Deuteronomy 18
1 The priests, the Levites, even the whole tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel; the burnt offerings of the Lord [are] their inheritance, they shall eat them.
Os sacerdotes levitas, toda a tribo de Levi, não terão parte nem herança em Israel: das ofertas queimadas do Senhor e da sua herança comerão.
2 And they shall have no inheritance among their brethren; the Lord himself [is] his portion, as he said to him.
Pelo que não terá herança no meio de seus irmãos: o Senhor é a sua herança, como lhe tem dito.
3 And this [is] the due of the priests in the things coming from the people from those who offer sacrifices, whether it be a calf or a sheep; and you shall give the shoulder to the priest, and the cheeks, and the great intestine:
Este pois será o direito dos sacerdotes, a receber do povo, dos que sacrificarem sacrifício, seja boi ou gado miúdo: que dará ao sacerdote a espadoa, e as queixadas, e o bucho.
4 and the first fruits of your corn, and of your wine, and of your oil; and you shall give to him the first fruits of the fleeces of your sheep:
Dar-lhe-ás as primícias do teu grão, do teu mosto e do teu azeite, e as primícias da tosquia das tuas ovelhas.
5 because the Lord has chosen him out of all your tribes, to stand before the Lord your God, to minister and bless in his name, himself and his sons among the children of Israel.
Porque o Senhor teu Deus o escolheu de todas as tuas tribos, para que assista a servir no nome do Senhor, ele e seus filhos, todos os dias.
6 And if a Levite come from one of the cities of all the children of Israel, where he himself dwells, accordingly as his mind desires, to the place which he shall have chosen,
E, quando vier um levita de alguma das tuas portas, de todo o Israel, onde habitar, e vier com todo o desejo da sua alma ao lugar que o Senhor escolheu,
7 he shall minister to the name of the Lord his God, as all his brethren the Levites, who stand there present before the Lord your God.
E servir no nome do Senhor seu Deus, como também todos os seus irmãos, os levitas, que assistem ali perante o Senhor;
8 He shall eat an allotted portion, besides the sale of his hereditary property.
Igual porção comerão, além das suas vendas paternas.
9 And when you shall have entered into the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to do according to the abominations of those nations.
Quando entrares na terra que o Senhor teu Deus te der, não aprenderás a fazer conforme as abominações daquelas nações.
10 There shall not be found in you one who purges his son or his daughter with fire, one who uses divination, who deals with omens, and augury,
Entre ti se não achará quem faça passar pelo fogo a seu filho ou a sua filha, nem adivinhador, nem prognosticador, nem agoureiro, nem feiticeiro;
11 a sorcerer employing incantation, one who has in him a divining spirit, and observer of signs, questioning the dead.
Nem encantador de encantamentos, nem quem pergunte a um espírito adivinhante, nem mágico, nem quem pergunte aos mortos:
12 For every one that does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God; for because of these abominations the Lord will destroy them from before your face.
Pois todo aquele que faz tal coisa é abominação ao Senhor; e por estas abominações o Senhor teu Deus as lança fora de diante dele
13 You shall be perfect before the Lord your God.
Perfeito serás, como o Senhor teu Deus.
14 For all these nations whose [land] you shall inherit, they will listen to omens and divinations; but the Lord your God has not permitted you so [to do].
Porque estas nações, que as de possuir, ouvem os prognosticadores e os adivinhadores: porém a ti o Senhor teu Deus não permitiu tal coisa.
15 The Lord your God shall raise up to you a prophet of your brethren, like me; him shall you hear:
O Senhor teu Deus te despertará um profeta do meio de ti, de teus irmãos, como eu; a ele ouvireis;
16 according to all things which you did desire of the Lord your God in Choreb in the day of the assembly, saying, We will not again hear the voice of the Lord your God, and we will not any more see this great fire, and [so] we shall not die.
Conforme a tudo o que pediste ao Senhor teu Deus em Horeb, no dia da congregação, dizendo: Não ouvirei mais a voz do Senhor meu Deus, nem mais verei este grande fogo, para que não morra.
17 And the Lord said to me, They have spoken rightly all that they have said to you.
Então o Senhor me disse: Bem falaram naquilo que disseram.
18 I will raise up to them a prophet of their brethren, like you; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them as I shall command him.
Eis lhes suscitarei um profeta do meio de seus irmãos, como tu, e porei as minhas palavras na sua boca, e ele lhes falará tudo o que eu lhe ordenar.
19 And whatever man shall not listen to whatever words that prophet shall speak in my name, I will take vengeance on him.
E será que qualquer que não ouvir as minhas palavras, que ele falar em meu nome, eu o requererei dele.
20 But the prophet whoever shall impiously speak in my name a word which I have not commanded him to speak, and whoever shall speak in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.
Porém o profeta que presumir soberbamente de falar alguma palavra em meu nome, que eu lhe não tenho mandado falar, ou o que falar em nome de outros deuses, o tal profeta morrerá.
21 But if you shall say in your heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?
E, se disseres no teu coração: Como conheceremos a palavra que o Senhor não falou?
22 Whatsoever words that prophet shall speak in the name of the Lord, and they shall not come true, and not come to pass, this [is] the thing which the Lord has not spoken; that prophet has spoken wickedly: you shall not spare him.
Quando o tal profeta falar em nome do Senhor, e tal palavra se não cumprir, nem suceder assim; esta é palavra que o Senhor não falou: com soberba a falou o tal profeta: não tenhas temor dele.
