Jeremias 4
1 If Israel will return to me, says the Lord, he shall return: and if he will remove his abominations out of his mouth, and fear before me, and swear,
੧ਹੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ, ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਮੁੜੇਂ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਵੱਲ ਮੁੜੇਂਗਾ। ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਘਿਣਾਉਣੀਆਂ ਚੀਜ਼ਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਕਰੇਂ, ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਅਵਾਰਾ ਨਾ ਫਿਰੇਂ,
2 The Lord lives, with truth, in judgment and righteousness, then shall nations bless by him, and by him they shall praise God in Jerusalem.
੨ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਖਾਵੇਂ, ਸਚਿਆਈ ਨਾਲ, ਨਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਨਾਲ, ਤਦ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਆਖਣਗੀਆਂ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਤਤ ਦੇਣਗੀਆਂ।
3 For thus says the Lord to the men of Juda, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Break up fresh ground for yourselves, and sow not among thorns.
੩ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਲਈ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਆਪਣੀ ਪਈ ਹੋਈ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਹੋ, ਅਤੇ ਕੰਡਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਬੀਜੋ।
4 Circumcise yourselves to your God, and circumcise your hardness of heart, you men of Juda, and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my wrath go forth as fire, and burn, and there be none to quench it, because of the evil of your devices.
੪ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੁੰਨਤ ਕਰਾਓ, ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੀ ਖੱਲੜੀ ਲਹਾਓ, ਹੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖੋ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਵਾਸੀਓ! ਮਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਅੱਗ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਭੜਕ ਉੱਠੇ, ਉਹ ਬਲ ਉੱਠੇ ਅਤੇ ਬੁਝਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਤੁਹਾਡੀਆਂ ਕਰਤੂਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ।
5 Declare you in Juda, and let it be heard in Jerusalem: say you, Sound the trumpet in the land; cry you aloud: say you, Gather yourselves together, and let us enter into the fortified cities.
੫ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਸੋ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਣਾਓ, ਅਤੇ ਆਖੋ ਭਈ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀ ਫੂਕੋ, ਉੱਚੀ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਪੁਕਾਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਆਖੋ, ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਜੋ ਭਈ ਅਸੀਂ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੱਲੀਏ!
6 Gather up [your wares] and flee to Sion: hasten, stay not: for I will bring evils from the north, and great destruction.
੬ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਝੰਡਾ ਉੱਚਾ ਕਰੋ, ਪਨਾਹ ਲਈ ਨੱਠੋ ਅਤੇ ਖਲੋਵੋ ਨਾ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉੱਤਰ ਵਲੋਂ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਬਰਬਾਦੀ ਲਿਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ!
7 The lion is gone up from his lair, he has roused [himself] to the destruction of the nations, and has gone forth out of his place, to make the land desolate; and the cities shall be destroyed, so as to be without inhabitant.
੭ਇੱਕ ਬੱਬਰ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਝਾੜ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਿੱਕਲਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਕੂਚ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਥਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਨਿੱਕਲਿਆ, ਭਈ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੇਸ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਰਾਨ ਕਰੇ। ਤੇਰੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਥੇਹ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਵੱਸਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਰਹੇਗਾ।
8 For these things gird yourselves with sackcloth, and lament, and howl: for the anger of the Lord is not turned away from you.
੮ਇਸ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੱਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਤੱਪੜ ਪਾਓ, ਸਿਆਪਾ ਕਰੋ ਤੇ ਕੁਰਲਾਓ, ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਤੇਜ਼ ਗੁੱਸਾ ਸਾਥੋਂ ਟਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਿਆ।
9 And it shall come to pass in that day, says the Lord, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be amazed, and the prophets shall wonder.
੯ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਰਾਜਾ ਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਬੈਠ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਅਤੇ ਜਾਜਕ ਡਰ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਬੀ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਹੋਣਗੇ
10 And I said, O sovereign Lord, verily you have deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, There shall be peace; whereas behold, the sword has reached even to their soul.
੧੦ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹਾਏ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ! ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਇਸ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਖ ਕੇ ਵੱਡਾ ਧੋਖਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਭਈ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਪਰ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਜਾਨਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਅੱਪੜ ਪਈ ਹੈ!।
11 At that time they shall say to this people and to Jerusalem, [There is] a spirit of error in the wilderness: the way of the daughter of my people is not to purity, nor to holiness.
੧੧ਉਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਸ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਖਿਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਕਿ ਉੱਚਿਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਤੱਤੀ ਹਵਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਵੱਲ ਉਜਾੜ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਗੇਗੀ, ਉਡਾਉਣ ਜਾਂ ਸਾਫ਼ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਨਹੀਂ,
12 [But] a spirit of full vengeance shall come upon me; and now I declare my judgments against them.
੧੨ਸਗੋਂ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਤੁੰਦ ਹਵਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਵੱਗੇਗੀ, ਨਾਲੇ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।
13 Behold, he shall come up as a cloud, and his chariots as a tempest: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us! for we are in misery.
੧੩ਵੇਖ ਉਹ ਬੱਦਲਾਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਆ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਰਥ ਵਾਵਰੋਲੇ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਉਕਾਬਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਤੇਜ ਹਨ, ਹਾਏ ਸਾਨੂੰ! ਅਸੀਂ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋ ਗਏ!
14 Cleanse your heart from wickedness, O Jerusalem, that you may be saved: how long will your grievous thoughts be within you?
੧੪ਹੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਤੋਂ ਧੋ, ਭਈ ਤੂੰ ਬਚਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਂ। ਕਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚਿਰ ਤੇਰੇ ਬੁਰੇ ਖਿਆਲ ਤੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ?
15 For a voice of one publishing from Dan shall come, and trouble out of mount Ephraim shall be heard of.
੧੫ਦਾਨ ਤੋਂ ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਦੱਸਦੀ, ਅਤੇ ਇਫ਼ਰਾਈਮ ਦੇ ਪਰਬਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਦੀ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਸੁਣਾਉਂਦੀ,
16 Remind you the nations; behold, they are come: proclaim [it] in Jerusalem, that bands are approaching from a land afar off, and have uttered their voice against the cities of Juda.
੧੬ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਾਓ, - ਵੇਖੋ, ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਦਿਓ, ਕਿ ਘੇਰਾ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੂਰ ਦੇਸ ਤੋਂ ਲੱਗੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ!
17 As keepers of a field, they have surrounded her; because you, says the Lord, has neglected me.
੧੭ਉਹ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਲਲਕਾਰਦੇ ਹਨ! ਪੈਲੀ ਦੇ ਰਾਖਿਆਂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੌਂਹ ਪਾਸਿਓਂ ਘੇਰਨਗੇ, ਉਹ ਮੈਥੋਂ ਆਕੀ ਜੋ ਹੋ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਵਾਕ ਹੈ।
18 Your ways and your devices have brought these things upon you; this is your wickedness, for [it is] bitter, for it has reached to your heart.
੧੮ਤੇਰੀ ਚਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ, ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਕੌੜੀ ਹੈ, ਇਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਤੱਕ ਅੱਪੜ ਗਈ ਹੈ!
19 I am pained in my bowels, my bowels, and the sensitive powers of my heart; my soul is in great commotion, my heart is torn: I will not be silent, for my soul has heard the sound of a trumpet, the cry of war, and of distress: it calls on destruction;
੧੯ਹਾਏ ਮੈਨੂੰ! ਹਾਏ ਮੈਨੂੰ! ਮੇਰੇ ਦਿਲ ਦੇ ਪੜਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੀੜ ਹੈ, ਮੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਬੇਚੈਨ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਚੁੱਪ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ! ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼, ਅਤੇ ਲੜਾਈ ਦੀ ਲਲਕਾਰ ਸੁਣਦੀ ਹੈ।
20 for all the land is distressed: suddenly [my] tabernacle is distressed, my curtains have been tore asunder.
੨੦ਰਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਾਰ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਕਿ ਸਾਰਾ ਦੇਸ ਤਬਾਹ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਅਚਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਨਾਸ ਗਏ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੜਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਦਮ ਵਿੱਚ।
21 How long shall I see fugitives, and hear the sound of the trumpet?
੨੧ਮੈਂ ਕਦ ਤੱਕ ਇਹ ਝੰਡਾ ਵੇਖਾਂਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣਾਂਗਾ?
22 For the princes of my people have not known me, they are foolish and unwise children: they are wise to do evil, but [how] to do good they have not known.
੨੨ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਤਾਂ ਮੂਰਖ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੀ। ਉਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਬੱਚੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ। ਉਹ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨੇਕੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦੇ।
23 I looked upon the earth, and, behold, [it was] not; and to the sky, an there was no light in it.
੨੩ਮੈਂ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਹ ਬੇਡੌਲ ਅਤੇ ਸੁੰਨੀ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਅਕਾਸ਼ਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਚਾਨਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
24 I saw the mountains, and they trembled, and [I saw] all the hills in commotion.
੨੪ਮੈਂ ਪਹਾੜਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਹ ਕੰਬ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ, ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਟਿੱਲੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ!
25 I looked, and behold, there was no man, and all the birds of the sky were scared.
੨੫ਮੈਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ, ਕੋਈ ਆਦਮੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪੰਛੀ ਉੱਡ ਗਏ।
26 I saw, and, behold, Carmel was desert, and all the cities were burnt with fire at the presence of the Lord, and at the presence of his fierce anger they were utterly destroyed.
੨੬ਮੈਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਖੋ, ਉਹ ਦਾ ਮੇਵੇਦਾਰ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਉਜਾੜ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਅੱਗੇ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਡਾਢੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋ ਗਏ।
27 Thus says the Lord, The whole land shall be desolate; but I will not make a full end.
੨੭ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, - ਸਾਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿਰਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ, ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਮੈਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਕਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਮੁਕਾਵਾਂਗਾ!
28 For these things let the earth mourn, and let the sky be dark above: for I have spoken, and I will not repent; I have purposed, and I will not turn back from it.
੨੮ਇਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਸੋਗ ਕਰੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਕਾਸ਼ ਕਾਲੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੋਲ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਠਾਣਿਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਗਰੰਜ ਹੋਵਾਂਗਾ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਮੁੜਾਂਗਾ।
29 The whole land has recoiled from the noise of the horseman and the bent bow; they have gone into the caves, and have hidden themselves in the groves, and have gone up upon the rocks: every city was abandoned, no man lived in them.
੨੯ਘੋੜ ਚੜ੍ਹੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਰ-ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਨਾਲ, ਹਰੇਕ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੱਠ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਝੰਗੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੜਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਚਟਾਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹਰੇਕ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ।
30 And what will you do? Though you clothe yourself with scarlet, and adorn yourself with golden ornaments; though you adorn your eyes with stibium, your beauty [will be] in vain: your lovers have rejected you, they seek your life.
੩੦ਹੇ ਉਜਾੜਨ ਵਾਲੀਏ, ਤੂੰ ਕੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈਂ? ਭਾਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਲਾਲ ਜੋੜਾ ਪਾਵੇਂ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੇ ਗਹਿਣਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਜਾਵੇਂ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਰਮਾ ਪਾਵੇਂ, ਤੂੰ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਹਣੀ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਤੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਤੈਥੋਂ ਘਿਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ।
31 For I have heard your groaning as the voice of a woman in travail, as of her that brings forth her first child; the voice of the daughter of Zion shall fail through weakness, and she shall lose the strength of her hands, [saying], Woe is me! for my soul faints because of the slain.
੩੧ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਔਰਤ ਵਰਗੀ ਇੱਕ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣੀ, ਜਿਹ ਨੂੰ ਜਣਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੀੜਾਂ ਹੋਣ, - ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਰਗੀ ਡਾਢੀ ਪੀੜ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਹਿਲੌਠਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਜਣਦੀ, ਸੀਯੋਨ ਦੀ ਧੀ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਸਾਹ ਲਈ ਹੌਂਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਹੜੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਧਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਹਾਏ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਖ਼ੂਨੀਆਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਡੋਬ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ!।
