Job 21
1 But Job answered and said,
Entonces Job respondió:
2 Hear you, hear you my words, that I may not have this consolation from you.
Escuchen con atención mis palabras, y que sea esto el consuelo que me den.
3 Raise me, and I will speak; then you shall not laugh me to scorn.
Tolérenme mientras hablo, y después que hable, búrlense.
4 What! is my reproof of man? and why should I not be angry?
¿Me quejo ante un hombre? ¿Por qué no se debe impacientar mi espíritu?
5 Look upon me, and wonder, laying your hand upon your cheek.
Mírenme, asómbrense y coloquen la mano sobre su boca.
6 For even when I remember, I am alarmed, and pains seize my flesh.
Cuando lo recuerdo me asombro, y el horror estremece mi carne.
7 Therefore do the ungodly live, and grow old even in wealth?
¿Por qué viven los perversos, envejecen y son poderosos?
8 Their seed is according to [their] desire, and their children are in [their] sight.
Sus descendientes se establecen con ellos y ante ellos. Sus hijos están ante ellos.
9 Their houses are prosperous, neither [have they] any where [cause for] fear, neither is there a scourge from the Lord upon them.
Sus casas están libres de temor. No tienen azote de ʼElohim sobre ellos.
10 Their cow does not cast her calf, and their [beast] with young is safe, and does not miscarry.
Su toro fecunda sin fallar, sus vacas paren y no pierden crías.
11 And they remain as an unfailing flock, and their children play before [them], taking up the lute and harp;
Sueltan a sus pequeños como manada y sus hijos andan saltando.
12 and they rejoice at the voice of a song.
Cantan al son del tamboril y el arpa. Se regocijan con el sonido de la flauta.
Sus días transcurren en prosperidad. Con tranquilidad bajan al Seol. (Sheol h7585)
14 Yet [such a man] says to the Lord, Depart from me; I desire not to know your ways.
Ellos dicen a ʼElohim: Apártate de nosotros. Ni siquiera deseamos el conocimiento de tus caminos.
15 What is the Mighty One, that we should serve him? and what profit is there that we should approach him?
¿Quién es ʼEL-Shadday para que le sirvamos, y de qué nos aprovecha que le supliquemos?
16 For their good things were in [their] hands, but he regards not the works of the ungodly.
Ciertamente, la prosperidad de ellos no está en sus propias manos. El consejo de los perversos esté lejos de mí.
17 Nevertheless, the lamp of the ungodly also shall be put out, and destruction shall come upon them, and pangs of vengeance shall seize them.
¿Cuántas veces es apagada la lámpara de los perversos, o su calamidad cae sobre ellos, o ʼElohim les reparte destrucción en su ira?
18 And they shall be as chaff before the wind, or as dust which the storm has taken up.
¿Son como concha de grano trillado llevada por el viento, y como pasto que arrebata la tormenta?
19 Let his substance fail [to supply] his children: [God] shall recompense him, and he shall know it.
Ustedes dicen: ʼElohim guarda la perversidad del hombre para sus hijos. ¡Que ʼElohim le retribuya para que aprenda!
20 Let his eyes see his own destruction, and let him not be saved by the Lord.
¡Vean sus ojos su ruina, y beba él mismo de la ira de ʼEL-Shadday!
21 For his desire is in his house with him, and the number of his months has been suddenly cut off.
Pues después que muera y acabe la cuenta de sus meses, ¿qué le importa su familia?
22 Is it not the Lord who teaches understanding and knowledge? and does not he judge murders?
¿Puede alguno enseñar conocimientos a ʼElohim, puesto que Él juzga a los que están en las alturas?
23 One shall die in his perfect strength, and wholly at ease and prosperous;
Un hombre muere en la plenitud de su vigor, completamente tranquilo y en paz,
24 and his inwards are full of fat, and his marrow is diffused [throughout him].
con las cavidades internas llenas de grasa y la médula de sus huesos bien nutrida.
25 And another dies in bitterness of soul, not eating any good thing.
Otro muere con el alma amargada, sin comer jamás con gusto.
26 But they lie down in the earth together, and corruption covers them.
Juntamente están tendidos en el polvo, y los gusanos los cubren.
27 So I know you, that you presumptuously attack me:
Ciertamente conozco los pensamientos de ustedes, y sus estratagemas contra mí.
28 so that you will say, Where is the house of the prince? and where is the covering of the tabernacles of the ungodly?
Sé que dicen: ¿Dónde está la casa del que era poderoso, y la vivienda en la cual vivían los perversos?
29 Ask those that go by the way, and do not disown their tokens.
¿Por qué no lo preguntan a los viajeros, ni han consultado su respuesta?
30 For the wicked hastens to the day of destruction: they shall be led away for the day of his vengeance.
Porque el perverso es preservado en el día de la calamidad, y se lo excluye del día de la ira.
31 Who will tell him his way to his face, whereas he has done [it]? who shall recompense him?
¿Quién le denuncia en la cara su camino? Y lo que hizo, ¿quién se lo retribuye?
32 And he has been led away to the tombs, and he has watched over the heaps.
Porque es conducido al sepulcro, y sobre su tumba se hará vigilancia,
33 The stones of the valley have been sweet to him, and every man shall depart after him, and [there are] innumerable [ones] before him.
y junto a la tumba magnífica se monta guardia. Así, tras él, todo el mundo desfila, y adelante de él, otros sinnúmero.
34 How then do you comfort me in vain? whereas I have no rest from your molestation.
¿Cómo pueden ustedes consolarme con palabras vacías y fútiles, puesto que en sus respuestas solo hay falsedad?
