Jeremias 5
1 Run you about in the streets of Jerusalem, and see, and know, and seek in her broad places, if you can find [one], if there is any one that does judgment, and seeks faithfulness; and I will pardon them, says the Lord.
Gehet durch die Gassen zu Jerusalem und schauet und erfahret und suchet auf ihrer Straße, ob ihr jemand findet, der recht tue und nach dem Glauben frage, so will ich ihr gnädig sein.
2 The Lord lives, they say; do they not therefore swear falsely?
Und wenn sie schon sprechen: Bei dem lebendigen Gott! so schwören sie doch falsch.
3 O Lord, your eyes are upon faithfulness: you have scourged them, but they have not grieved; you have consumed them; but they would not receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; and they would not return.
HERR, deine Augen sehen nach dem Glauben. Du schlägest sie, aber sie fühlen's nicht; du plagest sie, aber sie bessern sich nicht. Sie haben ein härter Angesicht denn ein Fels und wollen sich nicht bekehren.
4 Then I said, It may be they are poor; for they are weak, for they know not the way of the Lord, or the judgment of God.
Ich dachte aber: Wohlan, der arme Haufe ist unverständig, weiß nichts um des HERRN Weg und um ihres Gottes Recht.
5 I will go to the rich men, and will speak to them; for they have known the way of the Lord, and the judgment of God: but, behold, with one consent they have broken the yoke, they have burst the bonds.
Ich will zu den Gewaltigen gehen und mit ihnen reden, dieselbigen werden um des HERRN Weg und ihres Gottes Recht wissen; aber dieselbigen allesamt hatten das Joch zerbrochen und die Seile zerrissen.
6 Therefore has a lion out of the forest struck them, and a wolf has destroyed them even to [their] houses, and a leopard has watched against their cities: all that go forth from them shall be hunted: for they have multiplied their ungodliness, they have strengthened themselves in their revoltings.
Darum wird sie auch der Löwe, der aus dem Walde kommt, zerreißen, und der Wolf aus der Wüste wird sie verderben, und der Pardel wird auf ihre Städte lauern; alle, die daselbst herausgehen, wird er fressen. Denn ihrer Sünden sind zu viel, und bleiben verstockt in ihrem Ungehorsam.
7 In what [way] shall I forgive you for these things? Your sons have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: and I fed them to the full, and they committed adultery, and lodged in harlots' houses.
Wie soll ich dir denn gnädig sein, weil mich deine Kinder verlassen und schwören bei dem, der nicht Gott ist? Und nun ich sie gefüllet habe, treiben sie Ehebruch und laufen ins Hurenhaus.
8 They became as wanton horses: they neighed each one after his neighbor's wife.
Ein jeglicher wiehert nach seines Nächsten Weibe, wie die vollen, müßigen Hengste.
9 Shall I not visit for these things? says the Lord: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this.
Und ich sollte sie um solches nicht heimsuchen? spricht der HERR; und meine Seele sollte sich nicht rächen an solchem Volk, wie dies ist?
10 Go up upon her battlements, and break [them] down; but make not a full end: leave her buttresses: for they are the Lord's.
Stürmet ihre Mauern und werfet sie um und macht es nicht gar aus! Führet ihre Reben weg; denn sie sind nicht des HERRN,
11 For the house of Israel have indeed dealt treacherously against me, says the Lord: the house of Juda also
sondern sie verachten mich, beide, das Haus Israel und das Haus Juda, spricht der HERR.
12 have lied to their Lord, and they have said, These things are not so; no evils shall come upon us; and we shall not see sword or famine.
Sie verleugnen den HERRN und sprechen: Das ist er nicht, und so übel wird es uns nicht gehen, Schwert und Hunger werden wir nicht sehen;
13 Our prophets became wind, and the word of the Lord was not in them.
ja, die Propheten sind Wäscher und haben auch Gottes Wort nicht; es gehe über sie selbst also!
14 Therefore thus says the Lord Almighty, Because you have spoken this word, behold, I have made my words in your mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.
Darum spricht der HERR, der Gott Zebaoth: Weil ihr solche Rede treibet, siehe, so will ich meine Worte in deinem Munde zu Feuer machen und dies Volk zu Holz, und soll sie verzehren.
15 Behold, I [will] bring upon you a nation from far, O house of Israel, says the Lord; a nation the sound of whose language one shall not understand.
Siehe, ich will über euch vom Hause Israel, spricht der HERR, ein Volk von ferne bringen, ein mächtig Volk, die das erste Volk gewesen sind, ein Volk, des Sprache du nicht verstehest und nicht vernehmen kannst, was sie reden.
16 [They are] all mighty men:
Seine Köcher sind offene Gräber, es sind eitel Riesen.
17 and they shall devour your harvest, and your bread; and shall devour your sons, and your daughters; and they shall devour your sheep, and your calves, and devour your vineyards, and your fig-plantations, and your olive yards: and they shall utterly destroy your strong cities, wherein you trusted, with the sword.
Sie werden deine Ernte und dein Brot verzehren, sie werden deine Söhne und Töchter fressen, sie werden deine Schafe und Rinder verschlingen, sie werden deine Weinstöcke und Feigenbäume verzehren; deine festen Städte, darauf du dich verlässest, werden sie mit dem Schwert verderben.
18 And it shall come to pass in those days, says the Lord your God, that I will not utterly destroy you.
Und ich will's, spricht der HERR, zur selbigen Zeit nicht gar aus machen.
19 And it shall come to pass, when you shall say, Therefore has the Lord our God done all these things to us? that you shall say to them, Because you served strange gods in your land, so shall you serve strangers in a land that is not yours.
Und ob sie würden sagen: Warum tut uns der HERR, unser Gott, solches alles? sollst du ihnen antworten: Wie ihr mich, verlassen und fremden Göttern dienet in eurem eigenen Lande, also sollt ihr auch Fremden dienen in einem Lande, das nicht euer ist.
20 Proclaim these things to the house of Jacob, and let them be heard in the house of Juda.
Solches sollt ihr verkündigen im Hause Jakob und predigen in Juda und sprechen:
21 Hear you now these things, O foolish and senseless people; who have eyes, and see not; and have ears, and hear not:
Höret zu, ihr tolles Volk, das keinen Verstand hat, die da Augen haben und sehen nicht, Ohren haben und hören nicht!
22 will you not be afraid of me? says the Lord; and will you not fear before me, who have set the sand for a bound to the sea, [as] a perpetual ordinance, and it shall not pass it: yes, it shall rage, but not prevail; and its waves shall roar, but not pass over it.
Wollt ihr mich nicht fürchten, spricht der HERR, und vor mir nicht erschrecken? Der ich dem Meer den Sand zum Ufer setze, darin es allezeit bleiben muß, darüber es nicht gehen muß; und ob es schon wallet, so vermag es doch nichts, und ob seine Wellen schon toben, so müssen sie doch nicht darüberfahren.
23 But this people has a disobedient and rebellious heart; and they have turned aside and gone back:
Aber dies Volk hat ein abtrünniges, ungehorsames Herz, bleiben abtrünnig und gehen immerfort weg
24 and they have not said in their heart, Let us fear now the Lord our God, who gives us the early and latter rain, according to the season of the fulfillment of the ordinance of harvest, and has preserved [it] for us.
und sprechen nicht einmal in ihrem Herzen: Lasset uns doch den HERRN, unsern Gott, fürchten, der uns Frühregen und Spätregen zu rechter Zeit gibt und uns die Ernte treulich und jährlich behütet.
25 Your transgressions have turned away these things, and your sins have removed good things from you.
Aber eure Missetaten hindern solches und eure Sünden wenden solch Gut von euch.
26 For among my people were found ungodly men; and they have set snares to destroy men, and have caught [them].
Denn man findet unter meinem Volk Gottlose, die den Leuten nachstellen und Fallen zurichten, sie zu fangen, wie die Vogler tun mit Kloben.
27 As a snare which has been set is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore have they grown great, and become rich:
Und ihre Häuser sind voller Tücke, wie ein Vogelbauer voller Lockvögel ist. Daher werden sie gewaltig und reich, fett und glatt.
28 and they have transgressed [the rule of] judgment; they have not judged the cause of the orphan, nor have they judged the cause of the widow.
Sie gehen mit bösen Stücken um; sie halten kein Recht, dem Waisen fördern sie seine Sache nicht, und gelinget ihnen, und helfen den Armen nicht zum Recht.
29 Shall I not visit for these things? says the Lord: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
Sollte ich denn solches nicht heimsuchen, spricht der HERR, und meine Seele sollte sich nicht rächen an solchem Volk, wie dies ist?
30 Shocking and horrible deeds have been done on the land;
Es stehet greulich und scheußlich im Lande.
31 the prophets utter unrighteous prophecies, and the priests have clapped their hands: and my people has loved [to have it] thus: and what will you do for the future.
Die Propheten lehren falsch, und die Priester herrschen in ihrem Amt, und mein Volk, hat's gern also. Wie will es euch zuletzt darob gehen?
