Deuteronomy 14
1 You are the children of the Lord your God: you shall not make any baldness between you eyes for the dead.
"Kamu adalah umat TUHAN Allahmu. Jadi pada waktu kamu berkabung untuk orang mati, janganlah melukai dirimu atau mencukur bagian depan kepalamu seperti yang dilakukan oleh bangsa-bangsa lain.
2 For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord your God has chosen you to be a peculiar people to himself of all the nations on the face of the earth.
Kamu adalah milik TUHAN Allahmu; dari segala bangsa di atas bumi, kamulah yang dipilih Allah untuk menjadi umat-Nya."
3 You shall not eat any abominable thing.
"Janganlah makan binatang yang dinyatakan haram oleh TUHAN.
4 These [are] the beasts which you shall eat; the calf of the herd, and lamb of the sheep, and kid of the goats;
Kamu boleh makan binatang-binatang ini: sapi, domba, kambing,
5 the stag, and doe, and pygarg, and wild goat, and camelopard.

6 Every beast that divides the hoofs, and makes claws of two divisions, and that chews the cud among beasts, these you shall eat.
dan semua binatang yang kukunya terbelah dan memamah biak.
7 And these you shall not eat of them that chew the cud, and of those that divide the hoofs, and make distinct claws; the camel, and the hare, and the rabbit; because they chew the cud, and do not divide the hoof, these are unclean to you.
Kamu tak boleh makan binatang yang kukunya tidak terbelah dan tidak memamah biak. Jangan makan unta, kelinci atau marmot. Binatang itu haram karena walaupun memamah biak, kukunya tidak terbelah.
8 And as for the swine, because he divides the hoof, and makes claws of the hoof, yet he chews not the cud, he is unclean to you; you shall not eat of their flesh, you shall not touch their dead bodies.
Jangan makan babi. Binatang itu haram, karena walaupun kukunya terbelah, ia tidak memamah biak. Dagingnya tak boleh dimakan, bangkainya tak boleh disentuh.
9 And these you shall eat of all that are in the water, you shall eat all that have fins and scales.
Kamu boleh makan segala macam ikan yang bersirip dan bersisik.
10 And all that have not fins and scales you shall not eat; they are unclean to you.
Binatang yang hidup di dalam air tetapi tidak bersirip dan tidak bersisik adalah haram, jadi tak boleh dimakan.
11 You shall eat every clean bird.
Kamu boleh makan segala macam burung yang tidak haram.
12 And these of them you shall not eat; the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the sea-eagle,
Tetapi ada beberapa jenis burung yang tidak boleh dimakan, yaitu: burung rajawali, burung hantu, segala jenis elang, nasar, gagak, burung unta, camar, blekok dan segala jenis bangau, undan, burung kasa dan kelelawar.
13 and the vulture, and the kite and the like to it,
15 and the sparrow, and the owl, and the cormorant,
16 and the heron, and the swan, and the stork,
17 and the cormorant, and the hawk, and its like, and the hoopoe, and the raven,
18 and the pelican, and the diver and the like to it, and the red-bill and the bat.
19 All winged animals that creep are unclean to you; you shall not eat of them.
Semua serangga yang bersayap adalah haram, jadi tak boleh dimakan.
20 You shall eat every clean bird.
Binatang bersayap yang tidak haram boleh dimakan.
21 You shall eat nothing that dies of itself; it shall be given to the sojourner in your cities and he shall eat it, or you shall sell it to a stranger, because you are a holy people to the Lord your God. You shall not boil a lamb in his mother's milk.
Binatang yang mati dengan sendirinya tak boleh kamu makan, tetapi boleh dimakan oleh orang asing yang tinggal di antara kamu, atau dijual kepada bangsa asing. Kamu adalah umat yang dikhususkan untuk TUHAN Allahmu. Daging anak domba atau anak kambing tak boleh dimasak dengan air susu induknya."
22 You shall tithe a tenth of all the produce of your seed, the fruit of your field year by year.
"Setiap tahun kamu harus menyisihkan sepersepuluh dari seluruh hasil tanahmu.
23 And you shall eat it in the place which the Lord your God shall choose to have his name called there; you shall bring the tithe of your corn and of your wine, and of your oil, the firstborn of your herd and of your flock, that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always.
Di hadapan TUHAN Allahmu, di tempat yang dipilih-Nya, untuk tempat ibadah, kamu harus makan persembahan sepersepuluhan dari gandum, air anggur, minyak zaitun serta anak sapi dan kambing dombamu yang pertama lahir. Lakukanlah hal itu supaya untuk selamanya kamu belajar menghormati TUHAN Allahmu.
24 And if the journey be too far for you, and you are not able to bring them, because the place [is] far from you which the Lord your God shall choose to have his name called there, because the Lord your God will bless you;
Kalau tempat yang dipilih TUHAN Allahmu terlalu jauh dari rumahmu, sehingga sepersepuluh dari hasil tanahmu yang diberikan TUHAN Allahmu kepadamu tak dapat kamu bawa ke situ, maka
25 then you shall sell them for money, and you shall take the money in your hands, and you shall go to the place which the Lord your God shall choose.
juallah bagian dari hasil tanahmu itu, dan bawalah uangnya ke tempat yang dipilih TUHAN Allahmu.
26 And you shall give the money for whatever your soul shall desire, for oxen or for sheep, or for wine, or [you shall lay it out] on strong drink, or on whatever your soul may desire, and you shall eat there before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice and your house,
Belanjakanlah uang itu untuk apa saja yang kamu inginkan--sapi atau kambing domba, air anggur atau minuman keras--lalu di tempat itu, di hadapan TUHAN Allahmu, kamu dan keluargamu harus makan bersama dan bersenang-senang.
27 and the Levite that is in your cities, because he has not a portion or inheritance with you.
Jangan membiarkan terlantar orang Lewi yang tinggal di kota-kotamu; ingatlah bahwa mereka itu tidak mempunyai tanah sendiri.
28 After three years you shall bring out all the tithes of your fruits, in that year you shall lay it up in your cities.
Pada akhir tiap tahun ketiga, kamu harus membawa sepersepuluh bagian dari hasil tanahmu dan mengumpulkannya di kota-kotamu.
29 And the Levite shall come, because he has no part or lot with you, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow which is in your cities; and they shall eat and be filled, that the Lord your God may bless you in all the works which you shall do.
Makanan itu untuk orang Lewi karena mereka tidak mempunyai tanah, dan untuk orang asing, anak yatim piatu dan para janda yang hidup di kota-kotamu. Mereka boleh datang dan mengambil segala yang mereka perlukan. Kalau kamu berbuat demikian, maka TUHAN Allahmu akan memberkati segala usahamu."
