Jeremias 14
1 AND THE WORD OF THE LORD CAME TO JEREMIAS CONCERNING THE DROUGHT.
ಕ್ಷಾಮವನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಯೆರೆಮೀಯನಿಗೆ ಉಂಟಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವು:
2 Judea has mourned, and her gates are emptied, and are darkened upon the earth; and the cry of Jerusalem is gone up.
“ಯೆಹೂದವು ದುಃಖಪಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವಳ ನಗರಗಳು ಸೊರಗುತ್ತವೆ; ಅವರು ಭೂಮಿಗಾಗಿ ಗೋಳಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಕೂಗು ಏರಿ ಬಂತು.
3 And her nobles have sent their little ones to the water: they came to the wells, and found no water: and brought back their vessels empty.
ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠರು ತಮ್ಮ ಚಿಕ್ಕವರನ್ನು ನೀರಿಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇವರು ಬಾವಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಬರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ನೀರು ಸಿಕ್ಕಲ್ಲ. ಬರೀ ಪಾತ್ರೆಗಳುಳ್ಳವರಾಗಿ ತಿರುಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಅವರು ನಾಚಿಕೆಪಟ್ಟು ದಿಗ್ಭ್ರಮೆಗೊಂಡವರಾಗಿ, ತಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
4 And the labors of the land failed, because there was no rain: the husbandmen were ashamed, they covered their heads.
ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಳೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಭೂಮಿಯು ಬಿರುಕುಬಿಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಒಕ್ಕಲಿಗರು ನಿರಾಶರಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ತಲೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ.
5 And hinds calved in the field, and forsook [it], because there was no grass.
ಹೌದು, ಜಿಂಕೆಯು ಸಹ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಲ್ಲು ಇಲ್ಲದ್ದರಿಂದ, ತನ್ನ ಮರಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿ, ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬಿಡುತ್ತದೆ.
6 The wild asses stood by the forests, and snuffed up the wind; their eyes failed, because there was no grass.
ಕಾಡುಕತ್ತೆಗಳು ಉನ್ನತ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತು, ನರಿಗಳ ಹಾಗೆ ಗಾಳಿಯನ್ನು ಹೀರಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತವೆ. ಹುಲ್ಲು ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಅವುಗಳ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಕ್ಷೀಣವಾಗುತ್ತವೆ.”
7 Our sins have risen up against us: O Lord, do you for us for your own sake; for our sins are many before you; for we have sinned against you.
ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ಅಕ್ರಮಗಳು ನಮಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟರೂ, ನೀನೇ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಸಾಧಿಸು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ, ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿಂಜಾರುವಿಕೆಗಳು ಅನೇಕವಾಗಿವೆ; ನಿಮಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ.
8 O Lord, [you are] the hope of Israel, and deliver [us] in time of troubles; why are you become as a sojourner upon the land, or as one born in the land, yet turning aside for a resting-place?
ಓ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯೇ, ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಿನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವವರೇ, ನೀನು ಏಕೆ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನ್ಯನ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ, ರಾತ್ರಿ ಕಳೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಸ್ಥನ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಇರಬೇಕು?
9 Will you be as a man asleep, or as a [strong] man that can’t save? yet you are among us, O Lord, and your name is called upon us; forget us not.
ಏಕೆ ಸ್ತಬ್ಧನಂತೆಯೂ, ರಕ್ಷಿಸಲಾರದ ಶೂರನ ಹಾಗೆಯೂ ಇದ್ದೀ? ಆದರೂ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ನೀವು ನಮ್ಮ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿರುತ್ತೀರಿ, ನಾವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದೇವೆ, ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕೈಬಿಡಬೇಡಿರಿ.
10 Thus says the Lord to this people, They have loved to wander, and they have not spared, therefore God has not prospered them; now will he remember their iniquity.
ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಈ ಜನರಿಗೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ: “ಹೀಗೆ ತಿರುಗಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ಇಷ್ಟಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ತಮ್ಮ ಕಾಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಂದೆಗೆಯುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ಅವರನ್ನು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಈಗಲೇ ಅವರ ಅಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವೆನು. ಅವರ ಪಾಪಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ದಂಡಿಸುವೆನು.”
11 And the Lord said to me, Pray not for this people for [their] good:
ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನನಗೆ, “ಈ ಜನರಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ.
12 for though they fast, I will not hear their supplication; and though they offer whole burnt offerings and sacrifices, I will take no pleasure in them: for I will consume them with sword, and with famine, and with pestilence.
ಅವರು ಉಪವಾಸ ಮಾಡಿದರೂ, ನಾನು ಅವರ ಮೊರೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರು ದಹನಬಲಿಗಳನ್ನೂ, ಧಾನ್ಯ ಸಮರ್ಪಣೆಗಳನ್ನೂ ಅರ್ಪಿಸಿದರೂ ನಾನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ನಾನು ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದಲೂ ಕ್ಷಾಮದಿಂದಲೂ ವ್ಯಾಧಿಯಿಂದಲೂ ಅವರನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮೂಲ ಮಾಡಿಬಿಡುತ್ತೇನೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
13 And I said, O [ever] living Lord! behold, their prophets prophesy, and say, You shall not see a sword, nor shall famine be among you; for I will give truth and peace on the land, and in this place.
ಆಗ ನಾನು, “ಹಾ, ಸಾರ್ವಭೌಮ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ಇಗೋ, ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳು ಅವರಿಗೆ: ‘ನೀವು ಖಡ್ಗವನ್ನು ನೋಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನಿಮಗೆ ಕ್ಷಾಮವು ಬಾರದು. ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನಿಮಗೆ ಈ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಿರಸಮಾಧಾನ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾರೆ,’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ,” ಎಂದೆನು.
14 Then the Lord said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, and I commanded them not, and I spoke not to them: for they prophesy to you false visions, and divinations, and auguries, and devices of their own heart.
ಆಗ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನೆಂದರೆ: “ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳು ನನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಳ್ಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ನಾನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞೆಕೊಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಸುಳ್ಳಿನ ದರ್ಶನವನ್ನೂ, ಶಕುನವನ್ನೂ, ಮಾಯ ಮಂತ್ರವನ್ನೂ, ತಮ್ಮ ಹೃದಯದ ಕಪಟವನ್ನೂ ನಿಮಗೆ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ.
15 Therefore thus says the Lord concerning the prophets that prophesy lies in my name, and I sent them not, who say, Sword and famine shall not be upon this land; they shall die by a grievous death, and the prophets shall be consumed by famine.
ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು ತಾನು ಕಳುಹಿಸದೆ, ತನ್ನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುವಂಥ ಮತ್ತು, ‘ಈ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಖಡ್ಗವೂ ಬರವೂ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ,’ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವಂಥ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು, ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದಲೂ ಕ್ಷಾಮದಿಂದಲೂ ಆ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳು ತಾವೇ ನಿರ್ಮೂಲವಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ.
16 And the people to whom they prophesy, they also shall be cast out in the streets of Jerusalem, because of the sword and famine; and there shall be none to bury them: their wives also, and their sons, and their daughters [shall die thus]; and I will pour out their wickedness upon them.
ಅವರು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಸುವ ಜನರು ಕ್ಷಾಮದ ಮತ್ತು ಖಡ್ಗದ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಬೀದಿಪಾಲಾಗುವರು. ಅವರನ್ನೂ, ಅವರ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರನ್ನೂ, ಅವರ ಪುತ್ರಪುತ್ರಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಹೂಳಿಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಯಾರೂ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಅರ್ಹವಾದ ಆಪತ್ತನ್ನು ನಾನು ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಸುರಿಯುತ್ತೇನೆ.
17 And you shall speak this word to them; Let your eyes shed tears day and night, and let them not cease: for the daughter of my people has been sorely bruised, and her plague is very grievous.
“ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ನೀನು ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಬೇಕು. “‘ನನ್ನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಹಗಲು ಬಿಡದೆ ಕಣ್ಣೀರು ಸುರಿಸಲಿ. ನನ್ನ ಜನರ ಮಗಳಾದ ಕನ್ಯೆಯು ಕ್ರೂರವಾದ ಏಟಿನಿಂದಲೂ, ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪೆಟ್ಟಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಗಾಯಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾಳೆ.
18 If I go forth into the plain, then behold the slain by the sword! and if I enter into the city, then behold the distress of famine! for priest and prophet have gone to a land which they knew not.
ನಾನು ಹೊಲಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದರೆ ಇಗೋ, ಖಡ್ಗದಿಂದ ಸತ್ತವರು ಕಾಣಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದರೆ ಇಗೋ, ಕ್ಷಾಮದಿಂದ ರೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿದ್ದವರು ಕಾಣಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹೌದು, ಪ್ರವಾದಿಯೂ, ಯಾಜಕನೂ ತಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯದ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಚಾರ ಮಾಡುವರು.’”
19 Hast you utterly rejected Juda? and has your soul departed from Sion? therefore has you struck us, and there is no healing for us? we waited for peace, but there was no prosperity; for a time of healing, and behold trouble!
ನೀನು ಯೆಹೂದವನ್ನು ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ತ್ಯಜಿಸಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೀಯೋ? ಚೀಯೋನಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಮನಃಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ಅಸಹ್ಯಪಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೀಯೋ? ನಮಗೆ ಗುಣವಾಗದಂತೆ ಏಕೆ ಪೆಟ್ಟು ಹೊಡೆದಿ? ಸುಖವನ್ನು ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿದೆವು, ಯಾವ ಮೇಲೂ ಆಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕ್ಷೇಮ ಕಾಲವನ್ನು ಎದುರು ನೋಡಿದೆವು, ಹಾ, ಅಂಜಿಕೆಯೇ.
20 We know, O Lord, our sins, [and] the iniquities of our fathers: for we have sinned before you.
ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ದುಷ್ಟತನವನ್ನೂ, ನಮ್ಮ ಪಿತೃಗಳ ದುರಾಚಾರವನ್ನೂ ತಿಳಿದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ, ನಿಮಗೆ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಪಾಪಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವಲ್ಲಾ.
21 Refrain for your name's sake, destroy not the throne of your glory: remember, break not your covenant with us.
ನಿಮ್ಮ ನಾಮದ ಮೇಲೆ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಿಡಿ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಹಿಮೆಯ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನವನ್ನು ಅಸಡ್ಡೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಡಿ, ಅವಮಾನಪಡಿಸಬೇಡಿ. ನೀವು ನಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡ ಒಡಂಬಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಜ್ಞಾಪಕಕ್ಕೆ ತಂದುಕೋ, ಅದನ್ನು ಭಂಗಪಡಿಸದಿರಿ.
22 Is there any one among the idols of the Gentiles that can give rain? and will the sky yield his fulness [at their bidding]? Are not you he? we will even wait on you, O Lord: for you have made all these things.
ಜನಾಂಗಗಳ ವ್ಯರ್ಥ ವಿಗ್ರಹಗಳೊಳಗೆ ಮಳೆಯನ್ನು ಸುರಿಸಬಲ್ಲವುಗಳುಂಟೇ? ಆಕಾಶವು ತಾನಾಗಿ ಹದ ಮಳೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟೀತೇ? ಅಲ್ಲ, ನೀವೇ, ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಯೆಹೋವ ದೇವರು, ನೀವೇ ವೃಷ್ಟಿದಾತರು, ನಾವು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನೇ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿಸುವೆವು, ನೀವು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಡಿಸುವವರಾಗಿದ್ದೀರಷ್ಟೆ.
