< Job 11 >

1 Then Sophar the Minaean answered and said,
A LAILA olelo aku la o Zopara ka Naamata, i aku la,
2 He that speaks much, should also hear on the other side: or does the fluent speaker think himself to be righteous? blessed [is] the short lived offspring of woman.
Aole anei e pono ke pane aku i na huaolelo he nui la? E hoaponoia anei ke kanaka lehelehe wale?
3 Be not a speaker of many words; for is there none to answer you?
E paa anei ka waha o kanaka i kou kaena wale ana? A hoomaewaewa mai oe, aole anei he mea nana oe e hoohilahila aku?
4 For say not, I am pure in my works, and blameless before him.
A ua olelo mai oe, he maemae kuu olelo, A ua hala ole au i kou mau maka.
5 But oh that the Lord would speak to you, and open his lips to you!
Ina paha e olelo mai ke Akua, A e wehe ae i kona lehelehe ia oe;
6 Then shall he declare to you the power of wisdom; for it shall be double of that which is with you: and then shall you know, that a just recompence of your sins has come to you from the Lord.
A e hoike mai oia ia oe i na mea huna o ka naauao, Ua papalua ka maiau! Alaila e ike auanei oe, E hoopoina mai no ke Akua i na hewa ou.
7 Will you find out the traces of the Lord? or have you come to the end [of that] which the Almighty has made?
E loaa anei ia oe ka ke Akua mau mea hohonu? E loaa pololei loa anei ia oe ka Mea mana?
8 Heaven [is] high; and what will you do? and there are deeper things than those in hell; what do you know? (Sheol h7585)
Ua kiekie ia e like me ka lani; heaha kau e hana ai? Ua oi kona hohonu i ko ka po; heaha kau e ike ai? (Sheol h7585)
9 Or longer than the measure of the earth, or the breadth of the sea.
Ua oi kona loa mamua o ko ka honua, A o ka laula imua o ko ke kai.
10 And if he should overthrow all things, who will say to him, What have you done?
Ina e hopu mai ia, a hoopaa iho, a hookolokolo, Alaila owai la ka mea e keakea ia ia?
11 For he knows the works of transgressors; and when he sees wickedness, he will not overlook [it].
No ka mea, ua ike no ia i ka poe hewa, Ua nana mai hoi ia i ka hala; Aole anei ia e ike mai?
12 But man vainly buoys himself up with words; and a mortal born of woman [is] like an ass in the desert.
E ake ke kanaka naaupo i akamai, O ke kanaka i hanau nae me he keiki la a ka hoki hihiu.
13 For if you have made your heart pure, and lift up [your] hands towards him;
Ina e hoomakaukau oe i kou naau, A e kikoo aku i kou mau lima io na la;
14 if there is any iniquity in your hands, put if far from you, and let not unrighteousness lodge in your habitation.
Ina he hewa iloko o kou lima, e hoolei loa aku ia; A mai ae e noho ka hewa ma kou mau halelewa.
15 For thus shall your countenance shine again, as pure water; and you shall dive yourself of uncleanness, and shall not fear.
Alaila e hoala ae oe i kou maka me ke kina ole; A e ku paa no oe, aole hoi e makau:
16 And you shall forget trouble, as a wave that has passed by; and you shall not be scared.
No ka mea, e hoopoina no oe i ka ehaeha, A e hoomanao ia mea, e like me ka wai i kahe aku:
17 And your prayer [shall be] as the morning star, and life shall arise to you [as] from the noonday.
A e kupaa kou ola loa ana, e like me ke awakea; Ano ua pouli oe, alaila e like no oe me ke kakahiaka.
18 And you shall be confident, because you have hope; and peace shall dawn to you from out of anxiety and care.
A e maluhia oe, no ka mea, he mea no e laua ai ka manao; Ano ua poho ka manao, aka, alaila, e noho maluhia oe.
19 For you shall be at ease, and there shall be no one to fight against you; and many shall charge, and make supplication to you.
A e moe iho oe ilalo, aohe mea nana oe e hoomakau mai; A nui na mea e hoalohaloha imua ou.
20 But safety shall fail them; for their hope is destruction, and the eyes of the ungodly shall waste away.
Aka, e pio na maka o ka poe hewa, A ua nele lakou i ka puuhonua, A o ko lakou manaolana, o ke kuu ana no ia o ka uhane.
