Amos 6

1 Woe to them that set at nothing Sion, and that trust in the mountain of Samaria: they have gathered [the harvest of] the heads of the nations, and they have gone in themselves.

۱ وای بر آنانی که در صهیون ایمن و درکوهستان سامره مطمئن هستند که نقبای امت های اولی که خاندان اسرائیل نزد آنها آمدندمی باشند.

2 O house of Israel, pass by all [of you], and see; and pass by thence to Ematrabba; and thence descend to Geth of the Philistines, the chief of all these kingdoms, [see] if their coasts are greater than your coasts.

۲ به کلنه عبور کنید و ملاحظه نمایید واز آنجا به حمات بزرگ بروید و به جت فلسطینیان فرود آیید؛ آیا آنها از این ممالک نیکوتر است یا حدود ایشان از حدود شمابزرگتر؟

3 You who are approaching the evil day, who are drawing near and adopting false sabbaths;

۳ شما که روز بلا را دور می‌کنید و مسند ظلم را نزدیک می‌آورید.

4 who sleep upon beds of ivory, and live delicately on their couches, and eat kids out of the flocks, and sucking calves out of the midst of the stalls;

۴ که بر تختهای عاج می‌خوابید و بر بسترها دراز می‌شوید و بره‌ها را ازگله و گوساله‌ها را از میان حظیره‌ها می‌خورید.

5 who excel in the sound of musical instruments; they have regarded them as dwelling, not as fleeting [pleasures];

۵ که با نغمه بربط می‌سرایید و آلات موسیقی رامثل داود برای خود اختراع می‌کنید.

6 who drink strained wine, and anoint themselves with the best ointment; and have suffered nothing on occasion of the calamity of Joseph.

۶ و شراب رااز کاسه‌ها می‌نوشید و خویشتن را به بهترین عطریات تدهین می‌نمایید اما به جهت مصیبت یوسف غمگین نمی شوید.

7 Therefore now shall they depart into captivity from the dominion of princes, and the neighing of horses shall be cut off from Ephraim.

۷ بنابراین ایشان الان بااسیران اول به اسیری خواهند رفت و صدای عیش کنندگان دور خواهد شد.

8 For the Lord has sworn by himself, [saying], Because I abhor all the pride of Jacob, I do also hate his countries, and I will cut off [his] city with all who inhabit it.

۸ خداوند یهوه به ذات خود قسم خورده ویهوه خدای لشکرها فرموده است که من ازحشمت یعقوب نفرت دارم و قصرهایش نزد من مکروه است. پس شهر را با هر‌چه در آن است تسلیم خواهم نمود.

9 And it shall come to pass, if there be ten men left in one house, that they shall die.

۹ و اگر ده نفر در یک شهرباقی‌مانده باشند ایشان خواهند مرد.

10 But a remnant shall be left behind, and their relations shall take them, and shall strenuously endeavor to carry forth their bones from the house: and one shall say to the heads of the house, Is there yet [any one] else with you? And he shall say, No [one] else. And [the other] shall say, Be silent, that you name not the name of the Lord.

۱۰ و چون خویشاوندان و دفن کنندگان کسی را بردارند تااستخوانها را از خانه بیرون برند آنگاه به کسی‌که در اندرون خانه باشد خواهند گفت: آیا دیگری نزد تو هست؟ او جواب خواهد داد که نیست. پس خواهند گفت: ساکت باش زیرا نام یهوه نبایدذکر شود.

11 For, behold, the Lord commands, and he will strike the great house with breaches, and the little house with rents.

۱۱ زیرا اینک خداوند امر می‌فرماید وخانه بزرگ به خرابیها و خانه کوچک به شکافهاتلف می‌شود.

12 Will horses run upon rocks? will they refrain from neighing at mares? for you have turned judgment into poison, and the fruit of righteousness into bitterness:

۱۲ آیا اسبان بر صخره می‌دوند یاآن را با گاوان شیار می‌کنند؟ زیرا که شما انصاف را به حنظل و ثمره عدالت را به افسنتین مبدل ساخته‌اید.

13 you who rejoice at vanity, who say, Have we not possessed horns by our own strength?

۱۳ و به ناچیز شادی می‌کنید ومی گویید آیا با قوت خویش شاخها برای خودپیدا نکردیم؟

14 For behold, O house of Israel, I will raise up against you a nation, says the Lord of hosts; and they shall afflict you so that you shall not enter into Aemath, and as it were [from] the river of the wilderness.

۱۴ زیرا یهوه خدای لشکرهامی گوید: اینک‌ای خاندان اسرائیل من به ضدشما امتی برمی انگیزانم که شما را از مدخل حمات تا نهر عربه به تنگ خواهند‌آورد.
