Chronicles II 35
1 And Josias kept a passover to the Lord his God; and sacrificed the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month.
Josias célébra la Pâque en l'honneur de Yahvé à Jérusalem. On immolait la Pâque le quatorzième jour du premier mois.
2 And he appointed the priests at their charges, and encouraged them for the services of the house of the Lord.
Il établit les prêtres dans leurs fonctions et les encouragea dans le service de la maison de l'Éternel.
3 And he told the Levites that were able [to act] in all Israel, that they should consecrate themselves to the Lord: and they put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel built: and the king said, You must not carry anything on your shoulders: now then minister to the Lord your God, and to his people Israel.
Il dit aux Lévites, qui enseignaient à tout Israël et qui étaient consacrés à Yahvé: « Mettez l'arche sainte dans la maison que Salomon, fils de David, roi d'Israël, a construite. Elle ne sera plus un fardeau pour vos épaules. Maintenant, servez Yahvé, votre Dieu, et son peuple, Israël.
4 And prepare yourselves according to the houses of your families, and according to your daily courses, according to the writing of David king of Israel, and [the order] by the hand of his son Solomon.
Préparez-vous selon les maisons de vos pères, selon vos divisions, selon l'écriture de David, roi d'Israël, et selon l'écriture de Salomon, son fils.
5 And stand you in the house according to the divisions of the houses of your families for your brethren the sons of the people; [so] also let there be for the Levites a division of the house of their family.
Tenez-vous dans le lieu saint selon les divisions des maisons paternelles de vos frères, les enfants du peuple, et qu'il y ait pour chacun une portion de maison paternelle des Lévites.
6 And kill you the passover, and prepare [it] for your brethren, to do according to the word of the Lord, by the hand of Moses.
Immolez l'agneau de Pâques, sanctifiez-vous et préparez pour vos frères, afin de faire selon la parole de Yahvé par Moïse. »
7 And Josias gave as an offering to the children of the people, sheep, and lambs, and kids of the young of the goats, all for the passover, [even for] all that were found, in number [amounting to] thirty thousand, and three thousand calves, these [were] of the substance of the king.
Josias donna aux enfants du peuple, du troupeau, des agneaux et des chevreaux, tous pour les offrandes de la Pâque, à tous ceux qui étaient présents, au nombre de trente mille, et trois mille taureaux. Ces biens appartenaient au roi.
8 And his princes gave an offering to the people, and to the priests, and to the Levites: and Chelcias and Zacharias and Jeiel the chief men gave to the priests of the house of God, they even gave for the passover sheep, and lambs, and kids, two thousand six hundred, and three hundred calves.
Ses princes firent une offrande volontaire au peuple, aux prêtres et aux lévites. Hilkija, Zacharie et Jehiel, chefs de la maison de Dieu, donnèrent aux sacrificateurs, pour les offrandes de la Pâque, deux mille six cents petits animaux et trois cents têtes de bétail.
9 And Chonenias, and Banaeas, and Samaeas, and Nathanael his brother, and Asabias, and Jeiel, and Jozabad, heads of the Levites, gave an offering to the Levites for the passover, of five thousand sheep and five hundred calves.
Conania, Shemahia et Nethanel, ses frères, Haschabia, Jeiel et Jozabad, les chefs des Lévites, donnèrent aux Lévites, pour les offrandes de la Pâque, cinq mille petits animaux et cinq cents têtes de bétail.
10 And the service was duly ordered, and the priests stood in their place, and the Levites in their divisions, according to the command of the king.
Le service fut donc préparé; les prêtres se tinrent à leur place, et les Lévites selon leurs divisions, conformément à l'ordre du roi.
11 And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled the blood from their hand, and the Levites flayed [the victims].
Ils égorgèrent les agneaux de la Pâque; les prêtres aspergèrent le sang qu'ils reçurent de leurs mains, et les Lévites les dépouillèrent.
12 And they prepared the whole burnt offering to give to them, according to the division by the houses of families, [even] to the sons of the people, to offer to the Lord, as it is written in the book of Moses.
Ils enlevèrent les holocaustes pour les donner selon les divisions des maisons paternelles des enfants du peuple, afin de les offrir à l'Éternel, comme il est écrit dans le livre de Moïse. Ils firent de même avec le bétail.
13 And thus [they did] till the morning. And they roasted the passover with fire according to the ordinance; and boiled the holy [pieces] in copper vessels and caldrons, and [the feast] went on well, and they quickly served all the children of the people.
Ils faisaient rôtir la Pâque au feu, selon l'ordonnance. Ils firent bouillir les offrandes saintes dans des marmites, des chaudrons et des casseroles, et les portèrent rapidement à tous les enfants du peuple.
14 And after they had prepared for themselves and for the priests, for the priests [were engaged] in offering the whole burnt offerings and the fat until night, then the Levites prepared for themselves, and for their brethren the sons of Aaron.
Ensuite, ils se préparèrent pour eux-mêmes et pour les prêtres, car les prêtres, fils d'Aaron, étaient occupés à offrir les holocaustes et la graisse jusqu'à la nuit. Les Lévites se préparèrent donc pour eux-mêmes et pour les prêtres, fils d'Aaron.
15 And the sons of Asaph the psalm-singers [were] at their post according to the commands of David, and Asaph, and Aeman, and Idithom, the prophets of the king: also, the chiefs and the porters of the several gates; —it was not for them to stir from the service of the holy things, for their brethren the Levites prepared for them.
Les chantres, fils d'Asaph, étaient à leur place, selon l'ordre de David, Asaph, Héman et Jeduthun, voyant du roi; et les portiers étaient à chaque porte. Ils n'avaient pas besoin de quitter leur service, car leurs frères les Lévites les préparaient.
16 So all the service of the Lord was duly ordered and prepared in that day, for keeping the passover, and offering the whole burnt sacrifices on the altar of the Lord, according to the command of king Josias.
Ainsi, tout le service de l'Éternel fut préparé le même jour, pour célébrer la Pâque et pour offrir des holocaustes sur l'autel de l'Éternel, selon l'ordre du roi Josias.
17 And the children of Israel that were present kept the passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days.
Les enfants d'Israël qui étaient présents célébrèrent la Pâque en ce temps-là, et la fête des pains sans levain pendant sept jours.
18 And there was no passover like it in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet, or any king of Israel: they kept not such a passover as Josias, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Juda and Israel that were present, and the dwellers in Jerusalem, kept to the Lord.
Il n'y a pas eu de Pâque comme celle-là en Israël depuis les jours du prophète Samuel, et aucun des rois d'Israël n'a célébré une Pâque comme celle que Josias a célébrée, avec les prêtres, les lévites, tout Juda et Israël présents, et les habitants de Jérusalem.
19 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josias this passover was kept, after all these things that Josias did in the house.
Cette Pâque fut célébrée la dix-huitième année du règne de Josias.
20 And Pharao Nechao king of Egypt went up against the king of the Assyrians to the river Euphrates, and king Josias went to meet him.
Après tout cela, comme Josias avait préparé le temple, Neco, roi d'Égypte, monta pour combattre Carchemish au bord de l'Euphrate, et Josias sortit à sa rencontre.
21 And he sent messengers to him, saying, What have I to do with you, O king of Juda? I am not come today to war against you; and God has told me to hasten: beware of the God that is with me, lest he destroy you.
Mais il lui envoya des ambassadeurs, en disant: « Qu'ai-je à faire avec toi, roi de Juda? Je ne viens pas aujourd'hui contre toi, mais contre la maison avec laquelle je suis en guerre. Dieu m'a ordonné de me hâter. Prends garde que ce soit Dieu qui soit avec moi, afin qu'il ne te détruise pas. »
22 However, Josias turned not his face from him, but strengthened himself to fight against him, and listened not to the words of Nechao by the mouth of God, and he came to fight in the plain of Mageddo.
Cependant Josias ne voulut pas détourner son visage de lui, mais il se déguisa pour pouvoir combattre avec lui, et il n'écouta pas les paroles de Neco venant de la bouche de Dieu, et il vint combattre dans la vallée de Megiddo.
23 And the archers shot at king Josias; and the king said to his servants, Take me away, for I am severely wounded.
Les archers tirèrent sur le roi Josias, et le roi dit à ses serviteurs: « Emmenez-moi, car je suis gravement blessé! ».
24 And his servants lifted him out of the chariot, and put him in the second chariot which he had, and brought him to Jerusalem; and he died, and was buried with his fathers: and all Juda and Jerusalem lamented over Josias.
Ses serviteurs le firent descendre du char, le mirent dans le second char qu'il avait, et l'emmenèrent à Jérusalem. Il mourut, et fut enterré dans les tombeaux de ses pères. Tout Juda et Jérusalem portèrent le deuil de Josias.
25 And Jeremias mourned over Josias, and all the chief men and chief women uttered a lamentation over Josias until this day: and they made it an ordinance for Israel, and, behold, it is written in the lamentations.
Jérémie fit des lamentations sur Josias, et tous les chanteurs et toutes les chanteuses ont parlé de Josias dans leurs lamentations jusqu'à ce jour, et ils en ont fait une ordonnance en Israël. Voici, elles sont écrites dans les lamentations.
26 And the rest of the acts of Josias, and his hope, are written in the law of the Lord.
Maintenant, le reste des actes de Josias et ses bonnes actions, selon ce qui est écrit dans la loi de l'Éternel,
27 And his acts, the first and the last, behold, [they are] written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.
et ses actes, les premiers et les derniers, voici, ils sont écrits dans le livre des rois d'Israël et de Juda.
