Job 23
1 Then Job answered and said,
Então Job respondeu,
2 Yes, I know that pleading is out of my reach; and his hand has been made heavy upon my groaning.
“Ainda hoje minha queixa é rebelde. Sua mão é pesada apesar do meu gemido.
3 Who would then know that I might find him, and come to an end [of the matter]?
Oh, que eu soubesse onde poderia encontrá-lo! Que eu possa chegar até mesmo ao seu lugar!
4 And I would plead my own cause, and he would fill my mouth with arguments.
I colocaria minha causa em ordem diante dele, e encher minha boca de argumentos.
5 And I would know the remedies which he would speak to me, and I would perceive what he would tell me.
Eu saberia as palavras que ele me responderia, e entender o que ele me diria.
6 Though he should come on me in [his] great strength, then he would not threaten me;
Será que ele lutaria comigo na grandeza de seu poder? Não, mas ele me ouviria.
7 for truth and reproof are from him; and he would bring forth my judgment to an end.
Aí, os justos podem raciocinar com ele, portanto, eu deveria ser entregue para sempre pelo meu juiz.
8 For if I shall go first, and exist no longer, still what do I know [concerning] the latter end?
“Se eu for para o leste, ele não está lá. Se eu for para o oeste, não consigo encontrá-lo.
9 When he wrought on the left hand, then I observed [it] not: his right hand shall encompass me but I shall not see [it].
Ele trabalha para o norte, mas não consigo vê-lo. Ele se vira para o sul, mas não consigo vê-lo de relance.
10 For he knows already my way; and he has tried me as gold.
Mas ele sabe o caminho que eu tomo. Quando ele tiver me julgado, eu sairei como ouro.
11 And I will go forth according to his commandments, for I have kept his ways; and I shall not turn aside from his commandments,
Meu pé se agarrou aos seus passos. Eu mantive seu caminho, e não me afastei.
12 neither shall I transgress; but I have hid his words in my bosom.
Eu não voltei do mandamento de seus lábios. Eu valorizei mais as palavras de sua boca do que a minha comida necessária.
13 And if too he has thus judged, who is he that has contradicted, for he has both willed [a thing] and done it.
Mas ele está sozinho, e quem pode se opor a ele? O que sua alma deseja, mesmo que ele faça.
Pois ele realiza o que é designado para mim. Muitas dessas coisas estão com ele.
15 Therefore am I troubled at him; and when I was reproved, I thought of him. Therefore let me take good heed before him: I will consider, and be afraid of him.
Portanto, estou aterrorizado com sua presença. Quando considero, tenho medo dele.
16 But the Lord has softened my heart, and the Almighty has troubled me.
Pois Deus fez meu coração desmaiar. O Todo-Poderoso me aterrorizou.
17 For I knew not that darkness would come upon me, and thick darkness has covered [me] before my face.
Porque eu não fui cortado antes da escuridão, nem ele cobriu a escuridão espessa do meu rosto.
