< Job 22 >

1 Then Eliphaz the Thaemanite answered and said,
To naah Teman acaeng Eliphaz mah,
2 Is it not the Lord that teaches understanding and knowledge?
palungha kami loe angmah han ih ni atho oh, kami loe Sithaw han amekhaih oh maw?
3 For what matters it to the Lord, if you were blameless in [your] works? or is it profitable that you should perfect your way?
Na toenghaih mah Thacak Sithaw anghoesak tih maw? Coek koi om ai tuinuen hoihaih rang hoiah anih han tih amekhaih maw oh?
4 Will you maintain and plead your own cause? and will he enter into judgment with you?
Sithaw ka zit pongah anih mah ang thuitaek, tiah na poek maw? Anih loe lokcaekhaih ahmuen ah nang hoi nawnto caeh tih maw?
5 Is not your wickedness abundant, and your sins innumerable?
Na zaehaih loe paroeai len, na zaehaih loe kroek laek ai pop pongah na ai maw hae tiah na oh?
6 And you have taken security of your brethren for nothing, and have taken away the clothing of the naked.
Nang loe nam nawkamyanawk ih hmuenmae to na lak pae, nihcae ih khukbuen to na khringh pae moe, bangkrai ah na suek.
7 Neither have you given water to the thirsty to drink, but have taken away the morsel of the hungry.
Angpho kami tuinaek hanah na paek ai, zok amthlam kami doeh buh na pacah ai.
8 And you have accepted the persons of some; and you have established those [that were already settled] on the earth.
Thacak kami loe long to a tawnh; khingya koi kaom kami loe to ah khosak.
9 But you have sent widows away empty, and has afflicted orphans.
Toe lamhmainawk to bangkrai ah na patoeh ving moe, ampa tawn ai kaminawk ih ban to nang khaehsak.
10 Therefore snares have compassed you, and disastrous war has troubled you.
To pongah ni nang loe thaangnawk mah ang takui o khoep moe, zithaih mah raihaih ang paek;
11 The light has proved darkness to you, and water has covered you on your lying down.
to tih ai boeh loe na hnu thai ai ih, vinghaih mah raihaih ang paek moe, paroeai pop tuinawk mah ang uem.
12 Does not he that dwells in the high places observe? and has he not brought down the proud?
Sithaw loe kasang van ah na ai maw oh? Van ih cakaehnawk loe nasetto maw sang o, tiah khen ah!
13 And you has said, What does the Mighty One know? does he judge in the dark?
Toe nang mah loe, Sithaw mah kawbangmaw panoek tih? Anih loe kathah tamai kamnum thung hoiah lokcaek thai tih maw?
14 A cloud is his hiding-place, and he shall not be seen; and he passes through the circle of heaven.
Kathah parai tamai mah anih to khuk khoep pongah, anih mah hnu mak ai; anih loe van amhaehaih loklam ranui ah ni amkaeh, tiah na thuih.
15 Will you [not] mark the old way, which righteous men have trodden?
Kasae kaminawk caehhaih loklam kangquem to na pazui han maw?
16 who were seized before their time: their foundations [are as] an overflowing stream.
Nihcae loe atue akoep ai naah amro o moe, nihcae angdoethaih ahmuen doeh tui mah lak pae king.
17 Who say, What will the Lord do to us? or what will the Almighty bring upon us?
Nihcae mah Sithaw khaeah, Kaicae hae na caeh taak ah; Thacak Sithaw mah kaicae han timaw sah thai tang tih, tiah thuih o.
18 Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel for the wicked is far from him.
Sithaw mah kahoih hmuen hoiah nihcae ih im to koisak; toe kai loe kasae kaminawk ih poekhaih to kang qoi taak.
19 The righteous have seen [it], and laughed, and the blameless one has derided [them].
Nihcae amrohaih to katoeng kaminawk mah hnuk o naah, anghoe o; zaehaih tawn ai kaminawk mah nihcae to pahnui o thuih.
20 Verily their substance has been utterly destroyed, and the fire shall devour what is left of their [property].
Kaicae ih misanawk loe amro o tangtang boeh, kanghmat nihcae ih hmuennawk doeh hmai mah kangh boih boeh.
21 Be firm, I pray you, if you can endure; then your fruit shall prosper.
Sithaw khae ang paek o ah loe, anih hoi angdaeh oh; to tiah na sak o nahaeloe nang khaeah khosak hoihaih angzo tih.
22 And receive a declaration from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart.
Anih pakha thung hoi tacawt daan to talawk ah loe, anih ih lok to na palung thungah khrum ah.
23 And if you shall turn and humble yourself before the Lord, you have [thus] removed unrighteousness far from your habitation.
Thacak Sithaw khaeah nam laem o nahaeloe, anih mah na raemh let tih; na ohhaih kahni imthung hoiah na sakpazaehaih to takhoe ving nahaeloe,
24 You shall lay up for yourself [treasure] in a heap on the rock; and Sophir [shall be] as the rock of the torrent.
sui to maiphu baktih, Ophir ih sui to tuipui ih thlung baktiah na patung tih.
25 So the Almighty shall be your helper from enemies, and he shall bring you forth pure as silver that has been tried by fire.
Ue, Thacak Sithaw loe nang ih sui ah om ueloe, atho kana sumkanglung paroeai na tawn tih.
26 Then shall you have boldness before the Lord, looking up cheerfully to heaven.
To tiah nahaeloe Thacak Sithaw pongah anghoehaih na tawn ueloe, Sithaw to na doeng tahang tih.
27 And he shall hear you when you pray to him, and he shall grant you [power] to pay your vows.
Anih khaeah lawk na thuih naah, anih mah na tahngai pae tih; to tiah lokkamhaih to na koepsak tih.
28 And he shall establish to you again a habitation of righteousness and there shall be light upon your paths.
Na patoep ih hmuen to angcoeng ueloe, na caehhaih loklam to aang tih.
29 Because you have humbled yourself; and you shall say, [Man] has behaved proudly, but he shall save him that is of lowly eyes.
Kaminawk pakhrak tathuk naah, nang loe pakoehhaih ah ka oh, tiah na thui tih; mi tlim ah khosah kami loe Sithaw mah pahlong tih.
30 He shall deliver the innocent, and do you save yourself by your pure hands.
Anih mah zaehaih tawn kami to pahlong tih; kaciim na ban hoiah anih to pahlong tih, tiah a naa.
