Jeremias 12

1 Righteous are you, O Lord, that I may make my defence to you, yes, I will speak to you [of] judgments. Why [is it] that the way of ungodly [men] prospers? [that] all that deal very treacherously are flourishing?

۱ ای خداوند تو عادل تر هستی از اینکه من با تو محاجه نمایم. لیکن درباره احکامت با تو سخن خواهم راند. چرا راه شریران برخوردار می‌شود و جمیع خیانتکاران ایمن می‌باشند؟

2 You have planted them, and they have taken root; they have begotten children, and become fruitful; you are near to their mouth, and far from their reins.

۲ تو ایشان را غرس نمودی پس ریشه زدند و نمو کرده، میوه نیز آوردند. تو به دهان ایشان نزدیکی، اما از قلب ایشان دور.

3 But you, Lord, know me; you have proved my heart before you; purify them for the day of their slaughter.

۳ اما تو‌ای خداوند مرا می‌شناسی و مرا دیده، دل مرا نزدخود امتحان کرده‌ای. ایشان را مثل گوسفندان برای ذبح بیرون کش و ایشان را به جهت روز قتل تعیین نما.

4 How long shall the land mourn, and the grass of the field wither, for the wickedness of them, that dwell in it? the beasts and birds are utterly destroyed; because [the people] said, God shall not see our ways.

۴ زمین تا به کی ماتم خواهد نمود و گیاه تمامی صحرا خشک خواهد ماند. حیوانات ومرغان به‌سبب شرارت ساکنانش تلف شده اندزیرا می‌گویند که او آخرت ما را نخواهد دید.

5 Your feet run, and they cause you to faint; how will you prepare [to ride] upon horses? and you have been confident in the land of your peace? how will you do in the roaring of Jordan?

۵ اگر وقتی که با پیادگان دویدی تو را خسته کردند پس چگونه با اسبان می‌توانی برابری کنی؟ و هر‌چند در زمین سالم، ایمن هستی در طغیان اردن چه خواهی کرد؟

6 For even your brethren and the house of your father, even these have dealt treacherously with you; and they have cried out, they are gathered together in pursuit of you; trust not you in them, though they shall speak fair [words] to you.

۶ زیرا که هم برادرانت وهم خاندان پدرت به تو خیانت نمودند و ایشان نیزدر عقب تو صدای بلند می‌کنند پس اگر‌چه سخنان نیکو به تو بگویند ایشان را باور مکن.

7 I have forsaken mine house, I have left mine heritage; I have given my beloved one into the hands of her enemies.

۷ من خانه خود را ترک کرده، میراث خویش رادور انداختم. و محبوبه خود را به‌دست دشمنانش تسلیم نمودم.

8 My inheritance has become to me as a lion in a forest; she has uttered her voice against me; therefore have I hated her.

۸ و میراث من مثل شیرجنگل برای من گردید. و به ضد من آواز خود رابلند کرد از این جهت از او نفرت کردم.

9 Is not my inheritance to me a hyaena's cave, or a cave round about her? Go you, gather together all the wild beasts of the field, and let them come to devour her.

۹ آیامیراث من برایم مثل مرغ شکاری رنگارنگ که مرغان دور او را گرفته باشند شده است؟ بروید وجمیع حیوانات صحرا را جمع کرده، آنها رابیاورید تا بخورند.

10 Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard, they have defiled my portion, they have made my desirable portion a trackless wilderness;

۱۰ شبانان بسیار تاکستان مراخراب کرده، میراث مرا پایمال نمودند. و میراث مرغوب مرا به بیابان ویران مبدل ساختند.

11 it is made a complete ruin: for my sake the whole land has been utterly ruined, because there is none that lays [the matter] to heart.

۱۱ آن را ویران ساختند و آن ویران شده نزد من ماتم گرفته است. تمامی زمین ویران شده، چونکه کسی این را در دل خود راه نمی دهد.

12 The ravagers are come to every passage in the wilderness: for the sword of the Lord will devour from one end of the land to the other: no flesh has any peace.

۱۲ بر تمامی بلندیهای صحرا، تاراج کنندگان هجوم آوردندزیرا که شمشیر خداوند از کنار زمین تا کناردیگرش هلاک می‌کند و برای هیچ بشری ایمنی نیست.

13 Sow wheat, and reap thorns; their portions shall not profit them: be ashamed of your boasting, because of reproach before the Lord.

۱۳ گندم کاشتند و خار درویدند، خویشتن را به رنج آورده، نفع نبردند. و از محصول شما به‌سبب حدت خشم خداوند خجل گردیدند.

14 For thus says the Lord, concerning all the evil neighbors that touch mine inheritance, which I have divided to my people Israel; Behold, I [will] draw them away from their land, and I will cast out Juda from the midst of them.

۱۴ خداوند درباره جمیع همسایگان شریرخود که ضرر می‌رسانند به ملکی که قوم خوداسرائیل را مالک آن ساخته است چنین می‌گوید: «اینک ایشان را از آن زمین برمی کنم و خاندان یهودا را از میان ایشان برمی کنم.

15 And it shall come to pass, after I have cast them out, [that] I will return, and have mercy upon them, and will cause them to dwell every one in his inheritance, and every one in his land.

۱۵ و بعد ازبرکندن ایشان رجوع خواهم کرد و بر ایشان ترحم خواهم نمود و هر کس از ایشان را به ملک خویش و هر کس را به زمین خود باز خواهم آورد.

16 And it shall be, if they will indeed learn the way of my people, to swear by my name, [saying], The Lord lives; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall [that nation] be built in the midst of my people.

۱۶ و اگر ایشان طریق های قوم مرا نیکو یادگرفته، به اسم من یعنی به حیات یهوه قسم خورندچنانکه ایشان قوم مرا تعلیم دادند که به بعل قسم خورند، آنگاه ایشان در میان قوم من بنا خواهند شد.

17 But if they will not return, then will I cut off that nation with utter ruin and destruction.

۱۷ اما اگر نشنوند آنگاه آن امت را بالکل برکنده، هلاک خواهم ساخت.» کلام خداوند این است.
