Chronicles II 27
1 Joatham [was] twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name [was] Jerusa, daughter of Sadoc.
૧યોથામ જયારે રાજ કરવા લાગ્યો, ત્યારે તેની ઉંમર પચીસ વર્ષની હતી; તેણે યરુશાલેમમાં સોળ વર્ષ રાજ કર્યું. તેની માતાનું નામ યરુશા હતું; તે સાદોકની દીકરી હતી.
2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Ozias did: but he went not into the temple of the Lord. And still the people corrupted themselves.
૨તેના પિતા ઉઝિયાએ જે સારું કર્યું હતું તે પ્રમાણે તેણે ઈશ્વરની દ્રષ્ટિમાં જે સારું હતું તે કર્યું. તેણે ઉઝિયાની માફક ઈશ્વરના ઘરમાં પ્રવેશીને પાપ કર્યું નહિ. પણ લોકો તો હજી સુધી દુષ્ટ કાર્યો કર્યા કરતા હતા.
3 He built the high gate of the house of the Lord, and he built much in the wall of Opel.
૩તેણે ઈશ્વરના ઘરનો ઉપલો દરવાજો બાંધ્યો અને ઓફેલના કોટ ઉપર પુષ્કળ પ્રમાણમાં બાંધકામ કર્યા.
4 In the mountain of Juda, and in the woods, [he built] both dwelling-places and towers.
૪આ ઉપરાંત તેણે યહૂદિયાના પહાડી પ્રદેશમાં નગરો બાંધ્યાં અને જંગલોમાં કિલ્લાઓ તથા બુરજો બાંધ્યાં.
5 He fought against the king of the children of Ammon, and prevailed against him: and the children of Ammon gave him even annually a hundred talents of silver, and ten thousand measures of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. These the king of the children of Ammon brought to him annually in the first and second and third years.
૫વળી તેણે આમ્મોનીઓના રાજાની સાથે યુદ્ધ કરીને તેઓના ઉપર વિજય મેળવ્યો. તે જ વર્ષે આમ્મોનીઓએ તેને સો તાલંત ચાંદી, દસ હજાર માપ ઘઉં તથા દસ હજાર માપ જવ ખંડણી તરીકે આપ્યાં. આમ્મોનીઓએ તેને બીજા તથા ત્રીજા વર્ષમાં પણ એટલી ખંડણી ભરી આપી.
6 Joatham grew strong, because he prepared his ways before the Lord his God.
૬યોથામ બળવાન થતો ગયો, કેમ કે તે પોતાના પ્રભુ ઈશ્વરના માર્ગોમાં યથાર્થ રીતે ચાલ્યો.
7 And the rest of the acts of Joatham, and his war, and his deeds, behold, [they are] written in the book of the kings of Juda and Israel.
૭યોથામનાં બાકીનાં કૃત્યો સંબંધી, તેના વિગ્રહો તથા તેનાં આચરણો વિષે ઇઝરાયલ તથા યહૂદિયાના રાજાઓના પુસ્તકમાં લખવામાં આવેલું છે.
૮તે જ્યારે રાજ કરવા લાગ્યો, ત્યારે તેની ઉંમર પચીસ વર્ષની હતી; તેણે યરુશાલેમમાં સોળ વર્ષ રાજ કર્યું.
9 And Joatham slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Achaz his son reigned in his stead.
૯યોથામ પોતાના પૂર્વજોની સાથે ઊંઘી ગયો અને તેઓએ તેને દાઉદનગરમાં દફનાવ્યો. તેનો પુત્ર આહાઝ તેને સ્થાને રાજા બન્યો.
