Chronicles II 8
1 And it came to pass after twenty years, in which Solomon built the house of the Lord, and his own house,

2 that Solomon rebuilt the cities which Chiram had given to Solomon, and caused the children of Israel to dwell in them.
il arriva que Salomon bâtit aussi les villes que Hiram avait données à Salomon, et y fit habiter les fils d’Israël.
3 And Solomon came to Baesoba, and fortified it.
Et Salomon alla en Hamath-Tsoba, et l’assujettit.
4 And he built Thoedmor in the wilderness, and all the strong cities which he built in Emath.
Et il bâtit Tadmor dans le désert, et toutes les villes à entrepôts qu’il bâtit en Hamath.
5 And he built Baethoron the upper, and Baethoron the lower, strong cities, —they had walls, gates, and bars;
Et il bâtit Beth-Horon la haute, et Beth-Horon la basse, villes fortes, avec des murailles, des portes et des barres,
6 and Balaath, and all the strong cities which Solomon had, and all his chariot cities, and cities of horsemen, and all things that Solomon desired according to his desire of building, in Jerusalem, and in Libanus, and in all his kingdom.
et Baalath, et toutes les villes à entrepôts qu’avait Salomon, et toutes les villes pour les chars, et les villes pour la cavalerie, et tout ce que Salomon désira de bâtir à Jérusalem, et au Liban, et dans tout le pays de sa domination.
7 [As for] all the people that was left of the Chettites, and the Amorites, and the Pherezites, and the Evites, and the Jebusites, who are not of Israel,
– Tout le peuple qui restait des Héthiens, et des Amoréens, et des Phéréziens, et des Héviens, et des Jébusiens, qui n’étaient pas d’Israël,
8 but were of the children of them whom the children Israel destroyed not, that were left after them in the land, even them did Solomon make tributaries to this day.
– leurs fils qui étaient restés après eux dans le pays [et] que les fils d’Israël n’avaient pas détruits, Salomon les assujettit aux levées, jusqu’à ce jour.
9 But Solomon did not make any of the children of Israel servants in his kingdom; for, behold, [they were] warriors and rulers, and mighty [men], and captains of chariots and horsemen.
Mais des fils d’Israël, Salomon n’en fit pas des esclaves pour ses travaux; car ils étaient hommes de guerre, et chefs de ses capitaines, et chefs de ses chars et de sa cavalerie.
10 And these are the chiefs of the officers of king Solomon, two hundred and fifty overseeing the work among the people.
Et c’est ici [le nombre] des chefs des intendants qu’avait le roi Salomon: 250, qui avaient autorité sur le peuple.
11 And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharao from the city of David to the house which he had built for her: for he said, My wife shall not dwell in the city of David, the king of Israel, for [the place] is holy into which the ark of the Lord has entered.
Et Salomon fit monter la fille du Pharaon, de la ville de David, dans la maison qu’il avait bâtie pour elle; car il dit: Ma femme n’habitera pas dans la maison de David, roi d’Israël, car les lieux où est entrée l’arche de l’Éternel sont saints.
12 Then Solomon offered up to the Lord whole burnt offerings on the altar which he had built to the Lord before the temple,
Alors Salomon offrit des holocaustes à l’Éternel, sur l’autel de l’Éternel, qu’il avait bâti devant le portique,
13 according to the daily rate, to offer up [sacrifices] according to the commandments of Moses, on the sabbaths, and at the new moons, and at the feasts, three times in the year, at the feast of unleavened bread, and at the feast of weeks, and at the feast of tabernacles.
offrant chaque jour ce qu’il fallait, selon le commandement de Moïse, pour les sabbats, et pour les nouvelles lunes, et pour les jours solennels, trois fois par an, à la fête des pains sans levain, et à la fête des semaines, et à la fête des tabernacles.
14 And he established, according to the order of his father David, the courses of the priests, and [that] according to their public ministrations: and the Levites [were appointed] over their charges, to praise and minister before the priests according to the daily order: and the porters were appointed according to their courses to the different gates: for thus [were] the commandments of David the man of God.
Et il établit, suivant l’ordonnance de David, son père, les classes des sacrificateurs dans leur service, et les lévites dans leurs charges, pour louer et pour faire le service devant les sacrificateurs, selon l’œuvre de chaque jour, et les portiers dans leurs divisions, à chaque porte; car tel avait été le commandement de David, homme de Dieu.
15 They transgressed not the commandments of the king concerning the priests and the Levites with regard to everything else, and with regard to the treasures.
Et on ne s’écarta point du commandement du roi pour les sacrificateurs et les lévites, en aucune chose, ni à l’égard des trésors.
16 Now all the work had been prepared from the day when the foundation was laid, until Solomon finished the house of the Lord.
Ainsi toute l’œuvre de Salomon fut préparée, jusqu’au jour où la maison de l’Éternel fut fondée, et jusqu’à ce qu’elle fut terminée. La maison de l’Éternel fut achevée.
17 Then Solomon went to Gasion Gaber, and to Aelath near the sea in the land of Idumea.
Alors Salomon s’en alla à Étsion-Guéber et à Éloth, sur le bord de la mer, dans le pays d’Édom.
18 And Chiram sent by the hand of his servants ships, and servants skilled in naval affairs; and they went with the servants of Solomon to Sophira, and brought thence four hundred and fifty talents of gold, and they came to king Solomon.
Et Hiram lui envoya, par la main de ses serviteurs, des navires et des serviteurs connaissant la mer; et ils allèrent avec les serviteurs de Salomon à Ophir, et y prirent 450 talents d’or, et les apportèrent au roi Salomon.
