Job 25

1 Then Baldad the Sauchite answered and said,

Alors Bildad Suhite prit la parole, et dit:

2 What beginning or fear is his—even he that makes all things in the highest?

Le règne et la terreur sont par-devers Dieu; il maintient la paix dans ses hauts lieux.

3 For let none think that there is a respite for robbers: and upon whom will there not come a snare from him?

Ses armées se peuvent-elles compter? et sur qui sa lumière ne se lève-t-elle point?

4 For how shall a mortal be just before the Lord? or who that is born of a woman shall purify himself?

Et comment l'homme [mortel] se justifierait-il devant le [Dieu] Fort? Et comment celui qui est né de femme serait-il pur?

5 If he gives an order to the moon, then it shines not; and the stars are not pure before him.

Voilà, [qu'on aille] jusqu'à la lune, et elle ne luira point; les étoiles ne seront point pures devant ses yeux.

6 But alas! man is corruption, and the son of man a worm.

Combien moins l'homme qui n'est qu'un ver; et le fils d'un homme, qui n'est qu'un vermisseau!
