Exodus 23
1 You shall not receive a vain report: you shall not agree with the unjust [man] to become an unjust witness.
Non spargerai false dicerie; non presterai mano al colpevole per essere testimone in favore di un'ingiustizia.
2 You shall not associate with the multitude for evil; you shall not join yourself with a multitude to turn aside with the majority so as to shut out judgment.
Non seguirai la maggioranza per agire male e non deporrai in processo per deviare verso la maggioranza, per falsare la giustizia.
3 And you shall not spare a poor man in judgment.
Non favorirai nemmeno il debole nel suo processo.
4 And if you meet your enemy's ox or his ass going astray, you shall turn them back and restore them to him.
Quando incontrerai il bue del tuo nemico o il suo asino dispersi, glieli dovrai ricondurre.
5 And if you see your enemy's ass fallen under its burden, you shall not pass by it, but shall help to raise it with him.
Quando vedrai l'asino del tuo nemico accasciarsi sotto il carico, non abbandonarlo a se stesso: mettiti con lui ad aiutarlo.
6 You shall not wrest the sentence of the poor in his judgment.
Non farai deviare il giudizio del povero, che si rivolge a te nel suo processo.
7 You shall abstain from every unjust thing: you shall not kill the innocent and just, and you shall not justify the wicked for gifts.
Ti terrai lontano da parola menzognera. Non far morire l'innocente e il giusto, perché io non assolvo il colpevole.
8 And you shall not receive gifts; for gifts blind the eyes of the seeing, and corrupt just words.
Non accetterai doni, perché il dono acceca chi ha gli occhi aperti e perverte anche le parole dei giusti.
9 And you shall not afflict a stranger, for you know the heart of a stranger; for you were yourselves strangers in the land of Egypt.
Non opprimerai il forestiero: anche voi conoscete la vita del forestiero, perché siete stati forestieri nel paese d'Egitto.
10 Six years you shall sow your land, and gather in the fruits of it.
Per sei anni seminerai la tua terra e ne raccoglierai il prodotto,
11 But in the seventh year you shall let it rest, and leave it, and the poor of your nation shall feed; and the wild beasts of the field shall eat that which remains: thus shall you do to your vineyard and to your oliveyard.
ma nel settimo anno non la sfrutterai e la lascerai incolta: ne mangeranno gli indigenti del tuo popolo e ciò che lasceranno sarà divorato dalle bestie della campagna. Così farai per la tua vigna e per il tuo oliveto.
12 Six days shall you do your works, and on the seventh day there shall be rest, that your ox and your ass may rest, and that the son of your maidservant and the stranger may be refreshed.
Per sei giorni farai i tuoi lavori, ma nel settimo giorno farai riposo, perché possano goder quiete il tuo bue e il tuo asino e possano respirare i figli della tua schiava e il forestiero.
13 Observe all things whatever I have commanded you; and you shall make no mention of the name of other gods, neither shall they be heard out of your mouth.
Farete attenzione a quanto vi ho detto: non pronunciate il nome di altri dei; non si senta sulla tua bocca!
14 Keep you a feast to me three times in the year.
Tre volte all'anno farai festa in mio onore:
15 Take heed to keep the feast of unleavened bread: seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I charged you at the season of the month of new [corn], for in it you came out of Egypt: you shall not appear before me empty.
Osserverai la festa degli azzimi: mangerai azzimi durante sette giorni, come ti ho ordinato, nella ricorrenza del mese di Abib, perché in esso sei uscito dall'Egitto. Non si dovrà comparire davanti a me a mani vuote.
16 And you shall keep the feast of the harvest of first fruits of your labors, whatever you shall have sown in your field, and the feast of completion at the end of the year in the gathering in of your fruits out of your field.
Osserverai la festa della mietitura, delle primizie dei tuoi lavori, di ciò che semini nel campo; la festa del raccolto, al termine dell'anno, quando raccoglierai il frutto dei tuoi lavori nei campi.
17 Three times in the year shall all your males appear before the Lord your God.
Tre volte all'anno ogni tuo maschio comparirà alla presenza del Signore Dio.
18 For when I shall have cast out the nations from before you, and shall have widened your borders, you shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven, neither must the fat of my feast abide till the morning.
Non offrirai con pane lievitato il sangue del sacrificio in mio onore e il grasso della vittima per la mia festa non starà fino al mattino.
19 You shall bring the first-offerings of the first fruits of your land into the house of the Lord your God. You shall not seethe a lamb in its mother's milk.
Il meglio delle primizie del tuo suolo lo porterai alla casa del Signore, tuo Dio. Non farai cuocere un capretto nel latte di sua madre.
20 And, behold, I send my angel before your face, that he may keep you in the way, that he may bring you into the land which I have prepared for you.
Ecco, io mando un angelo davanti a te per custodirti sul cammino e per farti entrare nel luogo che ho preparato.
21 Take heed to yourself and listen to him, and disobey him not; for he will not give way to you, for my name is on him.
Abbi rispetto della sua presenza, ascolta la sua voce e non ribellarti a lui; egli infatti non perdonerebbe la vostra trasgressione, perché il mio nome è in lui.
22 If you will indeed hear my voice, and if you will do all the things I shall charge you with, and keep my covenant, you shall be to me a peculiar people above all nations, for the whole earth is mine; and you shall be to me a royal priesthood, and a holy nation: these words shall you speak to the children of Israel, If you shall indeed hear my voice, and do all the things I shall tell you, I will be an enemy to your enemies, and an adversary to your adversaries.
Se tu ascolti la sua voce e fai quanto ti dirò, io sarò il nemico dei tuoi nemici e l'avversario dei tuoi avversari.
23 For my angel shall go as your leader, and shall bring you to the Amorite, and Chettite, and Pherezite, and Chananite, and Gergesite, and Evite, and Jebusite, and I will destroy them.
Quando il mio angelo camminerà alla tua testa e ti farà entrare presso l'Amorreo, l'Hittita, il Perizzita, il Cananeo, l'Eveo e il Gebuseo e io li distruggerò,
24 You shall not worship their gods, nor serve them: you shall not do according to their works, but shall utterly destroy them, and break to pieces their pillars.
tu non ti prostrerai davanti ai loro dei e non li servirai; tu non ti comporterai secondo le loro opere, ma dovrai demolire e dovrai frantumare le loro stele.
25 And you shall serve the Lord your God, and I will bless your bread and your wine and your water, and I will turn away sickness from you.
Voi servirete al Signore, vostro Dio. Egli benedirà il tuo pane e la tua acqua. Terrò lontana da te la malattia.
26 There shall not be on your land one that is impotent or barren. I will surely fulfil the number of your days.
Non vi sarà nel tuo paese donna che abortisca o che sia sterile. Ti farò giungere al numero completo dei tuoi giorni.
27 And I will send terror before you, and I will strike with amazement all the nations to which you shall come, and I will make all your enemies to flee.
Manderò il mio terrore davanti a te e metterò in rotta ogni popolo in mezzo al quale entrerai; farò voltar le spalle a tutti i tuoi nemici davanti a te.
28 And I will send hornets before you, and you shall cast out the Amorites and the Evites, and the Chananites and the Chettites from you.
Manderò i calabroni davanti a te ed essi scacceranno dalla tua presenza l'Eveo, il Cananeo e l'Hittita.
29 I will not cast them out in one year, lest the land become desolate, and the beasts of the field multiply against you.
Non li scaccerò dalla tua presenza in un solo anno, perché il paese non resti deserto e le bestie selvatiche si moltiplichino contro di te.
30 By little [and little] I will cast them out from before you, until you shall be increased and inherit the earth.
A poco a poco li scaccerò dalla tua presenza, finché avrai tanti figli da occupare il paese.
31 And I will set your borders from the Red Sea, to the sea of the Phylistines, and from the wilderness to the great river Euphrates; and I will give into your hand those that dwell in the land, and will cast them out from you.
Stabilirò il tuo confine dal Mare Rosso fino al mare dei Filistei e dal deserto fino al fiume, perché ti consegnerò in mano gli abitanti del paese e li scaccerò dalla tua presenza.
32 You shall make no covenant with them and their gods.
Ma tu non farai alleanza con loro e con i loro dei;
33 And they shall not dwell in your land, lest they cause you to sin against me; for if you should serve their gods, these will be an offense to you.
essi non abiteranno più nel tuo paese, altrimenti ti farebbero peccare contro di me, perché tu serviresti i loro dei e ciò diventerebbe una trappola per te».
