Aggaeus 1
1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, on the first [day] of the month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of the prophet Aggaeus, saying, Speak to Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, of the tribe of Juda, and to Jesus the son of Josedec, the high priest, saying,
Im zweiten Jahr des Königs Darius, im sechsten Monat, am ersten Tag des Monats geschah das Wort Jehovahs durch die Hand Chaggais, des Propheten, an Serubbabel, den Sohn Schealthiels, den Statthalter Jehudahs, und an Jehoschua, den Sohn Jehozadaks, den Hohenpriester, und sprach:
2 Thus says the Lord Almighty, saying, This people say, The time is not come to build the house of the Lord.
So spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen und sagt: Dies Volk spricht: Die Zeit ist nicht gekommen, die Zeit, Jehovahs Haus zu bauen.
3 And the word of the Lord came by the hand of the prophet Aggaeus, saying,
Und es geschah Jehovahs Wort durch die Hand Chaggais, des Propheten, und sprach:
4 Is it time for you to dwell in your ceiled houses, whereas our house is desolate?
Ist die Zeit da für euch, daß ihr in euren getäfelten Häusern sitzet und dieses Haus ist verödet?
5 And now thus says the Lord Almighty; Consider your ways, I pray you.
Nun aber spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen also: Richtet euer Herz auf eure Wege!
6 You have sown much, but brought in little; you have eaten, and are not satisfied; you have drunk, and are not satisfied with drink, you have clothed yourselves, and have not become warm thereby: and he that earns wages has gathered [them] into a bag full of holes.
Ihr sät viel und bringt wenig herein. Ihr esset, und nicht zur Sättigung; ihr trinkt, und nicht zur Trunkenheit, ihr kleidet euch und werdet nicht warm; und was ihr verdient, verdient ihr in einen löchrigen Beutel.
7 Thus says the Lord Almighty; Consider your ways.
So spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen: Richtet euer Herz auf eure Wege!
8 Go up to the mountain, and cut timber; build the house, and I will take pleasure in it, and be glorified, says the Lord.
Steigt auf den Berg und bringt Holz herein und baut das Haus, daß Ich daran Wohlgefallen habe und verherrlicht werde! spricht Jehovah.
9 You looked for much, and there came little; and it was brought into the house, and I blew it away. Therefore thus says the Lord Almighty, Because my house is desolate, and you run everyone into his own house;
Ihr wandtet euch auf viel, und siehe, es ward zu wenig; und ihr brachtet es zum Haus herein, und Ich blies darein. Warum? spricht Jehovah der Heerscharen. Um Meines Hauses willen, das verödet ist, und ihr laufet, jeder Mann nach seinem Haus.
10 therefore shall the sky withhold dew, and the earth shall keep back her produce.
Darum verhalten die Himmel euch den Tau, und die Erde verhält ihr Gewächs.
11 And I will bring a sword upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the wine, and upon the oil, and all that the earth produces, and upon the men, and upon the cattle, and upon all the labors of their hands.
Und Ich rief die Dürre über die Erde und über die Berge und über das Korn und über den Most und über das Öl und über das, was der Boden hervorbringt, und über Mensch, über Vieh, und über alle Arbeit der Hände.
12 And Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, of the tribe of Juda, and Jesus the son of Josedec, the high priest, and all the remnant of the people, listened to the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of the prophet Aggaeus, according as the Lord their God had sent him to them, and the people feared before the Lord.
Und Serubbabel, der Sohn Schealthiels, und Jehoschua, der Sohn Jehozadaks, der Hohepriester, und all der Überrest des Volkes hörten auf die Stimme Jehovahs, ihres Gottes, und auf die Worte Chaggais, des Propheten, wie ihn Jehovah, ihr Gott, hatte gesandt; und das Volk fürchtete sich vor dem Angesichte Jehovahs.
13 And Aggaeus the Lord's messenger spoke among the messengers of the Lord to the people, [saying], I am with you, says the Lord.
Und Chaggai, der Bote Jehovahs, sprach in der Botschaft Jehovahs zum Volk und sagte: Ich bin mit euch, spricht Jehovah.
14 And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, of the tribe of Juda, and the spirit of Jesus the son of Josedec, the high priest, and the spirit of the remnant of all the people; and they went in, and wrought in the house of the Lord Almighty their God,
Und Jehovah erregte den Geist Serubbabels, des Sohns Schealthiels, des Statthalters Jehudahs, und den Geist Jehoschuas, des Sohnes Jehozadaks, des Hohenpriesters, und den Geist all des Überrests vom Volk; und sie kamen und taten das Werk am Hause Jehovahs der Heerscharen, ihres Gottes,
15 on the four and twentieth [day] of the sixth month, in the second year of Darius the king.
Am vierundzwanzigsten Tag des Monats im sechsten im zweiten Jahr des Königs Darius.
