Aggaeus 1
1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first [day] of the month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of the prophet Aggaeus, saying, Speak to Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, of the tribe of Juda, and to Jesus the son of Josedec, the high priest, saying,
En el segundo año del rey Darío, en el sexto mes, en el primer día del mes, llegó la palabra de Yahvé por medio del profeta Ageo, a Zorobabel hijo de Salatiel, gobernador de Judá, y a Josué hijo de Josadac, sumo sacerdote, diciendo:
2 Thus says the Lord Almighty, saying, This people say, The time is not come to build the house of the Lord.
“Esto es lo que dice Yahvé de los Ejércitos: Esta gente dice: ‘Todavía no ha llegado el momento de construir la casa de Yahvé’”.
3 And the word of the Lord came by the hand of the prophet Aggaeus, saying,
Entonces vino la palabra de Yahvé por medio del profeta Hageo, diciendo:
4 Is it time for you to dwell in your ceiled houses, whereas our house is desolate?
“¿Es tiempo de que ustedes mismos habiten en sus casas con paneles, mientras esta casa está en ruinas?
5 And now thus says the Lord Almighty; Consider your ways, I pray you.
Ahora bien, esto es lo que dice el Señor de los Ejércitos: ‘Consideren sus caminos.
6 You have sown much, but brought in little; you have eaten, and are not satisfied; you have drunk, and are not satisfied with drink, you have clothed yourselves, and have not become warm thereby: and he that earns wages has gathered [them] into a bag full of holes.
Habéis sembrado mucho, y recogéis poco. Comes, pero no tienes suficiente. Bebéis, pero no os saciáis. Os vestís, pero nadie se calienta; y el que gana un salario lo mete en un saco agujereado’.
7 Thus says the Lord Almighty; Consider your ways.
“Esto es lo que dice el Señor de los Ejércitos: ‘Considera tus caminos.
8 Go up to the mountain, and cut timber; build the house, and I will take pleasure in it, and be glorified, says the Lord.
Sube al monte, trae madera y construye la casa. Me complaceré en ella, y seré glorificado”, dice el Señor.
9 You looked for much, and there came little; and it was brought into the house, and I blew it away. Therefore thus says the Lord Almighty, Because my house is desolate, and you run everyone into his own house;
“Ustedes buscaron mucho, y he aquí que se quedó en poco; y cuando lo trajeron a casa, lo hice volar. ¿Por qué?” dice Yahvé de los Ejércitos, “Por causa de mi casa que yace en ruinas, mientras cada uno de ustedes está ocupado con su propia casa.
10 therefore shall the sky withhold dew, and the earth shall keep back her produce.
Por eso, por causa de ustedes, los cielos retienen el rocío, y la tierra retiene sus frutos.
11 And I will bring a sword upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the wine, and upon the oil, and all that the earth produces, and upon the men, and upon the cattle, and upon all the labors of their hands.
He llamado a la sequía sobre la tierra, sobre los montes, sobre el grano, sobre el vino nuevo, sobre el aceite, sobre lo que produce la tierra, sobre los hombres, sobre el ganado y sobre todo el trabajo de las manos.”
12 And Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, of the tribe of Juda, and Jesus the son of Josedec, the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, listened to the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of the prophet Aggaeus, according as the Lord their God had sent him to them, and the people feared before the Lord.
Entonces Zorobabel, hijo de Salatiel, y Josué, hijo de Josadac, el sumo sacerdote, con todo el resto del pueblo, obedecieron la voz de Yahvé, su Dios, y las palabras del profeta Hageo, como lo había enviado Yahvé, su Dios; y el pueblo temió a Yahvé.
13 And Aggaeus the Lord's messenger spoke among the messengers of the Lord to the people, [saying], I am with you, says the Lord.
Entonces Hageo, el mensajero de Yahvé, dirigió al pueblo el mensaje de Yahvé, diciendo: “Yo estoy con ustedes, dice Yahvé.
14 And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, of the tribe of Juda, and the spirit of Jesus the son of Josedec, the high priest, and the spirit of the remnant of all the people; and they went in, and wrought in the house of the Lord Almighty their God,
Yahvé despertó el espíritu de Zorobabel hijo de Salatiel, gobernador de Judá, y el espíritu de Josué hijo de Josadac, sumo sacerdote, y el espíritu de todo el resto del pueblo; y vinieron y trabajaron en la casa de Yahvé de los Ejércitos, su Dios,
15 on the four and twentieth [day] of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
en el día veinticuatro del mes, en el sexto mes, en el segundo año del rey Darío.
