< Jezekiel 16 >

1 Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying,
Naʻe toe hoko ʻae folofola ʻa Sihova kiate au, ʻo pehē,
2 Son of man, testify to Jerusalem [of] her iniquities;
“Foha ʻoe tangata, fakaʻilo ki Selūsalema ʻa ʻene ngaahi fakalielia,
3 and you shall say, Thus says the Lord to Jerusalem; Your root and your birth are of the land of Chanaan: your father was an Amorite, and your mother a Chettite.
Pea ke lea, ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua ki Selūsalema; naʻe fanauʻi pea fāʻeleʻi koe ʻi he fonua ko Kēnani; ko hoʻo tamai ko e [tangata ]ʻAmoli, pea ko hoʻo faʻē ko e [fefine ]Heti.
4 And [as for] your birth in the day wherein you were born, you did not bind your breasts, and you were not washed in water, neither was you salted with salt, neither was you swathed in swaddling-bands.
Pea koeʻuhi ko ho fāʻeleʻi, ʻi he ʻaho naʻe fanauʻi ai koe naʻe ʻikai tā ho uho, pea naʻe ʻikai kaukau koe ʻi ha vai, ke fakamolū koe; naʻe ʻikai ngaohi ʻaki koe ha māsima, pea naʻe ʻikai ʻaupito fakakofu koe.
5 Nor did mine eye pity you, to do for you one of all these things, to feel at all for you; but you were cast out on the face of the field, because of the deformity of your person, in the day wherein you were born.
Naʻe ʻikai ha mata ke ʻofa kiate koe ke fai ʻae ngaahi meʻa ni kiate koe pe manavaʻofa kiate koe; ka naʻe lī atu koe ki he vao ʻataʻatā, ke fakalielia ho sino ʻi he ʻaho naʻe fāʻeleʻi ai koe.
6 And I passed by to you, and saw you polluted in your blood; and I said to you, [Let there be] life out of your blood:
“Pea ʻi heʻeku ʻalu atu kiate koe pea u mamata naʻa ke fakalielia ʻi ho toto pe ʻoʻou, ne u pehē kiate koe, lolotonga hoʻo kei pani toto, Ke ke moʻui; ʻio, naʻa ke kei ʻi ho toto ʻoʻou, naʻaku pehē ai kiate koe, Ke ke moʻui.
7 increase; I have made you as the springing grass of the field. So you did increase and grow, and did enter into great cities: your breasts were set, and your hair grew, whereas you were naked and bare.
Kuo u ngaohi koe ke ke tupu ʻo hangē ko e fisi ʻoe ngoue, pea kuo ke tupu pea hoko ko e lahi, pea kuo ke maʻu ʻae teunga ki he teunga; kuo hunuki ho huhu, pea kuo tupu ho fulufulu, ka naʻa ke telefua mo masiva.
8 And I passed by you and saw you, and, behold, [it was] your time and a time of resting; and I spread my wings over you, and covered your shame, and swear to you: and I entered into covenant with you, says the Lord, and you became mine.
Pea ko eni, ʻi heʻeku ʻalu atu kiate koe, vakai, ko e lolotonga ia ʻa hoʻo ʻofa; pea naʻaku folahi atu kiate koe ʻa hoku kofu mo fakakofuʻaki ʻa hoʻo telefua; ʻio, naʻaku fuakava kiate koe, pea naʻa ta fefuakavaʻaki mo koe,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, “pea naʻaku maʻu koe maʻaku.”
9 And I washed you in water, and washed your blood from you, and anointed you with oil.
“Pea u toki kaukau koe ʻaki ʻae vai, ne u fufulu koe ke maʻa ʻaupito mei he toto, pea naʻaku tākai koe ʻaki ʻae lolo.
10 And I clothed you with embroidered [garments], and clothed you beneath with purple, and girded you with fine linen, and clothed you with silk,
Naʻaku fakakofuʻaki koe ʻae tuitui fakasanisani, pea u fakatopuvaʻe ʻaki koe ʻae kiliʻi pasa; pea u fakavala ʻaki koe ʻae tupenu lelei, pea naʻaku ʻufiʻufi koe ʻaki ʻae silika.
11 and decked you also with ornaments, and put bracelets on your hands, and a necklace on your neck.
Naʻaku ʻai foki kiate koe ʻae ngaahi meʻa teunga, pea naʻaku ʻai ʻae vesa ki ho nima, mo e kahoa ki ho kia.
12 And I put a pendant on your nostril, and rings in your ears, and a crown of glory on your head.
Pea naʻaku ʻai ʻae maka mahuʻinga ʻi ho foʻi laʻē, mo e mama ʻi ho telinga, mo e pale lelei ki ho ʻulu.
13 So you were adorned with gold and silver; and your raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and variegated work: you did eat fine flour, and oil, and honey, and did become extremely beautiful.
Naʻe pehē ʻae teuteu ʻaki koe ʻae koula mo e siliva; naʻe kofuʻaki koe ʻae tupenu lelei mo e silika, mo e tuitui fakasanisani; naʻa ke kai ʻi he mahoaʻa lelei mo e honi, mo e lolo: pea naʻa ke hoihoifua ʻaupito pea naʻa ke tupu lelei ʻo hoko ko e puleʻanga.
14 And your name went forth among the nations for your beauty: because it was perfected with elegance, [and] in the comeliness which I put upon you, says the Lord.
Naʻe mafola atu ho ongoongolelei ki he hiteni ko e meʻa ʻi ho hoihoifua, he naʻe haohaoa ia, ko e meʻa ʻi heʻeku lelei ʻaia naʻaku ʻai ʻeau kiate koe,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua.
15 You did trust in your beauty, and did go a-whoring because of your renown, and did pour out your fornication on every passer by.
“Ka naʻa ke falala koe ki ho hoihoifua, pea naʻa ke fai feʻauaki, ko e meʻa ʻi ho ongoongo, naʻa ke fai hoʻo feʻauaki kiate ia kotoa pē naʻe ʻalu ange; naʻe ʻaʻana pe ia.
16 And you did take of your garments, and made to yourself idols of needlework, and did go a-whoring after them; therefore you shall never come in, nor shall [the like] take place.
Pea naʻa ke toʻo ho ngaahi kofu pea ne ke teuteu ʻaki ia ho ngaahi potu māʻolunga ʻi he meʻa pule kehekehe, pea naʻa ke fai feʻauaki ʻi ai: pea ʻe ʻikai toe hoko ha meʻa pehē; ʻe ʻikai ʻaupito pehē.
17 And you took your fair ornaments of my gold and of my silver, of what I gave you, and you made to yourself male images, and you did commit whoredom with them.
Pea kuo ke toʻo ʻae ngaahi teunga lelei ʻo ʻeku koula mo ʻeku siliva, ʻaia naʻaku foaki kiate koe, mo ke ngaohi kiate koe ʻae ngaahi fakatātā ʻoe tangata, pea kuo ke fai angahala mo ia.
18 And you did take your variegated apparel and did clothe them, and you did set before them mine oil and mine incense.
Kuo ke fakakofuʻaki ʻakinautolu ho ngaahi kofu fakasanisani: pea kuo ke tuku ʻi honau ʻao ʻa ʻeku lolo mo e meʻa namu kakala ʻaʻaku.
19 And [you took] my bread which I gave you, ([yes] I fed you with fine flour and oil and honey) and did set them before them for a sweet smelling savor: yes, it was so, says the Lord.
Ko ʻeku meʻakai foki, ʻaia naʻaku foaki kiate koe, ʻae mahoaʻa lelei, mo e lolo mo e honi, naʻaku fafanga ʻaki koe, naʻa mo ia kuo ke tuku ʻi honau ʻao, ko e meʻa namu kakala.” ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, naʻe pehē ʻa hono fai.
20 And you took your sons and your daughters, whom you bore, and did sacrifice [these] to them to be destroyed. You did go a-whoring as [if that were] little,
“Kuo ke toʻo foki hoʻo ngaahi tama mo hoʻo ngaahi taʻahine ʻaia kuo ke fanauʻi kiate au, pea kuo ke feilaulau ʻaki ʻakinautolu ke nau ʻauha. Ko e meʻa siʻi koā eni, ʻa hoʻo feʻauaki?
21 and did kill your children, and gave them up in offering them to them for an expiation.
Kaeʻumaʻā ʻa hoʻo tāmateʻi ʻeku fānau, mo ke tuku ʻakinautolu ke ʻalu atu [ʻi he afi ]maʻanautolu?
22 This is beyond all your fornication, and you did not remember your infancy, when you were naked and bare, [and] did live [though] defiled in your blood.
23 And it came to pass after all your wickedness, says the Lord,
Pea naʻe hoko ʻo pehē, “ʻi heʻene hili kotoa pē ʻa hoʻo fai kovi, (Malaʻia, malaʻia kiate koe! ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua; )
24 that you did build yourself a house of fornication, and did make yourself a public place in every street;
Kuo ke langa moʻou ʻae fale feʻauaki mo ke ngaohi kiate koe ʻae potu māʻolunga ʻi he hala kotoa pē.
25 and on the head of every way you did set up your fornications, and did defile your beauty, and did open your feet to every passer by, and did multiply your fornication.
Kuo ke langa ho fale feʻauaki ʻi he tefito hala kotoa pē pea kuo ke ngaohi ho hoihoifua ko e fehiʻanekina, mo ke fakaava ho vaʻe kiate ia kotoa pē naʻe ʻalu ange mo ke fakalahi pe ki hoʻo feʻauaki.
26 And you did go a-whoring after the children of Egypt your neighbors, great of flesh; and did go a-whoring, often to provoke me to anger.
Kuo ke fai angahala foki mo ho kaunga nofoʻanga, ko e kakai ʻIsipite ʻoku sino lalahi: pea kuo ke fakalahi ki hoʻo feʻauaki, ko e fakatupu ʻita kiate au.
27 And if I stretch out my hand against you, then will I abolish your statutes, and deliver [you] up to the wills of them that hate you, [even to] the daughters of the Philistines that turned you aside from the way wherein you sinned.
Ko ia, vakai, kuo u mafao atu hoku nima kiate koe, pea u fakasiʻisiʻi hoʻo meʻakai, mo tukuange koe ki he faʻiteliha ʻanautolu ʻoku fehiʻa kiate koe, ʻae ngaahi ʻofefine ʻoe kau Filisitia, he ʻoku nau mā ʻi hoʻo faianga fakalielia.
28 And you did go a-whoring to the daughters of Assur, and not even thus was you satisfied; yes, you did go a-whoring, and was not satisfied.
Kuo ke fai angahala foki mo e kakai ʻAsilia, he naʻe ʻikai te ke faʻa fiu; ʻio, kuo ke fai angahala mo kinautolu, ka naʻe ʻikai te ke topono ai.
29 And you did multiply your covenants with the land of the Chaldeans; and not even with these was you satisfied.
Kuo ke fakalahi foki ʻa hoʻo feʻauaki ʻi he fonua ko Kēnani ʻo aʻu ki Kalitia; ka naʻa mo ia naʻe ʻikai te ke fiu ai.”
30 Why should I make a covenant with your daughter, says the Lord, while you do all these things, the works of a harlot? and you have gone a-whoring in a threefold degree with your daughters.
“ʻOiauē! ʻAe vaivai ho loto,” ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, “He kuo ke fai eni kotoa pē, ko e ngāue ʻae fefine faʻa feʻauaki mo fakamofutofuta;
31 You have built a house of harlotry in every top of a way, and have set up your high place in every street; and you did become as a harlot gathering hires.
Pea ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻo langa ha fale feʻauaki ʻi he tefito hala kotoa pē, pea ngaohi ho potu māʻolunga ʻi he hala kotoa pē, pea ʻoku ʻikai te ke tatau mo e fefine feʻauaki ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻo fehiʻa ki he totongi;
32 An adulteress resembles you, taking rewards of her husband.
Kae hangē ko e uaifi ʻoku tono tangata ʻoku maʻu ʻae kakai kehe ko e fetongi ʻa hono husepāniti!
33 She has even given rewards to all that went a-whoring after her, and you have given rewards to all your lovers, yes, you did load them with rewards, that they should come to you from every side for your fornication.
‌ʻOku foaki totongi ki he kau fefine feʻauaki kotoa pē; ka ko koe kuo ke foaki meʻaʻofa ki ho kau mamana kotoa pē, pea ke totongi kiate kinautolu, ke nau haʻu kiate koe mei he potu kotoa pē ki hoʻo feʻauaki.
34 And there has happened in you perverseness in your fornication beyond [other] women, and they have committed fornication with you, in that you give hires over and above, and hires were not given to you; and [thus] perverseness happened in you.
Pea ʻoku ke fai kehe koe ʻi hoʻo fai angahala mo e fefine kehe, koeʻuhi ʻoku ʻikai muimui ha niʻihi kiate koe ke fai ʻae angahala; pea ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻo fai ʻe koe ʻae totongi, ka ʻoku ʻikai ha totongi ʻe fai kiate koe, ko ia ʻoku ke kehe ai.”
35 Therefore, harlot, hear the word of the Lord:
Ko ia, ʻe fefine feʻauaki, fanongo ki he folofola ʻa Sihova.
36 Thus says the Lord, Because you have poured forth your money, therefore your shame shall be discovered in your harlotry with your lovers, and [with] regard to all the imaginations of your iniquities, and for the blood of your children which you have given to them.
37 Therefore, behold, I [will] gather all your lovers with whom you have consorted, and all whom you have loved, with all whom you did hate; and I will gather them against you round about, and will expose your wickedness to them, and they shall see all your shame.
38 And I will be avenged on you with the vengeance of an adulteress, and I will bring upon you blood of fury and jealousy.
Pea te u fakamaauʻi koe, ʻo tatau mo e fakamaau ki he kau fefine ʻoku maumau ʻae fakamaʻu mali mo lilingi ʻae toto: pea te u fakainu ʻaki koe ʻae toto ʻi heʻeku houhau mo ʻeku fuaʻa.
39 And I will deliver you into their hands, and they shall break down your house of harlotry, and destroy your high place; and they shall strip you of your garments, and shall take your proud ornaments, and leave you naked and bare.
40 And they shall bring multitudes upon you, and they shall stone you with stones, and pierce you with their swords.
Pea te nau ʻomi mo e niʻihi kiate koe, pea te nau lisingi koe ʻaki ʻae maka, pea tui ʻaki koe ʻenau heletā ke ʻasi.
41 And they shall burn your houses with fire, and shall execute vengeance on you in the sight of many women: and I will turn you back from harlotry, and I will no more give [you] rewards.
Pea te nau tuungia ho ngaahi fale, mo nau fai ʻae tautea kiate koe ʻi he ʻao ʻoe kau fefine tokolahi: te u ngaohi koe ke ke tuku hoʻo feʻauaki, pea ʻe ʻikai ʻaupito te ke toe fai ha totongi.
42 So will I slacken my fury against you, and my jealousy shall be removed from you, and I will rest, and be no more careful [for you].
Ko ia ia ʻe lolou ai ʻa hoku houhau kiate koe, pea ʻe hiki hoku fuaʻa meiate koe, pea te u fiemālie, pea ʻe ʻikai te u toe ʻita.
43 Because you did not remember your infancy, and you did grieve me in all these things; therefore, behold, I have recompensed your ways upon your head, says the Lord: for thus have you wrought ungodliness above all your [other] iniquities.
Koeʻuhi ʻoku ʻikai te ke manatuʻi ʻae ngaahi ʻaho ʻo hoʻo kei siʻi, ka kuo ke fakamataliliʻi au ʻi he ngaahi meʻa ni kotoa pē, ko ia, vakai, te u fakahoko ki ho tumuʻaki hono nunuʻa ʻo hoʻo faianga, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua: pea ʻe ʻikai te ke fakalahi ʻaki hoʻo ngaahi fakalielia kotoa pē ʻa hoʻo fai ʻae fakalielia ko eni.”
44 These are all the things they have spoken against you in a proverb, saying,
“Vakai, ko kinautolu kotoa pē ʻoku faʻa lea ʻaki ʻae fakatātā te nau lea fakatātā kiate koe ʻo pehē, ‘ʻO hangē ko e faʻē, ʻoku pehē pe ʻene taʻahine.’
45 As is the mother, so is your mother's daughter: you are she that has rejected her husband and her children; and the sisters of your sisters have rejected their husbands and their children: your mother was a Chettite, and [your] father an Amorite.
Ko e taʻahine koe ʻa hoʻo faʻē, ʻaia ʻoku fehiʻa ki hono husepāniti mo ʻene fānau; pea ko e tehina koe ʻo ho ngaahi tokoua, ʻakinautolu naʻe fehiʻa ki honau husepāniti mo ʻenau fānau: ko hoʻo faʻē ko e [fefine ]Heti, pea ko hoʻo tamai ko e [tangata ]ʻAmoli ia.
46 Your elder sister who dwells on your left hand is Samaria, she and her daughters: and your younger sister, that dwells on the right hand, is Sodom and her daughters.
Pea ko ho taʻokete ko Samēlia ia, ʻaia mo ʻene fānau fefine, ʻoku nofo ʻi ho nima toʻohema: pea ko ho tehina, ʻaia ʻoku nofo ʻi ho nima toʻomataʻu, ko Sotoma ia mo ʻene fānau fefine.
47 Yet notwithstanding you have not walked in their ways, neither have you done according to their iniquities within a little, but you have exceeded them in all your ways.
Ka naʻe ʻikai te ke ʻeveʻeva koe ʻi honau hala, pe fai ʻo hangē ko ʻenau ngaahi fakalielia: kae hangē naʻe siʻi ʻaupito haʻanautolu, ka kuo ke fai fakalielia lahi hake ʻaupito koe ʻiate kinautolu, ʻi hoʻo anga kotoa pē.”
48 [As] I live, says the Lord, this Sodom and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters have done.
‌ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua, “ʻO hangē ʻoku ou moʻui, naʻe ʻikai fai ʻe ho tehina ko Sotoma, ʻa ia, pe ko ʻene fānau fefine, ʻo tatau mo ia kuo ke fai ʻe koe, ʻa koe, mo hoʻo kau taʻahine.
49 Moreover this was the sin of your sister Sodom, pride: she and her daughters lived in pleasure, in fullness of bread [and] in abundance: this belonged to her and her daughters, and they helped not the hand of the poor and needy.
Vakai, ko e fai hala eni ʻa ho tehina ko Sotoma, ko e fielahi, mo e fangapesi, mo e fakapikopiko lahi, naʻe ʻiate ia mo ʻene fānau fefine, pea naʻe ʻikai tokoni ʻe ia ki he nima ʻoe masiva mo e paea.
50 And they boasted, and wrought iniquities before me: so I cut them off as I saw [fit].
Pea naʻa nau fielahi, mo nau fai fakalielia ʻi hoku ʻao; ko ia naʻaku faʻiteliha pe au ʻo ʻave ai ʻakinautolu.
51 Also Samaria has not sinned according to half of your sins; but you have multiplied your iniquities beyond them, and you have justified your sisters in all your iniquities which you have committed.
Pea naʻa mo Samēlia, ʻoku ʻikai te ne fai hala ʻe ia ke tatau mo e vaeua haʻau; he kuo ke fakatupu hoʻo ngaahi fakalielia ke lahi hake ʻiate kinautolu, pea kuo tonuhia ange ʻiate koe, ʻa ho ngaahi tokoua, ʻi hoʻo ngaahi fakalielia, ʻaia kuo ke fai ʻe koe.
52 You therefore bear your punishment, for that you have corrupted your sisters by your sins which you have committed beyond them; and you have made them [appear] more righteous than yourself: you therefore be ashamed, and bear your dishonor, in that you have justified your sisters.
‌ʻA koe foki, kuo ke fakaanga ki ho ngaahi tokoua, fua pe ʻe koe, ʻa hoʻo mā ʻaʻau, ʻi hoʻo ngaahi angahala kuo ke fai fakalielia lahi ai ʻiate kinautolu: ʻoku nau māʻoniʻoni hake ʻiate koe: ʻio, ke ke puputuʻu koe, pea ke fua hoʻo mā, ko e meʻa ʻi hoʻo fakatonuhiaʻi ho ngaahi tokoua.
53 And I will turn their captivity, [even] the captivity of Sodom and her daughters; and I will turn the captivity of Samaria and her daughters; and I will turn your captivity in the midst of them:
‌ʻO kau ka toe ʻomi mei he pōpula, ʻae kau pōpula ʻo Sotoma mo ʻene fānau fefine, mo e pōpula ʻo Samēlia mo ʻene fānau fefine ʻaʻana, te u toki ʻomi ʻae pōpula ʻi hoʻo kau pōpula ki honau lotolotonga:
54 that you may bear your punishment, and be dishonored for all that you have done in provoking me to anger.
Koeʻuhi ke ke fua ʻe koe pe ʻa hoʻo mā, pea ke puputuʻu ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē kuo ke fai, koeʻuhi ko hoʻo fakafiemālieʻi ʻakinautolu.
55 And your sister Sodom and her daughters shall be restored as they were at the beginning, and you and your daughters shall be restored as you were at the beginning.
‌ʻOka toe liliu mai ʻa Sotoma mo ʻene fānau fefine ki heʻenau nofo muʻa, pea liliu ʻa Samēlia mo ʻene fānau fefine ki heʻenau muʻaki nofo, ʻe toki liliu ai koe mo hoʻo fānau fefine ki hoʻomou nofo muʻa ʻamoutolu.
56 And surely your sister Sodom was not mentioned by your mouth in the days of your pride:
He naʻe ʻikai te ke meimei lea ʻaki mei ho ngutu, ʻa ho taʻokete ko Samēlia, ʻi he ʻaho ʻo hoʻo fielahi,
57 before your wickedness was discovered, even now you are the reproach of the daughters of Syria, and of all that are round about her, [even] of the daughters of the Philistines that compass you round about.
‌ʻI he teʻeki ai fakahā hoʻo angakovi, ʻi he ngaahi ʻaho naʻe manukiʻi ai koe ʻe he ngaahi ʻofefine ʻo Silia mo kinautolu ʻoku nofo vāofi mo ia, ʻae ngaahi ʻofefine ʻoe kau Filisitia, ʻaia ʻoku manuki fano pe kiate koe.
58 [As for] your ungodliness and your iniquities, you have borne them, says the Lord.
Kuo ke fua hoʻo holi kovi mo hoʻo ngaahi fakalielia,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
59 Thus says the Lord; I will even do to you as you have done, as you have dealt shamefully in these things to transgress my covenant.
He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova ko e ʻOtua; “Te u fai kiate koe ʻo hangē ko ia kuo ke fai, ʻa koe, kuo ke manuki ki heʻeta tuki, mo ke maumauʻi ʻae fuakava.
60 And I will remember my covenant [made] with you in the days of your infancy, and I will establish to you an everlasting covenant.
Ka neongo ia te u manatu ʻeau, ʻa ʻeku fuakava mo koe ʻi he ʻaho ʻo hoʻo kei siʻi, pea te u fokotuʻu kiate koe ha fuakava ʻe ʻikai ngata.
61 Then you shall remember your way, and shall be utterly dishonored when you receive your elder sisters with your younger ones: and I will give them to you for building up, but not by your covenant.
62 And I will establish my covenant with you; and you shall know that I am the Lord:
Pea te u fokotuʻu ʻa ʻeku fuakava mo koe, pea te ke ʻilo ko Sihova au.
63 that you may remember, and be ashamed, and may no more be able to open your mouth for your shame, when I am reconciled to you for all that you have done, says the Lord.
Koeʻuhi ke ke manatu ai, mo ke puputuʻu, pea ʻe ʻikai ʻaupito te ke toe mafaʻa ho ngutu koeʻuhi ko hoʻo mā, ʻo kau ka toe fiemālie kiate koe ʻi he meʻa kotoa pē kuo ke fai,” ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ko e ʻOtua.
