< Exodus 31 >

1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
The Lord told Moses,
2 Behold, I have called by name Beseleel the son of Urias the son of Or, of the tribe of Juda.
“I have chosen by name Bezalel, son of Uri, son of Hur, from the tribe of Judah.
3 And I have filled him [with] a divine spirit of wisdom, and understanding, and knowledge, to invent in every work,
I have filled him with the Spirit of God giving him ability, creativity, and expertise in all kinds of craftsmanship.
4 and to frame works, to labor in gold, and silver, and brass, and blue, and purple, and spun scarlet,
He can produce designs in gold, silver, and bronze,
5 and works in stone, and for artificers' work in wood, to work at all works.
he can cut gemstones to place in settings, and he can carve wood. He is a master of every craft.
6 And I have appointed him and Eliab the [son] of Achisamach of the tribe of Dan, and to every one understanding in heart I have given understanding; and they shall make all things as many as I have appointed you, —
I have also chosen Oholiab, son of Ahisamach, from the tribe of Dan, to help him. I have also given all the craftsmen the skills needed to make everything that I have ordered you to make:
7 the tabernacle of witness, and the ark of the covenant, and the propitiatory that is upon it, and the furniture of the tabernacle,
the Tent of Meeting, the Ark of the Testimony and its atonement cover, and all the other furniture in the Tent:
8 and the altars, and the table and all its furniture,
the table with its equipment, the pure gold lampstand with all its equipment, the altar of incense,
9 and the pure candlestick and all its furniture, and the laver and its base,
the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the basin plus its stand;
10 and Aaron's robes of ministry, and the robes of his sons to minister to me as priests,
as well as the woven clothes for both Aaron the priest and for his sons to serve as priests,
11 and the anointing oil and the compound incense of the sanctuary; according to all that I have commanded you shall they make them.
as well as anointing oil and fragrant incense for the Holy Place. They are to make them following all the instructions I have given you.”
12 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,
The Lord told Moses,
13 Do you also charge the children of Israel, saying, Take heed and keep my sabbaths; [for] they are a sign with me and among you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord that sanctifies you.
“Tell the Israelites, ‘It's absolutely essential that you keep my Sabbaths. The Sabbath will be a sign between me and you for generations to come, so that you'll know that I am the Lord who makes you holy.
14 And you shall keep the sabbaths, because this is holy to the Lord for you; he that profanes it shall surely be put to death: every one who shall do a work on it, that soul shall be destroyed from the midst of his people.
You shall keep the Sabbath because it is holy to you. Anyone who dishonors it must be killed. Anyone who works on that day must be cut off from their people.
15 Six days you shall do works, but the seventh day is the sabbath, a holy rest to the Lord; every one who shall do a work on the seventh day shall be put to death.
Six days you can work, but the seventh day is to be a Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Anyone who does any work on the Sabbath day must be killed.
16 And the children of Israel shall keep the sabbaths, to observe them throughout their generations.
The Israelites must keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath as an everlasting agreement for generations to come.
17 It is a perpetual covenant with me and the children of Israel, it is a perpetual sign with me; for in six days the Lord made the heaven and the earth, and on the seventh day he ceased, and rested.
It's a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for the Lord made the heavens and the earth in six days, but on the seventh day he stopped and he rested.’”
18 And he gave to Moses when he left off speaking to him in mount Sina the two tables of testimony, tables of stone written [upon] with the finger of God.
When the Lord finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the Testimony, stone tablets written on by the finger of God.
