< Ambacum 1 >

1 The burden which the prophet Ambacum saw.
Ko e tala mamafa ʻaia naʻe mamata ki ai ʻae palōfita ko Hapakuki.
2 How long, O Lord, shall I cry out, and you will not listen? [how long] shall I cry out to you being injured, and you will not save?
‌ʻE Sihova, ʻe fēfē hono fuoloa ʻo ʻeku tangi, kae ʻikai te ke fanongo! ʻIo, ʻa ʻeku tangi kalanga kiate koe, koeʻuhi ko e fakamālohi, kae ʻikai te ke fakamoʻui!
3 Therefore have you shown me troubles and griefs to look upon, misery and ungodliness? judgment is before me, and the judge receives a reward.
Ko e hā ʻoku ke fakahā ai kiate au ʻae angahala, pea pule ke u mamata ki he mamahi? He ʻoku ʻi hoku ʻao ʻae maumau mo e fakamālohi: pea ʻoku ai ʻaia ʻoku fakatupu ʻae fekeʻikeʻi, mo e fakakikihi.
4 Therefore the law is frustrated, and judgment proceeds not effectually, for the ungodly [man] prevails over the just; therefore perverse judgment will proceed.
Ko ia ʻoku vaivai ai ʻae fono, pea ʻoku ʻikai ʻaupito ke ʻalu atu ʻae fakamaau: he kuo kāpui ʻae māʻoniʻoni ʻe he angahala; ko ia kuo ʻalu atu ai ʻae fakamaau taʻetotonu.
5 Behold, you despisers, and look, and wonder marvelously, and vanish: for I work a work in your days, which you will in no wise believe, though a man declare [it to you].
“Vakai, ʻakimoutolu ʻi he ngaahi hiteni, pea tokanga, mo ofo lahi: he te u fai ha ngāue ʻi homou ngaahi ʻaho, ʻe ʻikai te mou tui ki ai, ʻo kapau ʻe tala ia kiate kimoutolu.
6 Therefore, behold, I stir up the Chaldeans, the bitter and hasty nation, that walks upon the breadth of the earth, to inherit tabernacles not his own.
He vakai, ʻoku ou fokotuʻu hake ʻae kakai Kalitia, ko e puleʻanga fakaʻita mo fakatoʻotoʻo, ʻaia ʻe ʻalu atu ki he māukupu ʻoe fonua, ke maʻu ʻae ngaahi potu nofoʻanga ʻoku ʻikai ʻonautolu.
7 He is terrible and famous; his judgment shall proceed of himself, and his dignity shall come out of himself.
‌ʻOku fakailifia mo fakamanavahē ʻakinautolu: ko ʻenau fakamaau mo e nāunau ʻe ʻalu atu ʻiate kinautolu.
8 And his horses shall bound [more swiftly] than leopards, and [they are] fiercer than the wolves of Arabia: and his horsemen shall ride forth, and shall rush from far; and they shall fly as an eagle hasting to eat.
‌ʻOku veʻe vave foki ʻa ʻenau fanga hoosi ʻi he fanga lēpati, pea ʻoku fekai ʻi he fanga ulofi ʻoe efiafi: pea ko honau kau tangata heka hoosi, ʻe mafola ʻakinautolu, pea ʻe haʻu ʻakinautolu mei he mamaʻo: te nau puna ʻo hangē ko e ʻikale ʻoku fakavave ke kai.
9 Destruction shall come upon ungodly men, resisting with their adverse front, and he shall gather the captivity as the sand.
‌ʻE haʻu ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ko e fakamālohi: ʻe kokomo hake ʻe honau mata, ʻo hangē ko e matangi hahake, pea te nau tānaki ʻae pōpula, ʻo hangē ko e ʻoneʻone.
10 And he shall be at his ease with kings, and princes are his toys, and he shall mock at every strong-hold, and shall cast a mound, and take possession of it.
Pea te nau manuki ki he ngaahi tuʻi, pea ʻe hoko ʻae houʻeiki ko e manukiʻanga kiate kinautolu: te nau taukaea ʻae ngaahi potu mālohi kotoa pē; he te nau fokotuʻu hake ʻae kelekele, ʻo maʻu ia.
11 Then shall he change his spirit, and he shall pass through, and make an atonement, [saying], This strength [belongs] to my god.
Pea ʻe toki liliu ai hono loto, pea te ne ʻalu atu, mo fai talangataʻa, ʻo tuki hono mālohi ni ki hono ʻotua.”
12 [Are] not you from the beginning, O Lord God, my Holy One? and surely we shall not die. O Lord, you have established it for judgment, and he has formed me to chasten [with] his correction.
ʻIkai ʻoku ke talu mei muʻa koe, ʻE Sihova, ko hoku ʻOtua, ko ʻeku tokotaha māʻoniʻoni? ʻE ʻikai te mau mate. ʻE Sihova, kuo ke tuʻutuʻuni ʻakinautolu maʻa e fakamaau; pea kuo ke fokotuʻu ʻakinautolu maʻa e tautea, ʻE ʻOtua māfimafi.
13 [His] eye is too pure to behold evil [doings], and to look upon grievous afflictions: therefore do you look upon despisers? will you be silent when the ungodly swallows up the just?
‌ʻOku ke fofonga māʻoniʻoni fau ʻā koe, pea ʻikai ai te ke faʻa ʻafio ki he kovi, pea ʻoku ʻikai te ke faʻa sio ki he angahala: ko e hā ʻoku ke ʻafio ai kiate kinautolu ʻoku fai kākā, pea ke longo pe, ka ʻoku fakaʻauha ʻe he angahala ʻaia ʻoku māʻoniʻoni hake ʻiate ia?
14 And will you make men as the fishes of the sea, and as the reptiles which have no guide?
Pea ʻoku ngaohi ʻae kakai ʻo hangē ko e ngaahi ika ʻoe tahi, mo tatau mo e ngaahi meʻa totolo, ʻoku ʻikai ha pule kiate kinautolu?
15 He has brought up destruction with a hook, and drawn one with a casting net, and caught another in his drags: therefore shall his heart rejoice and be glad.
‌ʻOku nau toʻo hake ʻakinautolu kotoa pē ʻi he mātaʻu, ʻoku nau moʻua ʻakinautolu ʻi honau kupenga, mo tānaki ʻakinautolu ʻi honau kupenga toho, ko ia ʻoku nau fiefia mo nekeneka ai.
16 Therefore will he sacrifice to his drag, and burn incense to his casting-net, because by them he has made his portion fat, and his meats choice.
Ko ia ʻoku nau feilaulau ki honau kupenga, mo feilaulau tutu ki honau kupenga toho; koeʻuhi ko e meʻa ʻiate kinautolu ʻoku momona ai honau ʻinasi, pea lahi ʻa ʻenau meʻakai.
17 Therefore will he cast his net, and will not spare to kill the nations continually.
Ko ia, ʻe ʻaʻau koā honau kupenga, pea ʻikai ʻaupito ha taʻofi ki he fakaʻauha ʻoe ngaahi puleʻanga?
