Amos 2
1 Thus says the Lord; For three sins of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away from it; because they burnt the bones of the king of Idumea to lime.
Így szól az Örökkévaló: Móábnak három bűntette miatt és négy miatt nem térítem el tőle: amiatt hogy Edóm királyának csontjait elégette mésszé.
2 But I will send forth a fire on Moab, and it shall devour the foundations of its cities: and Moab shall perish in weakness, with a shout, and with the sound of a trumpet.
Majd bocsátok tüzet Móábra, és megemészti Kérijót kastélyait, és meghal zajongás közt Móáb, riadás közt, harsona hangja, mellett.
3 And I will destroy the judge out of her, and kill all her princes with him, says the Lord.
És kiírtok bírót körepéből, és mind a nagyjait megölöm vele együtt, mondja az Örökkévaló.
4 Thus says the Lord; For three sins of the children of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away from him; because they have rejected the law of the Lord, and have not kept his ordinances, and their vain [idols] which they made, which their fathers followed, caused them to err.
Így szól az Örökkévaló: Jehúdának három bűntette miatt és négy miatt nem térítem el tőle: amiatt hogy megvetették az Örökkévaló tanát és törvényeit nem őrizték meg, hanem eltévelyegtették őket hazugságaik, melyek után őseik jártak.
5 And I will send a fire on Juda, and it shall devour the foundations of Jerusalem.
Majd bocsátok tüzet Jehúdára, és fölemészti Jeruzsálem kastélyait.
6 Thus says the Lord; for three sins of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away from him; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for sandals,
Így szól az Örökkévaló: Izraélnek három bűntette miatt és négy miatt nem térítem el tőle: amiatt hogy pénzen adták el az igazat, és a szűkölködőt egy pár saruért.
7 wherewith to tread on the dust of the earth, and they have struck upon the heads of the poor, and have perverted the way of the lowly: and a son and his father have gone into the same maid, that they might profane the name of their God.
A kik áhítoznak a föld porára a szegényeknek fején és az alázatosaknak útját elhajítják; s ki-ki apjával mennek a leányhoz, azért hogy megszentségtelenítsék az én szent nevemet.
8 And binding their clothes with cords they have made them curtains near the altar, and they have drunk wine gained by extortion in the house of their God.
Zálogba vett ruhákon terülnek el minden oltár mellett, és bírságoltaknak borát isszák isteneik házában.
9 Nevertheless I cut off the Amorite from before them, whose height was as the height of a cedar, and he was strong as an oak; and I dried up his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.
Pedig én megsemmisítettem előlük az emórit, kinek mint a czédrusok magassága olyan a magassága, és hatalmas volt mint a terebinthusok megsemmisítettem gyümölcsét felül és gyökereit alul.
10 And I brought you up out of the land of Egypt, and led you about in the desert forty years, that you should inherit the land of the Amorites.
Pedig én hoztalak fel benneteket Egyiptom országából, és vezettelek benneteket a pusztában, negyven évig, hogy elfoglaljátok az emóri országát.
11 And I took of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for consecration. Are not these things so, you sons of Israel? says the Lord.
És támasztottam fiaitok közül prófétákat, és ifjaitok közül názirokat: Vajon nincs ez így Izraél fiai? – úgymond az Örökkévaló.
12 But you gave the consecrated ones wine to drink; and you commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.
De inni adtatok bort a názitoknak, és a prófétákra ráparancsoltatok, mondván: ne prófétáljatok!
13 Therefore, behold, I roll under you, as a waggon full of straw is rolled.
Íme én szorítlak ott ahol vagytok, ahogy szorít a szekér, mely telve van kévével.
14 And flight shall perish from the runner, and the strong shall not hold fast his strength, and the warrior shall not save his life:
És elvész a menedék a könnyülábú elől, és az erős sem szedi össze erejét, s a vitéz nem menti meg a lelkét.
15 and the archer shall not withstand, and he that is swift of foot shall in no wise escape; and the horseman shall not save his life.
A ki az íjjat fogja, nem áll meg, s a gyorslábú nem menti meg, sem lovon nyargaló nem menti meg lelkét.
16 And the strong shall find no confidence in power: the naked shall flee away in that day, says the Lord.
A legbátrabb szívű a vitézek közt meztelenül futamodik ama napon, úgymond az Örökkévaló.
