Esias 1

1 The vision which Esaias the son of Amos saw, which he saw against Juda, and against Jerusalem, in the reign of Ozias, and Joatham, and Achaz, and Ezekias, who reigned over Judea.

यहूदिया तथा येरूशलेम के विषय में आमोज़ के पुत्र यशायाह का दर्शन, जो उन्हें यहूदिया के राजा उज्जियाह, योथाम, आहाज़, और हिज़किय्याह के शासनकाल में प्राप्‍त हुआ.

2 Hear, O heaven, and listen, O earth: for the Lord has spoken, [saying], I have begotten and reared up children, but they have rebelled against me.

हे आकाश! और पृथ्वी सुनो! क्योंकि यह याहवेह की आज्ञा है: “कि मैंने अपने बच्चों का पालन पोषण किया और उन्हें बढ़ाया, किंतु उन्होंने मुझसे नफरत की.

3 The ox knows his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel does not know me, and the people has not regarded me.

बैल अपने स्वामी को जानता है, और गधा अपने स्वामी की चरनी को, किंतु इस्राएल, मेरी प्रजा को इसकी समझ नहीं.”

4 Ah sinful nation, a people full of sins, an evil seed, lawless children: you have forsaken the Lord, and provoked the Holy One of Israel.

हाय है तुम लोगों पर, जो पाप और अधर्म से भरे हो, जिनमें सच्चाई नहीं, और जिनका स्वभाव बुरा है! जिसने याहवेह को छोड़ दिया है; और जिसने इस्राएल के पवित्र स्वामी का अपमान किया और जो याहवेह से दूर हो गया है!

5 Why should you be struck [any] more, transgressing more and more? the whole head is pained, and the whole heart sad.

तुम क्यों बुरा बनना चाहते हो? विद्रोह करते हो? तुम्हारे सिर में घाव है, और तुम्हारा मन दुःखी है.

6 From the feet to the head, there is no soundness in them; neither wound, nor bruise, nor festering ulcer [are healed]: it is not possible to apply a plaister, nor oil, nor bandages.

सिर से पांव तक घाव और शरीर में खरोंच चोट है जिन्हें न तो पोंछा गया, न ही पट्टी बांधी गई और कोमल बनाने के लिए न ही उन पर तेल लगाया गया.

7 Your land is desolate, your cities burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is made desolate, overthrown by strange nations.

तुम्हारा देश उजड़ गया, नगर आग से भस्म कर दिए गए; लोगों ने तुम्हारे खेतों को ले लिया.

8 The daughter of Sion shall be deserted as a tent in a vineyard, and as a storehouse of fruits in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.

ज़ियोन की पुत्री अंगूर के बगीचे में छोड़ दी गई, ककड़ी के खेत में आश्रय के जैसे, या पिछड़े हुए नगर में अकेली खड़ी है.

9 And if the Lord of Sabaoth had not left us a seed, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been made like Gomorrha.

यदि सर्वशक्तिमान याहवेह ने हमें न बचाया होता, तो हम भी सोदोम और अमोराह के समान हो जाते.

10 Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodoma; attend to the law of God, you people of Gomorrha.

सोदोम के शासको, याहवेह का वचन सुनो; अमोराह के लोगों! हमारे परमेश्वर के व्यवस्था-विधान पर ध्यान दो.

11 Of what [value] to me is the abundance of your sacrifices? says the Lord: I am full of whole burnt offerings of rams; and I delight not in the fat of lambs, and the blood of bulls and goats:

याहवेह कहता है, “तुम्हारे बहुत से मेल बलि मेरे किस काम के? तुम्हारे मेढ़ों की अग्निबलियां और पशुओं की चर्बी; और बैलों, मेमनों और बकरों के रक्त से मैं खुश नहीं होता.

12 neither shall you come [with these] to appear before me; for who has required these things at your hands? You shall no more tread my court.

जब तुम मेरे सामने आते हो, तो तुम किस अधिकार से, मेरे आंगनों में चलते हो?

13 Though you bring fine flour, [it is] vain; incense is an abomination to me; I can’t bear your new moons, and your sabbaths, and the great day;

अब मुझे अन्‍नबलि न चढ़ाना और धूप से नये चांद. विश्राम दिन और सभाओं का आयोजन मुझे अच्छा नहीं लगता.

14 [your] fasting, and rest from work, your new moons also, and your feasts my soul hates: you have become loathsome to me; I will no more pardon your sins.

नफरत है मुझे तुम्हारे नये चांद पर्वों तथा वार्षिक उत्सवों से. बोझ बन गए हैं ये मेरे लिए; थक गया हूं मैं इन्हें सहते सहते.

15 When you stretch forth your hands, I will turn away mine eyes from you: and though you make many supplications, I will not listen to you; for your hands are full of blood.

तब जब तुम प्रार्थना में मेरी ओर अपने हाथ फैलाओगे, मैं तुमसे अपना मुंह छिपा लूंगा; चाहे तुम कितनी भी प्रार्थनाएं करते रहो, मैं उन्हें नहीं सुनूंगा. “क्योंकि तुम्हारे हाथ खून से भरे हैं!

16 Wash you, be clean; remove your iniquities from your souls before mine eyes; cease from your iniquities;

“तुम अपने आपको शुद्ध करो. और मेरे सामने से अपने बुरे कामों को हटा दो; बुराई करना छोड़ दो.

17 learn to do well; diligently seek judgment, deliver him that is suffering wrong, plead for the orphan, and obtain justice for the widow.

अच्छा काम करना सीखो; दुखियों की सहायता करो. अनाथों की रक्षा करो; और विधवाओं को न्याय दिलवाओ.”

18 And come, let us reason together, says the Lord: and though your sins be as purple, I will make them white as snow; and though they be as scarlet, I will make [them] white as wool.

याहवेह यों कहते हैं, “अब आओ, हम मिलकर इसका निष्कर्ष निकालें, चाहे तुम्हारे पाप लाल रंग के हों, वे हिम समान श्वेत हो जाएंगे; चाहे वे बैंगनी रंग के हों, तो भी वे ऊन के समान सफेद हो जाएंगे.

19 And if you be willing, and listen to me, you shall eat the good of the land:

यदि सच्चाई से मेरी बात मानोगे, तो इस देश की उत्तम से उत्तम चीज़ें खा पाओगे;

20 but if you be not willing, nor listen to me, a sword shall devour you: for the mouth of the Lord has spoken this.

और यदि तुम विरोध करो और बात न मानोगे, तो तलवार से मार दिये जाओगे.” यह याहवेह का यही वचन है!

21 How has the faithful city Sion, [once] full of judgment, become a harlot! wherein righteousness lodged, but now murderers.

वह नगर जिसमें सत्य, न्याय और धार्मिकता पाई जाती है, उसमें व्यभिचार कैसे बढ़ गया!

22 Your silver is worthless, your wine merchants mix the wine with water.

तुम्हारी चांदी में मिलावट है, और तुम्हारे दाखरस में पानी मिला दिया गया है.

23 Your princes are rebellious, companions of thieves, loving bribes, seeking after rewards; not pleading for orphans, and not heeding the cause of widows.

राज्य करनेवाले विद्रोही, और चोरों के मित्र हैं; सब घूस लेते हैं और लालची हैं. वे अनाथों की रक्षा नहीं करते; और न विधवाओं को न्याय दिलाते हैं.

24 Therefore thus says the Lord, the Lord of hosts, Woe to the mighty [men] of Israel; for my wrath shall not cease against mine adversaries, and I will execute judgment on mine enemies.

अतः इस्राएल के सर्वशक्तिमान, प्रभु सर्वशक्तिमान याहवेह कहते हैं: “मैं अपने बैरियों से बदला लूंगा.

25 And I will bring my hand upon you, and purge you completely, and I will destroy the rebellious, and will take away from you all transgressors.

मैं तुम्हारे विरुद्ध अपना हाथ उठाऊंगा; मैं तुम्हारे धातु की गंदगी को दूर कर दूंगा और उसमें जो मिलावट है उसे दूर करूंगा.

26 And I will establish your judges as before, and your counselors as at the beginning: and afterward you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful mother-city of Sion.

मैं फिर से न्यायी और मंत्री बनाऊंगा और उनको उनका पद दूंगा. फिर इस नगर में कोई कमी नहीं होगी.”

27 For her captives shall be saved with judgment, and with mercy.

ज़ियोन को न्याय से, और जो अपने आपको बदलेगा वे धर्म से छुड़ा लिये जायेंगे.

28 And the transgressors and the sinners shall be crushed together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be utterly consumed.

लेकिन विद्रोहियों और पापियों को एक साथ नष्ट कर दिया जाएगा, जिन्होंने याहवेह को त्याग दिया है.

29 For they shall be ashamed of their idols, which they delighted in, and they are made ashamed of the gardens which they coveted.

“वे उन बांज वृक्षों से, जिनकी तुम चाह रखते थे लज्जित हो जाएंगे; और जिन क्यारियों में मेहनत करके खुश होते थे अब उसी से लज्जित होना पड़ेगा.

30 For they shall be as a turpentine tree that has cast its leaves, and as a garden that has no water.

तुम उस बांज वृक्ष के समान हो जाओगे जिसके पत्ते सूख गए हैं, और सूखी क्यारियां जिसमें पानी नहीं पिलाया गया हो.

31 And their strength shall be as a thread of tow, and their works as sparks, and the transgressors and the sinners shall be burnt up together, and there shall be none to quench [them].

बलवान व्यक्ति आग और उसका काम चिंगारी होगा; और वे एक साथ जल जायेंगे, और कोई उन्हें बचा नहीं पाएगा.”
