< Ambacum 1 >
1 The burden which the prophet Ambacum saw.
Pwofesi ke Habacuc, pwofèt la te wè.
2 How long, O Lord, shall I cry out, and you will not listen? [how long] shall I cry out to you being injured, and you will not save?
Pandan konbyen tan, O SENYÈ, mwen va kriye sekou e Ou pa tande? Mwen kriye a Ou menm, “Vyolans!” Men Ou pa delivre.
3 Therefore have you shown me troubles and griefs to look upon, misery and ungodliness? judgment is before me, and the judge receives a reward.
Poukisa Ou fè m wè inikite, e Ou gade sou tout mechanste yo? Wi, se destriksyon ak vyolans ki devan mwen; gwo konfli ak kont k ap leve toupatou.
4 Therefore the law is frustrated, and judgment proceeds not effectually, for the ungodly [man] prevails over the just; therefore perverse judgment will proceed.
Akoz sa, yo vin pa okipe yo de lalwa e jistis la pa janm avanse. Paske mechan yo vin antoure moun ladwati yo. Lajistis tòde nèt.
5 Behold, you despisers, and look, and wonder marvelously, and vanish: for I work a work in your days, which you will in no wise believe, though a man declare [it to you].
“Gade pami nasyon yo! Obsève byen! Se pou nou vin sezi e menm etone! Paske Mwen ap fè nan jou pa w yo, yon bagay ke ou pa t ap kwè, malgre ke ou ta tande l.
6 Therefore, behold, I stir up the Chaldeans, the bitter and hasty nation, that walks upon the breadth of the earth, to inherit tabernacles not his own.
Paske, gade byen, Mwen ap leve Kaldeyen yo, pèp fewòs e san kontwòl sa a, k ap mache sou tout tè a pou sezi kote ki pa pou yo.
7 He is terrible and famous; his judgment shall proceed of himself, and his dignity shall come out of himself.
Yo plen tout moun ak gwo laperèz, ak lakrent. Jistis ak otorite pa yo sòti sèl nan yo menm.
8 And his horses shall bound [more swiftly] than leopards, and [they are] fiercer than the wolves of Arabia: and his horsemen shall ride forth, and shall rush from far; and they shall fly as an eagle hasting to eat.
Chevalye yo pi vit ke leyopa, e pi vijilan ke lou lannwit. Chevalye yo vin galope. Chevalye yo sòti lwen. Yo vole tankou èg k ap plonje desann pou devore.
9 Destruction shall come upon ungodly men, resisting with their adverse front, and he shall gather the captivity as the sand.
Yo tout vini pou fè vyolans. Nan rega pa yo se an avan. Yo ranmase kaptif tankou sab.
10 And he shall be at his ease with kings, and princes are his toys, and he shall mock at every strong-hold, and shall cast a mound, and take possession of it.
Yo giyonnen wa yo e yo moke gouvènè yo. Yo pase tout bastyon yo nan tenten. Yo sanble ranblè tè yo e yo sezi yo.
11 Then shall he change his spirit, and he shall pass through, and make an atonement, [saying], This strength [belongs] to my god.
Tankou van yo va vole pase, pou yo ale nèt. Yo vrèman koupab; yo mete fòs yo nan dye pa yo a.”
12 [Are] not you from the beginning, O Lord God, my Holy One? and surely we shall not die. O Lord, you have established it for judgment, and he has formed me to chasten [with] his correction.
Èske se pa nan letènite Ou sòti, O SENYÈ, Bondye mwen an, (Sila) Ki Sen mwen an? Nou p ap mouri. Ou menm, O SENYÈ, Ou te dezinye yo pou jijman an. Ou menm, O Woche a, Ou te etabli yo pou pinisyon.
13 [His] eye is too pure to behold evil [doings], and to look upon grievous afflictions: therefore do you look upon despisers? will you be silent when the ungodly swallows up the just?
Zye Ou twò pafè pou gade mal, e Ou pa ka menm gade mechanste. Poukisa Ou sipòte (sila) ki trèt yo? Poukisa Ou rete an silans pandan mechan yo ap vale (sila) ki pi jis pase yo?
14 And will you make men as the fishes of the sea, and as the reptiles which have no guide?
Poukisa kite yo fè lòm tankou pwason lanmè, tankou (sila) k ap trennen atè ki pa gen gouvènè sou yo?
15 He has brought up destruction with a hook, and drawn one with a casting net, and caught another in his drags: therefore shall his heart rejoice and be glad.
Pou Kaldeyen yo, yo rale yo fè yo tout monte ak yon zen. Yo rale pote yo ale ak pèlen, e ranmase yo ansanm nan filè pwason. Se konsa y ap rejwi e fè kè kontan.
16 Therefore will he sacrifice to his drag, and burn incense to his casting-net, because by them he has made his portion fat, and his meats choice.
Tout sa, akoz yo ofri yon sakrifis a filè yo; yo brile lansan nan filè a; paske pa bagay sa yo, lavi a vin bon, e manje yo vin anpil.
17 Therefore will he cast his net, and will not spare to kill the nations continually.
Èske se konsa yap kontinye vide filè yo, e kontinye detwi nasyon yo san mizerikòd?
