< Esias 31 >

1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, who trust in horses and chariots, for they are many; and in horses, [which are] a great multitude; and have not trusted in the Holy One of Israel, and have not sought the Lord.
‌ʻE malaʻia ʻakinautolu ʻoku ʻalu hifo ki ʻIsipite ke kumi ʻae tokoni; pea faʻaki ki he fanga hoosi, mo falala ki he ngaahi saliote, koeʻuhi ʻoku nau tokolahi; pea ʻi he kau tangata heka hoosi, koeʻuhi ʻoku nau mālohi ʻaupito; ka ʻoku ʻikai te nau vakai ki he tokotaha māʻoniʻoni ʻo ʻIsileli, pe kumi kia Sihova!
2 Therefore he has wisely brought evils upon them, and his word shall not be frustrated; and he shall rise up against the houses of wicked men, and against their vain hope,
Ka ʻoku ne poto foki mo ia, pea te ne fakahoko mai ʻae kovi, pea ʻe ʻikai fakafoki ʻene ngaahi folofola: ka te ne tuʻu hake ki he fale ʻoe fai kovi, pea kiate kinautolu ʻoku tokoni ki he kau fai kovi.
3 [even] an Egyptian, a man, and not God; the flesh of horses, and there is no help [in them]: but the Lord shall bring his hand upon them, and the helpers shall fail, and all shall perish together.
4 For thus said the Lord to me, As a lion would roar, or a lion's whelp over prey which he has taken, and cry over it, until the mountains are filled with his voice, and [the animals] are awe-struck and tremble at the fierceness of his wrath: so the Lord of hosts shall descend to fight upon the mount Sion, [even] upon her mountains.
He kuo folofola pehē ʻe Sihova kiate au, “ʻO hangē ko e ngungulu ʻoe laione mo e laione mui ʻi heʻene kai, ʻoka fakataha ʻae kau tauhi kotoa pē ke fai mo ia, ʻe ʻikai te ne manavahē ki honau leʻo, pe fakavaivai ia koeʻuhi ko honau tokolahi: ʻe pehē ʻae hāʻele hifo ʻa Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau ke fai ʻae tau, maʻa e moʻunga ko Saione, pea mo hono tafungofunga.
5 As birds flying, so shall the Lord of hosts defend; he shall defend Jerusalem, and he shall rescue, and save and deliver.
‌ʻO hangē ko e puna ʻae fanga manu, ʻe fakahaofi pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau ʻa Selūsalema: ʻi heʻene maluʻi te ne fakamoʻui ia; pea ʻi heʻene hāʻele atu te ne fakahaofi ia.”
6 Turn, you children of Israel, who devise a deep and sinful counsel.
Tafoki ʻakimoutolu kiate ia ʻaia kuo angatuʻu ʻaupito ki ai ʻae fānau ʻa ʻIsileli.
7 For in that day men shall renounce their silver idols and [their] golden idols, which their hands made.
Pea ʻi he ʻaho ko ia ʻe liʻaki ʻe he tangata kotoa pē ʻene ngaahi tamapua siliva, pea mo ʻene ngaahi tamapua koula, ʻaia kuo ngaohi ʻe homou nima kiate kimoutolu ko e angahala.
8 And the Assyrian shall fall: not the sword of a great man, nor the sword of a mean man shall devour him; neither shall he flee from the face of the sword: but the young men shall be overthrown:
“Pea ʻe toki tō ʻae tangata ʻAsilia ʻi he heletā, kae ʻikai ʻo ha tangata mālohi; pea ʻe kai ia ʻe he heletā, kae ʻikai ʻo ha tangata meʻa vale: ka te ne hola mei he heletā, pea ʻe vaivai ʻene kau talavou.
9 for they shall be compassed with rocks as with a trench, and shall be worsted; and he that flees shall be taken. Thus says the Lord, Blesses is he that has a seed in Sion, and household friends in Jerusalem.
Pea ʻi he manavahē te ne ʻalu ki hono potu mālohi, pea ʻe manavahē hono ngaahi houʻeiki ki he fuka,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻaia ʻoku ʻi Saione ʻene afi, pea ʻoku ʻi Selūsalema ʻene ngotoʻumu vela.
