Exodus 23
1 You shall not receive a vain report: you shall not agree with the unjust [man] to become an unjust witness.
Far ikkje med ljugardrøs! Slå ikkje lag med den som hev ei rang sak, so du vitnar med honom og hjelper uretten.
2 You shall not associate with the multitude for evil; you shall not join yourself with a multitude to turn aside with the majority so as to shut out judgment.
Fylg ikkje flokken i det som vondt er! Tala ikkje soleis på tinget at du hallar etter hopen og rengjer retten!
3 And you shall not spare a poor man in judgment.
Um det so er ein arming, so skal du’kje snilda på saki hans.
4 And if you meet your enemy's ox or his ass going astray, you shall turn them back and restore them to him.
Når du finn ein ukse eller eit asen som hev vildra seg burt, og som uvenen din eig, so skal du hava deim attende til honom!
5 And if you see your enemy's ass fallen under its burden, you shall not pass by it, but shall help to raise it with him.
Når du ser at asnet åt uvenen din hev sige under kløvi, so må du’kje tenkja på å ganga ifrå honom; du lyt hjelpa honom å løysa kløvi!
6 You shall not wrest the sentence of the poor in his judgment.
Reng ikkje retten for fatigfolk på tinget!
7 You shall abstain from every unjust thing: you shall not kill the innocent and just, and you shall not justify the wicked for gifts.
Haldt deg burte frå alle lygnarsaker, so du ikkje vert skuld i at ein saklaus og rettferdig mann let livet! For den som er skuldig, dømer ikkje eg fri.
8 And you shall not receive gifts; for gifts blind the eyes of the seeing, and corrupt just words.
Tak ikkje mutor! For mutorne synskverver deim som ser klårt, og rengjer saki for dei som hev rett.
9 And you shall not afflict a stranger, for you know the heart of a stranger; for you were yourselves strangers in the land of Egypt.
Far ikkje hardt med dei framande! For de veit korleis det er å kjenna seg framand; de var sjølve framande i Egyptarlandet.
10 Six years you shall sow your land, and gather in the fruits of it.
Seks år skal du så til jordi di, og hausta det ho ber;
11 But in the seventh year you shall let it rest, and leave it, and the poor of your nation shall feed; and the wild beasts of the field shall eat that which remains: thus shall you do to your vineyard and to your oliveyard.
men det sjuande skal du lata henne liggja og kvila, so dei fatige i landet kann finna noko å liva av, og det som dei leiver, må villdyri eta; sameleis skal du gjera med vingarden din og oljetrei.
12 Six days shall you do your works, and on the seventh day there shall be rest, that your ox and your ass may rest, and that the son of your maidservant and the stranger may be refreshed.
Seks dagar lyt du gjera arbeidet ditt; men den sjuande dagen skal du halda heilag, so uksen din og asnet ditt kann hava ro, og tenaren din og den framande mannen fær kvila seg.
13 Observe all things whatever I have commanded you; and you shall make no mention of the name of other gods, neither shall they be heard out of your mouth.
Alt det eg hev sagt ifrå um, lyt de vara dykk for! Nokon annan gud må de ikkje nemna! Slikt må du aldri taka på tunga!
14 Keep you a feast to me three times in the year.
Tri gonger um året skal du halda høgtid for meg.
15 Take heed to keep the feast of unleavened bread: seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I charged you at the season of the month of new [corn], for in it you came out of Egypt: you shall not appear before me empty.
Fyrst er det søtebrødhelgi; då skal du i sju dagar eta søtt brød, soleis som eg hev sagt deg, på den tid eg hev sett, i aksmånaden; for då tok du ut frå Egyptarland. Og ingen må visa seg tomhendt for augo mine.
16 And you shall keep the feast of the harvest of first fruits of your labors, whatever you shall have sown in your field, and the feast of completion at the end of the year in the gathering in of your fruits out of your field.
So er det skurdhelgi, når du skjer fyrstegrøda av det du sådde på åkeren, og so hausthelgi, når året er ute, og du samlar i hus det du hev avla på marki.
17 Three times in the year shall all your males appear before the Lord your God.
Tri vendor um året skal alle karmennerne dykkar møta for Drotten, for Herren.
18 For when I shall have cast out the nations from before you, and shall have widened your borders, you shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven, neither must the fat of my feast abide till the morning.
Du skal ikkje bera fram blodet av offerdyri mine i hop med brød som er syrt, og feittet av høgtidsofferet mitt må ikkje verta liggjande natti yver, til morgons.
19 You shall bring the first-offerings of the first fruits of your land into the house of the Lord your God. You shall not seethe a lamb in its mother's milk.
Det aller fyrste av grøda på marki di skal du bera til huset åt Herren, din Gud. Du skal ikkje sjoda kidet i mjølka åt mor si.
20 And, behold, I send my angel before your face, that he may keep you in the way, that he may bring you into the land which I have prepared for you.
Sjå no sender eg ein engel framfyre deg; han skal vara deg på vegen, og fylgja deg fram til den staden som eg hev etla deg.
21 Take heed to yourself and listen to him, and disobey him not; for he will not give way to you, for my name is on him.
Tak deg i vare for honom, og lyd etter ordi hans! Set dykk ikkje upp imot honom! For han vil ikkje tola broti dykkar; i honom er eg sjølv.
22 If you will indeed hear my voice, and if you will do all the things I shall charge you with, and keep my covenant, you shall be to me a peculiar people above all nations, for the whole earth is mine; and you shall be to me a royal priesthood, and a holy nation: these words shall you speak to the children of Israel, If you shall indeed hear my voice, and do all the things I shall tell you, I will be an enemy to your enemies, and an adversary to your adversaries.
Men lyder du so sant etter ordi hans og gjer alt det eg segjer, so skal eg hata deim som hatar deg, og trengja deim som trengjer deg.
23 For my angel shall go as your leader, and shall bring you to the Amorite, and Chettite, and Pherezite, and Chananite, and Gergesite, and Evite, and Jebusite, and I will destroy them.
For min engel min skal ganga fyre deg, og fylgja deg fram til amoritarne og hetitarne og perizitarne og kananitarne og hevitarne og jebusitarne, og eg vil øyda deim ut.
24 You shall not worship their gods, nor serve them: you shall not do according to their works, but shall utterly destroy them, and break to pieces their pillars.
Du skal ikkje tena og ikkje tilbeda gudarne deira! Du skal ikkje gjera som dei gjer, men du skal riva ned avgudarne og slå sund minnesteinarne deira.
25 And you shall serve the Lord your God, and I will bless your bread and your wine and your water, and I will turn away sickness from you.
De skal tena Herren, dykkar Gud! Då skal han signa både brødet og vatnet for deg, og sott og sykja skal eg venda frå deg.
26 There shall not be on your land one that is impotent or barren. I will surely fulfil the number of your days.
Det skal ikkje finnast kvende i landet ditt som fer ille eller ikkje er barnkjømd. Du skal få liva alderen ut.
27 And I will send terror before you, and I will strike with amazement all the nations to which you shall come, and I will make all your enemies to flee.
Fælska for meg skal eg senda fyre deg; alle dei folki du kjem til, skal eg forvilla; eg skal laga det so at alle fiendarne dine syner deg ryggen.
28 And I will send hornets before you, and you shall cast out the Amorites and the Evites, and the Chananites and the Chettites from you.
Ein kvefsesvarm vil eg senda fyre deg; den skal støkkja burt både hevitar og kananitar og hetitar.
29 I will not cast them out in one year, lest the land become desolate, and the beasts of the field multiply against you.
Eg vil ikkje driva deim ut på eitt år; for då kunde landet øydast, og villdyri verta for mange for deg.
30 By little [and little] I will cast them out from before you, until you shall be increased and inherit the earth.
Smått um senn vil eg jaga deim ut for deg, til dess du veks til, og tek landet i eige.
31 And I will set your borders from the Red Sea, to the sea of the Phylistines, and from the wilderness to the great river Euphrates; and I will give into your hand those that dwell in the land, and will cast them out from you.
Og riket ditt det skal rekka frå Sevsjøen til Filistarhavet, og frå Øydemarki til Storelvi. So gjev eg no i henderne dykkar deim som bur og byggjer i landet, og du skal driva dei ut.
32 You shall make no covenant with them and their gods.
Aldri må du gjera noko samband med deim eller gudarne deira.
33 And they shall not dwell in your land, lest they cause you to sin against me; for if you should serve their gods, these will be an offense to you.
Dei må ikkje bu i landet ditt; for då kunde dei lokka deg til å synda mot meg, og tenar du gudarne deira, so vert det deg til ei snara.»»
