under heaven is mine?
Ka sak pathok let hanah mi mah maw na pakaa thai tih? Van tlim ih hmuennawk boih loe kai ih ni.
12 I will not be silent because of him: though because of his power [one] shall pity his antagonist.
Leviathan ih khokbannawk, a thacakhaih hoi kahoih takpumnawk thui ai ah ka om thai mak ai.
13 Who will open the face of his garment? and who can enter within the fold of his breastplate?
Mi mah maw anih ih ahin to khok pae thai tih? Mi mah maw anih ih akam huh to cakoih hoi tathok hanah a taengah caeh thai tih?
14 Who will open the doors of his face? terror is round about his teeth.
Mi mah maw anih ih mikhmai thok to paong pae thai tih? Anih ih haanawk loe zit thoh.
15 His inwards are as brazen plates, and the texture of his [skin] as a smyrite stone.
Kacak ah catui daeng baktih toengah, kangbok a nui ih ahin loe anih amoekhaih ah oh.
16 One [part] cleaves fast to another, and the air can’t come between them.
Takhi akun thaih han ai ah, ahin maeto hoi maeto angbet.
17 They will remain united each to the other: they are closely joined, and can’t be separated.
Ahin maeto hoi maeto angbet moe, kacakah angbet caeng pongah khram thai ai.
18 At his sneezing a light shines, and his eyes are [as] the appearance of the morning star.
Anih pasih naah hmai ampha, a mik loe akhawn bangah pakhrip ih mik baktiah oh.
19 Out of his mouth proceed as it were burning lamps, and as it were hearths of fire are cast abroad.
Anih ih pakha thung hoiah hmai aengh hoi hmai kangqong to tacawt.
20 Out of his nostrils proceeds smoke of a furnace burning with fire of coals.
Tui tangdawh thlukbuk laom thung hoi tacawt hmaikhue baktih toengah, a hnakhaw thung hoiah hmaikhue to tacawt.
21 His breath is [as] live coals, and a flame goes out of his mouth.
Anih anghahhaih takhi mah hmaisaae to amngaehsak moe, anih ih pakha thung hoiah kangqong hmai to tacawt.
22 And power is lodged in his neck, before him destruction runs.
Anih ih tahnong ah thacakhaih to oh, anih hmaa ah loe palungsethaih to anghoehaih ah oh.
23 The flesh also of his body is joined together: [if one] pours [violence] upon him, he shall not be moved.
Anih ih ngan thaquinawk loe nawnto amraep o, angthui thai ai, cakrap.
24 His heart is firm as a stone, and it stands like an unyielding anvil.
Anih ih palung loe thlung baktiah amtak; ue, cang kaehhaih thlung baktiah amtak.
25 And when he turns, [he is] a terror to the four-footed wild beasts which leap upon the earth.
Anih angthawk tahang naah, thacak kaminawk loe zithaih hoiah oh o; anih tamai boh naah om o thai ai.
26 If spears should come against him, [men] will effect nothing, [either with] the spear or the breast-plate.
Anih loe sumsen mah caa ai; tayae, palaa hoi ahnuk ahma kamsum tayae mah doeh caa ai.
27 For he considers iron as chaff, and brass as rotten wood.
Anih loe sum to caphaeh baktiah poek moe, sumkamling doeh kahmawn thing baktiah a poek.
28 The bow of brass shall not would him, he deems a slinger as grass.
Palaa mah anih to cawnsak thai mak ai; lawkthluem doeh tavai baktiah ni a poek.
29 Mauls are counted as stubble; and he laughs to scorn the waving of the firebrand.
Anih han loe thingboeng doeh cangkung baktiah ni oh; tayae hoi takhawh han pahuem naah anih mah pahnuithuih.
30 His lair is [formed of] sharp points; and all the gold of the sea under him is an immense [quantity of] clay.
Anih ih zok loe kanoe laom koi baktiah oh; tangnong nui ih sum kanoe haa caehhaih ahmuen baktiah oh.
31 He makes the deep boil like a brazen caldron; and he regards the sea as a pot of ointment,
Anih mah kathuk tuipui to laom thung ih tangdawh tui baktiah haeh moe, tuipui to laom nokhaih moithawk baktiah a sak.
32 and the lowest part of the deep as a captive: he reckons the deep as [his] range.
A caeh taak ih loklam loe ampha pongah, tuipui loe sam kanglung baktiah oh.
33 There is nothing upon the earth like to him, formed to be sported with by my angels.
Anih baktiah zithaih tawn ai ah sak ih hmuen maeto doeh long nuiah om ai.
34 He beholds every high thing: and he is king of all that are in the waters.
Anih loe kasang hmuennawk to khet; anih loe amoekhaih hmuennawk boih ih siangpahrang ah oh, tiah a naa.
